22.01.2022 This is such a big moment when it all seems to have clicked for our student and his reading Weve been working together now for about 5 months twice weekly to take our young man from not recognising single alphabet sounds to NOW reading! He has been at least 3 years behind in his reading ... I had tears in my eyes as his grandmother got up and gave him a big hug at the end of our session today witnessing just how far hes come Never give up on our kids even if they dont fit the school system and fall through the cracks There is Hope. 16.01.2022 Its remarkable how much the small muscles in a childs fingers require strengthening Reason being these fine motor muscles need to be strong as they control pencils , scissors, handwriting, buttoning and unbuttoning, using zippers, tying shoe laces and the list goes on . Games like Tricky Tree which use pegs to create a balanced tree use the smaller muscles of the hands ... . 08.01.2022 Our student was kicking goals today in our weekly session . We began to work on her pencil grip. In the TOP LEFT corner you can see her typical pencil grip is so tight it pains daily. With some fine motor games and strengthening plus the use of a fabulous pencil with special grooves that help with the placement of thumb and finger (pincer grasp) our student was able to hold her pencil in a functional position that didnt result in pain! ...
