15.01.2022 Are you taking care of yourself? Last week, I had taken on a lot. I had been saying yes to every opportunity that had come my way. By the end of the week, I was exhausted.... I got run down, and ended up with a cold. I went to bed at 7.30pm on Saturday night. It’s easy when you are in a helping profession, such as teaching or coaching to end up putting the needs of other people first. Without time and space, to stop and recharge, eventually you can end up drained, without the energy to take care of yourself. This weekend, I took some time to slow down and recharge and I’ve realised that the more I take care of myself, the more that I will be able to be there and support others. Because being there for the people in my life is very important to me. I’ve come to the conclusion: If you take better care of yourself, you can take better care of others. If your cup is not full, you have less to give to others. Some people may worry that putting their needs first is selfish. To avoid judgement, they then, either give and give until they burn-out, or they isolate from others, and stay away from people. If you want to give freely and generously to others, it is important to learn how to give to yourself first, so you are giving from a full cup. If you give more to yourself, you will have more to give. You are worth it. What do you need more of this week to take care of yourself? What do you need to say no to this week, to take care of yourself?

12.01.2022 Don’t judge the moment It is really easy to judge what we are experiencing and put a negative or positive label on it straight away.... Often we may enter into a situation and be very quick to categorise it as either ‘good’ or ‘bad’, ‘helpful’ or ‘unhelpful’, ‘valuable’ or not. Labelling and judging an experience too quickly can limit our experience, and can deprive us of valuable learnings, especially if it means that we give up on something too quickly, that could have value for us For example, you may decide an experience needs to look a certain way. Your expectations about how it should be, could get in the way of any benefits, because you are forcing a certain outcome. Or if it doesn’t work for as quickly as it does for someone else, that it never will. This is not true. Take time. Allow for processing. Trust in the process. Have a great Sunday

09.01.2022 THOUGHTS + FEELINGS = BEHAVIOURS += The other day I was listening to Brooke Castillo’s The Life Coach School Podcast, and I heard something that I have heard before, but it was a good reminder of the importance of people taking control of their mindset.... Often people make the mistake of concentrating on changing their behaviours when they want to adopt a new habit, or make lasting positive changes in their life. The issue with this is that, it is our feelings that create our behaviour and these feelings are created by our thoughts. This is why focusing only on the behaviours themselves is not effective. Most people do not realise, that there is no point of simply focusing on trying to change their behaviours if they want to create new habits in their life. Instead, if you are wanting to change your behaviours, it is important to first observe your feelings, and then unpack the thoughts that are creating those emotions. If you want to make deep lasting change, there is not much point in only looking at the surface behaviours. Observing, challenging and reframing your thoughts, will naturally shift your feelings and then your behaviours. This is one way that I help people in my life coaching sessions.

05.01.2022 I’M EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE that I am now incorporating a sophisticated behavioural analysis profiling assessment into my coaching sessions. This behavioural analysis assessment tool, has been created specifically by experts to analyse your behaviour in the workplace to optimise your natural strengths. Once you complete an online assessment, you are provided with a report that measures your personality traits and strengths and weaknesses in a workplace context. Then as your co...ach, I would take you through a detailed debrief session to explain and guide you to understand the meaning of the results of the report. With sufficient coaching to accompany this profile you can: gain a deep and detailed understanding of the ideal conditions that would help you thrive in a workplace: understand how to optimise your processes so that you perform well under pressure, and learn how to prevent burnout and stress by designing a work environment that works best for you. This profile can also provide invaluable and detailed information that could help you understand what type of profession or career path you are best suited for, based on your personality type. As I am trained in the behavioural analysis e-DISC method I am excited to announced that I am now offering this behavioural analysis report, complete with a debrief session and further in depth support in my career coaching packages that can help you to unpack your natural character traits and make them work to your advantage in the workplace, using a powerful combination of tools NLP & life coaching techniques. 03.01.2022 FLOW. Have you ever had that feeling, where you suddenly feel anxious and full of self-doubt, and the fear of failure makes you want to run away and hide? One powerful trick I recommend to you, if you are interested in experimenting, is to take a moment to breath if these feelings come along. Stop, breathe and be in that moment. Visualise yourself letting go of all the tension, and stepping into ease and flow.... Sometimes when we turn off our mind and let ourselves be guided by our feelings, we can do a better job than if we over-analyse every movement. Sometimes if you instead bring all of your attention and awareness to the present moment, and focus on the process of what you are doing, rather than worrying about the outcome, you will fall into flow and things will go incredibly well, even better than if you had consciously tried to plan them that way. I had an experience of this the other day. I came to a crossroads in my day, and I had the choice to let myself get nervous, or to just allow myself to be present and respond to the moment with spontaneity and even fun! I had a moment where I felt like I became an observer of my body - that this really stressful situation suddenly turned around, and everything was going so well and smoothly that I was amazed at the ease I was feeling. This experience reminded me of the importance and power of presence and of letting go of expectations and over-evaluation in high pressure situations. Sometimes you just have to trust yourself, turn your critical mind off, and leap! photo credit: amazing @anna.stella.turner
