21.01.2022 "Its about the little things Its the little things we do that create ripples that become waves that become tsunamis. Be it a simple gesture a thank you a nod of the head a positive remark... We create the world we dwell in through the little, every day actions we take in the moments. Right now, those little things are more important than ever. So, return that call. Better still, be the one who initiates the call. Make a time to catch up and actually catch up. If your ...friend has a business page, like or share that post they put up, so that others might see it, and do the same. In particular, if your friend has a business affected by COVID, do something to support them, be it buying their product/service, or if youre not able to, by sharing it with your friends or community. When you talk about how were all in this together, mean it. Act on it. There is a cumulative effect in all the little things that creates a reality that engenders the moments and the days and the lifetimes with meaning, and with possibility. Were all in this together? Show that you mean it. As we travel this challenging path, we need to ever remind ourselves that we can change whole lives through the little things we do that we can create a ripple, and that if others do the same, those ripples might join together to create waves and tsunamis that can change lives that can change the world. So yes Its about the little things we do. In so saying, its also about the little things we could have done, but didnt Those small gestures that while we might not think matter much, may well have made a world of difference to someone. Dont be that person who, could easily have done a thing for someone, but didnt. And dont freak out if youve not done the thing yet. Theres still time. Theres still today! So, be kind. Be brave. And above all, never forget the power each of you holds to make someones life better, through taking a moment to do the little things." Michael Mills Creative Director HeapsGood

21.01.2022 In the last few years, theres been a welcome increase in the number of people working in the art/science space. One of the early pioneers of doing this, back in the day, is world renowned singing palaeontologist Prof Flint. This Sunday at 4pm, Adelaide time, you can hear what he has to say on the matter, and check out some of his awesome tunes through Dinosaur University.

21.01.2022 After several months at sea, on a voyage that was marked with trajedy, Welsh immigrant Harry Williams and his family, finally arrive in South Australia, in what was known to many at the time, as Port Misery. And while things are going okay for Harry in the first few weeks, theres something that has come to touble him greatly. As a Welshman, proud of his heritage, he is confronted by the realisation that the place he now calls home, was already home, and had been so, to another people... another proud culture... for a very, very, very long time. This is the third part of a series produced in association with the team at the South Australian Maritime Museum. It is the final part of Harrys story, for now. Stay tuned, though, for there are more stories about people from the Port, and beyond, heading this way.

20.01.2022 Stay safe, fellow South Aussies, and do what you can to help and support those around you at this challenging time. For those who work in the arts, we are once again in a particularly difficult and uncertain time. For we at HeapsGood, today has just the seen the third performance cancellation in just over 24 hours. We are not the only ones experiencing such cancellations, and there is no remedy to make up for these cancellations. So, yes... We need to do all we can to stay sa...fe. A virus can only spread through human behaviour that allows it to spread. We also need to be reminded, though, of what we are staying safe for. That there is a way of life we are fighting for, and that central to that way of life is the arts. If there is something you can do to support the arts, now would be the time to do so. Michael M. HeapsGood Creative Director

19.01.2022 This is Harry Williams. Harry and his family were of the many immigrants who came to the colony of South Australia in the 1800s though a system of assisted passage. It was an often unpleasant, and sometimes treacherous journey, tinged with hope and sadness. On arrival, people like Harry were also confronted by a reality that was not always what they thought it was going to be, on a land that had already been inhabited for many thousands of years. He had come to Port Adelaide.... He came to know that it already had a name, in Yerta Bulti. The following link will take you to a series of short videos giving an insight into some of Harrys thoughts and experiences. In the weeks ahead, through the South Australian Maritime Museum, the National Railway Museum, Port Adelaide, and with the support of the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, therell be more stories to share about this remarkable place, and its people. https://www.youtube.com/playlist

14.01.2022 In 1845, the Irish potato crop was infested with blight for the first time in the country's history. What was to follow was a devastating famine that led to many deaths. It also led to a mass exodus of people from Ireland. As part of this, thousands of orphans were sent to places including South Australia... including Port Adelaide. The majority of the orphans sent to South Australia were young girls. It was a journey that was supposed to find hope and a new life for the Iri...sh orphans... It didn't always quite end up that way. With the generous support of the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, we're putting together a series of videos to tell the stories of some of the people who have lived in the place, where many of you now live, and walked the same spaces. The arrival of the Irish orphans is another important part of the Port Adelaide story. Thanks, also, to the team at the South Australian Maritime Museum for their support and advice in the making of this video, as we at HeapsGood travel this journey of discovery.

