24.01.2022 HIGH VIS VERGE MOWING We are mowing 6 days a week at present to get through the spring growth. This week we are verge mowing in Elizabeth Vale, Elizabeth Sout...h, and Elizabeth South Industrial. Next week, it's Elizabeth Grove and Elizabeth. We have almost 700 kilometres of verges to mow in Playford, so we have to approach the mowing methodically - but if you have any particular areas of concern, you're always welcome to report it and we will get to it as soon as we can. Download the MyPlayford app for your reports, or go to our website - Online Services/New Request. As the growth is going to continue while we work our schedule, we ask for your patience until we get to you - we are on our way! To check the schedule for your date with our crew go here https://fal.cn/3bsQR Matt on the mower #wearehere #highvis

09.01.2022 SERVICE SPOTLIGHT: City Mowing There have been a lot of questions from our community recently about whether it's ok to maintain your own verge. We are happy to... mow your verge on our urban schedule or rural tractor slashing schedule but we certainly understand if you're verge proud and want to do it yourself. No matter where you live in Playford, you will have to fill out a Verge Landscaping Application form. Urban residents When your application is approved a green marker is installed on the kerb to let our crews know that you have taken on the responsibility to maintain the verge and do not need Council to mow or control weeds. Please do keep in mind any upgrades to a verge is at your own cost. Rural residents There are a few more things to consider for a rural verge landscaping application, like council infrastructure, terrain and the presence of any native vegetation. An onsite inspection will be undertaken by staff before approval is given and if there are any risks associated, you will be advised. We are here to make sure we do whatever we can to make Playford well presented and a great place to live for our community, so if you have any thoughts or suggestions about the verge guidelines or application process, or just want to connect with us, contact us on email [email protected] or 8256 0333. To view the Verge Landscaping Guidelines or to put in an application, go here https://fal.cn/3bPeP #ServiceSpotlight #WeAreHere

05.01.2022 SERVICE SPOTLIGHT: City Mowing Do you know what a reach slasher is? Well, if you take one look at the image below, you will very likely work it out! This is the... machinery that we use to cut our hard to reach roadsides, swale drains, gullies and hills face. As well as stretching down, it also stretches up, like an arm reaching up to the sides of hill faces. It's actually pretty cool to watch. Our schedule of tractor and reach slashing, which has an additional round of tractor slashing included this year, looks like this: Open space slashing (i.e. gullies) - up to 3x per year High Traffic areas (ie; Main North Road windbreak) - up to 5x per year Rural roadsides (315km of rural roadsides, slashing both sides) - up to 3x per year Fire track slashing (90kms public and private) - 1x per year in December Reach slashing (rural roadsides and swale drains verges - city wide) - up to 3x per year PLUS the urban hills face (eg; Hillbank) - up to 3 x per year. The additional cut will help the appearance of our rural areas and roadsides and increase the pride we all have in our community. If you see any areas of our city that you feel need the attention of our reach slasher, let us know by downloading the My Playford app to your phone or device and putting in a report. Or you can always call us on 8256 0333. #ServiceSpotlight #WeAreHere
