16.01.2022 One of my favourites. Challenging strength and mobility at the same time

15.01.2022 Do you know what the consequences for constant abdominal bracing during exercise are?? 1. You disable the natural timing of muscular recruitment. 2. You prevent the natural rock and twist of the trunk required for efficient locomotion. 3. You increase pressure on the pelvic floor.... 4. You create an unnatural neuromuscular pattern. All of these consequences end in pain!! Effective core activation is not the same as abdominal bracing

15.01.2022 When running, the body has a natural rocking and twisting action through the hips and torso. Bracing the abs or stiffening the torso interferes with that natural rhythm which will reduce efficiently and performance.

12.01.2022 Big shout out to my Aquafit Health Fitness Wellbeing Monday morning crew. Exercise keeps your heart and lungs strong and is helpful in reducing anxiety. CoreCross classes are focusing on body weight exercises for now to reduce the the amount of equipment we handle. Bring a big (mat size) towel to keep yourself extra safe.

11.01.2022 Lets have a think about the trunk- torso. There are a lot of moving parts in there. Firstly the internal organs, which slosh around inside you and secondly the spine comprising of multiple individual joints. To move efficiently and pain free these things have to be stabilised. All of the muscles in the torso have a specific function, most generate movement, but there is a small group of muscles whos job is just to stop the internal organs from sloshing and to stabilise the joints of the spine. That group of muscles is the core. Once the core is activated then the muscles that produce movement can do so with more efficiency and better results.

06.01.2022 The core is a team player. For this plank rotation exercise the core is functioning to stabilise the spine, which keeps it safe, while the trunk muscles work to move the hips and keep the shoulders still.