12.01.2022 Today we begin the first in a series of videos telling the stories of the people of the Port, and the surrounding areas. In association with the South Australian Maritime Museum, for the next three weeks, well introduce you to an immigrants story from the 1800s. In the 1800s, many people came to South Australia through a form of assisted passage. Who were those people, and what did it involve? In todays video, we explore the important decision to leave home by Welshman, Harry Williams. Next week, well take you onto the ship with Harry to reveal what life on board was really like. In subsequent weeks, with support from the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, well further explore several stories of people from within the area, and introduce you to some most remarkable characters.

09.01.2022 A night amongst the shadows at the SA Museum with Prof Flint

08.01.2022 Unfortunately, we wont be able to share Professor Flints insights and songs as a Facebook Premiere event, at 4pm today as wed planned. Facebook have muted the Profs tunes in the scheduled premiere, asking that he get permission from the copyright owner to use them... which is him! What we have been able to do, though, is upload the session to YouTube, and well share it via Dinosaur University at 4pm today. Its certainly not the same, and not interactive in the way a F...acebook Premiere event is. Were seeking an urgent response from Facebook! It seems a tad silly that the Prof needs to write to himself and get permission to play his own tunes!

08.01.2022 Weve been hanging out at the South Australian Maritime Museum and the National Railway Museum, Port Adelaide with these fine rascals all day. Who are they? When were they? And why are they an important part of the story of Port Adelaide and beyond? Stay tuned to this page over the coming days and weeks... This next phase in our "People of the Port" series is proudly supported by a City of Port Adelaide Enfield grant.

08.01.2022 Across our 21 years of doing lots of cool things, part of that time has involved working as producers for world renowned singing palaeontologist Professor Flint of Dinosaur University and Dinosaurs Down Under. If you want to listen to the Prof's many tunes, be sure to follow him on Spotify via the following link... https://open.spotify.com/artist/08cOs1khLYuKyEMTUc2Ggq

08.01.2022 Today is RUOK? Day and were re-sharing a conversation our Creative Director Michael Mills had several months ago with South Australian performer Jayden Prelc. After 100 days in quarantine, Jayden spoke with Michael about his journey from life on board a cruise ship as a performer, fulfilling a life-long dream, to being trapped at sea, and then, to the moment his quarantine ended. Along the way, the two talked managing mental health during these extraordinary times, the impor...tance of the arts, and of where to go from here. If youre experiencing mental health issues and need support, or just want to talk to someone, contact Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636, or Lifeline on 13 11 14. https://youtu.be/bxDEoCj9kdc

07.01.2022 Its Talk Like a Pirate Day, and you arrrrrrrrr all invited to parrrrrrticipate! But wait... You can also sing like a pirate with some awesome tunes from some of the shows weve produced in the last few years... Download from Apple Music... https://music.apple.com//the-big-songbook-of-pi/1447906353... And check out the Spotify play list, here... https://open.spotify.com/album/2QxcQ1lO1IDFxSMFBYRNcI

07.01.2022 21 years ago, on Nov 1st, 1999, we registered the business name of HeapsGood Productions! It was the very first time, the uniquely South Australian phrase HeapsGood had been used for a business. We chose it because this is where we are from... this is who we are! Since that time, we have worked on multiple projects with our sibling organsiations Dinosaurs Down Under and Dinosaur University. We have employed dozens of performers from Adelaide Youth Theatre and the Australian C...lassical Youth Ballet and given many of them, their first professional opportunity. And we have worked with some remarkable organsitions, including the South Australian Maritime Museum, Adelaide Botanic Garden, National Science Week, the South Australian Museum, Inspiring South Australia, Art Gallery of South Australia, the palaeo teams at Flinders University and The University of Adelaide, Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery, the Australian Museum, Illuminart, Mosaic Audio Visual, City of Port Adelaide Enfield, and many, many more. Thanks to all of the people who make up the organisations we have had the honour to work with. Thanks in particular, though, to the people who have taken the time to come and see the shows, download the tunes, watch the videos, or buy the merch... We are able to exist because of you. And while 2020 has been a challenging year... we're still here... we're still heapsgood... and we're looking forward to creating more delightful adventures in the years to come!

