24.01.2022 Doing a bit of online shopping of late? Or if you're like us, and you're locked down in Melbourne, you're possibly *maybe* doing lot of online shopping - more than you'd planned to do this year anyway So now you're stuck with boxes. Lots and lots of boxes. Boxes, and air pockets, and satchels - oh my! And you don't want to recycle them, because, well, that's just a waste of a good box #amiright!? We hear you - and we've got your back We're supporting our local commu...nity to reduce waste by encouraging a circular economy. Part and parcel of any eCommerce business is packing products to send via post or courier - to minimise the impact of this, we collect and reuse used packaging materials (that may have otherwise ended up in the bin) for shipping products to customers, rescuing them from landfill If you have leftover or an excess of the materials - you can donate them to Crema Joe for reuse. From boxes to packing peanuts to half-used rolls of tape, we want to prolong the life of these items by encouraging their re-use for as long as possible. Keen to find out more? Head to our Recycling Program page here www.cremajoe.com.au/pages/recycling-programs A note on Covid: Please hold onto your old packaging until Stage 4 lockdown finishes, when we'll be ready to safely accept your donations direct to our warehouse!

23.01.2022 Yes, face coverings are STILL mandatory in public across Victoria with the addition of the requirement for it to be a fitted face mask (rather than a face shield, bandana or scarf) we've put together a few tips to help you reduce your environmental footprint during this time

20.01.2022 After 3 years of researching, tinkering & development, we've crafted something quite revolutionary - a product that completely closes the loop. The journey to making better things in a better way is a long road, so we are *super* excited to finally introduce: The Perfect Press! The Perfect Press allows you to fill & tamp consistently for a delightful, creamy espresso, every time - it's the ideal companion for your reusable pods! This unique device takes all the mess & str...ess out of creating ready-to-brew capsules - simply place a refillable Nespresso compatible pod in the base, scoop coffee into the funnel & tamp to finish! And, inspired by the concept of truly circular design, this product is made from 100% recycled materials. Why we love it: It makes filling your reusable pods *so* easy It's Australian made It works with all of our Nespresso compatibles Each product diverts 25 bottle caps from landfill Every piece is handcrafted by our team, allowing for the slight variations & idiosyncrasies that make the Perfect Press unique! The product drop is happening at 5pm (AEDT) TONIGHT! Make sure you're online & ready for the launch! Please note: Due to the time-intensive nature of crafting this bespoke item, production runs will be limited. See more

19.01.2022 Familiar scene? According to a recent report by Oceana, Amazon generated an estimated 465 MILLION pounds of plastic packaging in 2019 alone, with a delivery van worth of their plastic waste entering global waterways every 70 minutes. With the COVID-19 crisis, online shopping is skyrocketing - and so too will Amazon's already out-of-control plastic pollution problem. The International Solid Waste Association estimates our reliance on single-use plastic during the pandemi...c has increased by 250-300% during the pandemic. E-commerce businesses have a duty to act. And consumers have the ability to have an impact, by either choosing to shop with responsible businesses OR raising our collective voices to demand change. Image / stats via Greenpeace Canada

11.01.2022 Single-use coffee pods are only used for a moment, for a single cuppa in our lifespan, but will stick around on our precious planet for literally hundreds of years Each and every one of us can choose to be part of a positive impact, because we CAN do better! 11.01.2022 GUYS. THIS ONE'S A DOOZY. Whilst we don't generally *condone* the use of coffee pod machines (but you know, if you've already got one, we can certainly point you in the direction of some planet-friendly pods ) we often get asked about the different types of coffee machines available. In particular, the new Nespresso Vertuo machines seem to causing a hell of a lot of confusion. So, our crew decided to do the research for you, and put it alllllll into one comprehensive guide... #youarewelcome https://www.cremajoe.com.au/blogs/news/which-vertuo-machine

10.01.2022 Repost via Resparkle: #ChooseBetterTuesday Coffee pods can take 150 to 500 years to break down in landfill. That's bad news if you care about our planet. ... Choose better and use a reusable coffee pod like Crema Joe instead. These are compatible with most machines (check the directions!) and, they can be used again and again.

08.01.2022 Restock! We've just added more Face Mask Ear Savers to the store, along with our newest colour line Cola Black! Our excellent Ear Savers are designed to remove the irritation that face mask ear-loops create on your ears - simply wrap the mask elastic around the clip rather than your ears to immediately relieve pressure. To help combat the problem of landfill and ocean waste, each Ear Saver is produced by hand and made entirely of locally sourced, reclaimed plastic bottl...e tops Production runs of our bespoke ear protectors ALWAYS sell out quick, so make sure you get your mitts on one before they're gone!

07.01.2022 This is Melbourne. Here is our preschooler, in front of an abandoned ice cream truck, making a wish on a dandelion. Whilst we don't share too many behind-the-scenes family snaps here, this one is particularly representative of lockdown for us. It's been tough juggling this little guy and keeping our business ticking along over the course of 2020. We've just about covered every centimetre of our five k's, but for him it's been a 'too many hours in the warehouse' kinda year, an...d for us, a 'too many hours of screentime' kinda year. So for his sake, I hope the ice cream vans are set free again very soon - just in time for summer #MelbourneSmallBusiness #SpreadKindness P.S Just in case you're wondering, most dandelion wishes are for a holiday. Soon buddy, soon "The real story here is the superhuman humanity, the extraordinary ordinariness, and just how remarkable the otherwise unremarkable amongst us are being." Dave Milner

06.01.2022 From plastic shampoo bottles to single-use baking paper, we could do much more to keep our household waste in check, writes Riley Wilson.

02.01.2022 A new report published by the Changing Markets Foundation has shed light on the world's worst companies for plastic pollution. So who are the world's worst offe...nders for plastic packaging production and pollution? The report names Coca-Cola KO as the company with the biggest plastic footprint on the planet with 2.9 million metric tonnes of plastic packaging produced per year. Its biggest competitor, Pepsico PEP , comes second with 2.3 million metric tonnes while Nestlé is the third-worst offender with 1.7 million metric tonnes of plastic packaging produced. Five of the eight companies with the biggest plastic footprint are American with Nestlé (Switzerland), Danone (France) and Unilever (United Kingdom/Netherlands) the exceptions. The report only focused on companies that actually report levels of plastic packaging produced with Mondelz and Perfetti Van Melle notably absent from that list. #northernbeachescleanupcrew #trash #litter #savethisplanet #plastic
