25.01.2022 Beautiful full moon on the night we arrived back in the Lot Valley - in the morning we visited the rather overwhelming market at Prayssac church square...so many fresh vegetables, garlic, olives, fish, cheese, foie gras, meats, speciality sausage ...we came away with heaving baskets full to the brim with handmade locally produced products, lemon pasta, duck rillettes, walnut oil, purple garlic, foie gras....Heaven !!!

23.01.2022 Delightful day yesterday exploring the beautiful Lot Valley in the wine growing area of Cahors. I wanted to see the view from a chateau perched high over the countryside - as it turned out they also have a Michelin star restaurant so I had a beautiful lunch and afterwards a private tour of the accomodation and the wine cellar. Even got to go into the highest turret to take in the view !!!

23.01.2022 So - here’s the bird all ready for the oven !!! 8 hours to paint with 3 coats - it was quite fiddly to do but sitting chatting to Mary has been lovely - very relaxing and creative !!!



20.01.2022 After the church off to the markets...peaches, nectarines and apricots all in abundance this time of year and so reasonable!! As are these amazing Coeur de Beof tomates which have the best flavour !!!

18.01.2022 Last a stop at my local vineyard - Domaine La Fort , which is less than 4.5 kms from my front door. The region is Malpere and the wines are delicious. Matthew is there at the cellar door and speaks perfect English !

18.01.2022 Very interesting tour of the local goat farm where they produce the famed Rocamadour cheese - which is a small, creamy soft flavoured round cheese, very often served in a salad complete with fresh green leaves, walnuts and local honey. The female Saanen goat must produce the milk to give it its distinctive taste. They are fed luzerne grass in the evening which is full of protein (which you can see them eating here) They are milked twice a day and this small farm makes around 1000 cheeses a week. Once the curd is made, the moulds are filled and turned for 6 days to mature. We tried some just a few days old and it was so delicious we took some to have for our picnic - all washed down with a local Cahors red of course !!



13.01.2022 Brilliant and informative wine taste and tour at the rather imposing looking Chateau Chambert bio dynamique vineyard - Very friendly staff though !! We were taken through Chardonnay, Rose and then the big big Cahors reds, they must be 70% Malbec to be labelled Cahors, some are 100% so you can only imagine they cellar for years !

12.01.2022 Wonderful morning spent under the tuition of Mary Gould in her ceramic workshop here in Lassere - my first clay piece now ready to be fired then painted, glazed and fired again ! Mary is a first class teacher , as she explained - her skill is being able to get 18 students to make something they feel proud of after just a day in the workshop !! I was pretty chuffed with my peacock !!!

11.01.2022 Back again to beautiful Cordes sur Ciel - such an intense variety of artisan shops, all completely unique, there’s nothing that’s mass produced here....Glass, ceramic, paintings and sculpture, leather, handmade clothes and jewellery, foie gras....a joy to spend the morning looking around again !!!

09.01.2022 Sunday Antique Brocante at Limoux- Where you can pick up a bargain if you look hard- mind you, they seem to be more expensive during peak tourist times.....just saying.....

02.01.2022 I was invited by my neighbors to attend an evening at a vineyard tonight - to enjoy a quiz followed by a picnic dinner - everybody brings something to share - all washed down with some beautiful wines . Everyone was so friendly and generous, summer here is just fabulous !! Thank you Domaine Le Fort !!