06.01.2022 Thanks to the South Australian Maritime Museum for sharing part of our the story, and its connection to Port Adelaide. And thanks for being an extraordinary place in which stories dwell and are shared that we might all learn about this remarkable place.

06.01.2022 It is with with profound sadness that we share the news that on Friday 7th August, after a long illness, our great friend, and "the sound of Adelaide" Neville Clark passed away surrounded by his family. If ever you hear a recording mastered in Adelaide, chances are, Nevilles ears and his genius through Disk-Edits Pty Ltd were a part of it. For us, Neville was there from the beginning, including our work with Prof Flint of Dinosaurs Down Under. HeapsGood Creative Director M...ichael Mills would always ensure he was there, with Neville, in the mastering studio for the session... hoping with all his being, that some of Nevilles brilliance might rub off... Watching a master of his craft at work, so that he might do better in his own work. Thank you, Neville, for being central to the HeapsGood journey, and to the creation of our sound. Here are some pictures of a recent session with Neville, featuring Prof Flint, Neville, and Leo, the #StudioDog. Neville lived with non-Hodgkins lymphoma for 20 years and approached life with energy and optimism, even to his last days. If you would like to make a donation In honour of his memory please consider donating to the Leukaemia Foundation at https://bit.ly/2XG8Ffz

06.01.2022 Tickets are on sale now for this awesome new musical adventure adapted from an iconic Australian story, by Dorothy Wall. And along with having fair bit to do with writing the songs, HeapsGood Creative Director, Michael Mills is the show's Musical Director. Not bad for someone who cannot read or write the dots on a page of music! Here's a link to get your tickets for the show...... https://adelaidefringe.com.au//blinky-bill-is-on-the-loose See more

05.01.2022 This Sunday. 4pm. Live-streamed and free. An awesome event exploring South Australias heaps good fossil heritage. Hosted by Dinosaur Universitys Dean of Science, Prof Flint, and featuring 4 amazing palaeontologists... 2 from Flinders University and 2 from The University of Adelaide. 03.01.2022 Attention young dancers! Want to dance your way through this years Christmas Pageant amongst the streets of Adelaide? Then, you best check this out!

03.01.2022 Along with our sibling organisations, Dinosaur University and Dinosaurs Down Under, heres something were sharing, because it matters. It matters to all three organisations for many reasons. At its most basic, though, its because we are passionate about the importance of all of us learning all of the stories of where we are. This Sunday, well be broadcasting The Great South Australian Fossil Debate from the land upon which all three organisations dwell... Kaurna land... Adelaide. In doing so, all three of us wanted to share our thoughts and principles, shaped in our own words, on why it matters to acknowledge, to listen, to learn, and to understand.

02.01.2022 There are plenty of awesome on-line activities coming up for this years National Science Week. We happen to think, though, that this one will be the most awesome of them all! Especially for we South Aussies! And yes... We may have a thing, or two, to do with this one!

02.01.2022 Todays Facebook Memories piece of awesome from the HeapsGood vault, at the South Australian Maritime Museum... This time last year, when things were different, and we could do such things, these three fabulous humans, a teddy, and a seagull, were well into rehearsals for "Pirates in their PJs". And yes... While theres always a moment of sadness with such memories because of what we cant currently do... Such things also serve as a reminder of what were fighting for... Of the importance of finding ways in a COVID and post-COVID world to keep telling stories, and keep the arts alive!

02.01.2022 Monsters and Maniacs! Two casts set to entertain you this afternoon from the awesome team at Adelaide Youth Theatre. Follow the link for booking details! https://www.trybooking.com/book/event
