03.01.2022 Wollondilly’s Big Day In Event upgrades to Tabcorp Menangle Park after Overwhelming Response from the Community. Hi everyone, so much work has been happening ...behind the scenes to pull this event together and BD Productions in conjuction with Wollondilly Shiore Council have been managing a few hurdles along the way, which is not unusual for an event this size. We thought we better keep everyone in the loop of where we are up to. The soon-to-be hosted ‘Wollondilly’s Big Day In event, #wollondillysbigdayin has traded up venues and dates in order to meet safety requirements for those attending. The devastating storm that shook the Wollondilly on the 5-6th June had caused significant damages to the town including surrounding sports fields. Originally the Picton Sports Ground was chosen as the venue for the Event which was scheduled to be held on Saturday 23rd July, however in light of the overwhelming response to the event, parking and traffic management presented as a large concern. Other options were explored such as Victoria Park, however once again due to the significant damage to the sports field and surrounding land we were unable to take advantage of the grounds. We have been fortunate enough to have been offered the use of Tabcorp Menangle Park to hold the event which will enable us to provide the community and others attending, a safer venue with more room to build a bigger event, more parking and easier access. We will be looking at putting on buses and trains from Picton to Menangle Park which will get you right to the front door! A change of date has also been required due to the venue change. The new date for ‘Wollondilly’s Big Day In’ will be Sunday 31st July. We wanted to ensure we accommodate as many people as we can. As we understand their will be sports games played Saturday’s, it was only fitting to move the event to a Sunday to allow everyone an opportunity to be part of this big day. By shifting the event down the road we will capture the essence of a bigger family event where music, rides, market stalls, show cars and the community create the much needed energy to boost the spirits of all. It will be an amazing space in an amazing place. We will be contacting stall holders and bands over the coming days with the formal changes and details and hope that everyone will still have the opportunity to participate with the date change. 01.01.2022 On Tuesday three of our local Rotary Clubs (Picton, Wollondilly North and Narellan) represented by Peter Roberts, Andrew Moyle, Richard Booth and Geoff Cannon handed over cheques totaling $4,500 to help Community Links Wollondilly provide meals and pantry items to those affected by the June storm. Community Links Wollondilly would like to thank the Rotary Clubs for their hard work raising these funds which will now go directly to helping our community to recover from this devastating storm.
