25.01.2022 This May we celebrate 7 incredible years of Curl Curl parkrun! This also marks 7 years of our amazing Event Director Kim Joss who started Curl Curl parkrun back in 2013. Kim has since volunteered over 150 times and build the incredibly inclusive community we know and love. This month Kim will finish up as Event Director and focus on gaining that coveted 250 shirt. When we start back up (whenever that may be) Michelle and Stuart Watts will step into the role as co-Event Di...rectors. Stay safe everyone, keep active and we look forward to seeing you all next parkrun day. #loveparkrun See more

25.01.2022 As per the updated NSW health advice, unfortunately we will not have a parkrun on NYD or Sat the 2nd of January

22.01.2022 Calling all parkrunners Our events are only possible because of our great volunteers and after a few months hiatus our roster is looking very sparse. Volunteering is fun and a great way to give back to our wonderful community, check out the available roles here parkrun.com.au/curlcurl/futureroster and send us a DM with the dates/roles you prefer.

22.01.2022 Curl Curl parkrun will be celebrating International Women’s Day next Saturday, March 7. International Women's Day is all about celebrating female participation, and we would love to celebrate the women in our Curl Curl parkrun community. We would also like to make it an opportunity to welcome as many women and girls as possible to Curl Curl parkrun on Saturday 7 March! So if you know a female friend, family member or work colleague, especially one who has never been to parkr...un before, now's the time to ask and encourage them to attend! Additionally, we are encouraging all parkrunners to wear the colour purple on the day in honour of women and equality, as this is the official colour of International Women’s Day. See you there! Glenn

21.01.2022 Sadly our parkrun events for the 25th and 26th December are cancelledSadly our parkrun events for the 25th and 26th December are cancelled

20.01.2022 Update from parkrun HQ Today’s update is to notify you that all parkrun events will now continue to be suspended until at least the end of April. This is in order to keep all parkrun countries following the same timeline for the moment, although we do expect suspensions to go beyond April. Since deciding to close our events we have been working incredibly hard to action that decision, understand the implications of making it, and provide immediate support to parkrun communiti...es around the world. And, with all events suspended, we are now able to begin work developing our strategy for supporting our communities during this difficult time and, one day, re-launching. Going forward we will be publishing a global parkrun update every Tuesday (UK time), on the parkrun.com news page. We will get through this, together. Tom Williams CEO

16.01.2022 Hello everyone. We trust you are well and wherever you are in the world during these uncertain times, that you and your family are all safe and healthy. We und...erstand that many of you are missing your weekly parkrun events, so we wanted to let you know that parkrun Global have been working very hard to bring you an exciting alternative to your weekly parkrun event - parkrun Online! Today, we're very proud to announce that we are partnering with both Google and Zwift to bring every parkrun event online and make them available to you in the comfort and safety of your home. That's every parkrun ... world-wide! Thanks to Google, parkrun volunteers will soon be recruited to capture their home event - all of the tracks and paths of each and every parkrun course - world-wide! Each of these parkrun volunteers will use a specially designed Google Trekker backpack that utilise a 360-degree camera array that creates perfectly stitched images of the event and its surroundings, meaning that every detail, of every parkrun event, will be captured in stunning 4K resolution. And thanks to Zwift, the world's largest community of online athletes, you will be able to parkrun around the world. You will be able to choose from all of our current parkrun events, find your friends and parkrun with them in real-time, by connecting to third party apps like Strava and Garmin Connect. parkrunning with the Zwift community of parkrunners will keep you motivated and have you always finish at your best. Registering for parkrun Online is simple - by using your unique parkrun athlete ID and password - and you only have to do it once. All of your current parkrun data is automatically synchronized meaning that all of your parkrun PBs, event PBs and milestone data will be available online. Once you have registered, you can create your own parkrun Online virtual avatar, personalising it right down to the colour of your shoelaces and parkrun wristband! Then it is up to you to decide where to parkrun: inside on your treadmill, by linking it with Zwift, outside in the backyard, or even on the balcony or inside the house! Of course, all parkrun Online events will commence every Saturday morning at their regular starting times ... all you have to do is login on your preferred device, choose your event - anywhere in the world - and wait for the virtual RD to say, "get-ready, get-set, and GO!". Your chosen parkrun course will playback at the speed that you are parkrunning or parkwalking, and you will be joined by hundreds or thousands of other parkrunning avatars. You can "chat" with any other avatars by texting them as you go and we encourage you to reach out and develop these virtual friendships. As soon as you finish the event, your time and place will be registered and your results available immediately online. If you achieve a PB, the virtual volunteers will cheer you home, and if you reach any parkrun Online milestone the virtual RD will give you a virtual "high-five!", and all of your parkun Online friends will be notified. We understand that parkrun Online is a new world, but don't be nervous! Remember, parkrun Online is for everyone, it is fully inclusive and so supportive, you'll always be among friends - but best of all, it's timed, it's 5kms, it's every week and it's completely free! For your free parkrun Online account, register here: https://goo.gl/hdAALN

14.01.2022 Update from parkrun HQ Dear all, As suggested in last week’s update, we are now confirming that all parkrun events across the world will be suspended throughout the month of May. ... We continue to monitor the situation in all the countries in which we operate, with a particular focus on social distancing requirements. Whilst some countries are beginning to slowly implement processes for relaxing their specific restrictions, it is not yet clear how this might impact the delivery of parkrun events. Importantly, we would also like to let you know that in all instances we will be taking a cautious approach to re-opening our events. And will only be doing so where not only do that country’s specific public health guidelines allow, but where we can be confident that our volunteer teams will not be placed under undue pressure. Due to the unprecedented nature of this challenge there is no easy way to predict or forecast how or when we might be able to start the process of re-opening. However, we continue to consult with as wide a range of specialists as possible, and to work behind the scenes such that we are ready to go when appropriate. I'm pleased to say we have written to every event team and ambassador around the world, inviting them to a conversation, and are making progress with speaking to them directly. We expect it will take several weeks to complete the calls, but early feedback is showing this to be an incredibly positive and welcome initiative. Thank you for your continued support. We will get through this, together. Tom Williams CEO

12.01.2022 Warning to fellow parkrunner, runners in general and most importantly all women. We received this message from one of our regular runners. "Yesterday (Saturday 4th) I was trying to do the right thing and went for an early 'parkrun' trying to avoid lots of people - 6.40am. As I ran along along Pittwater Road, North Manly a naked man exposed himself. He came out of the bushes along Nolan’s Reserve, luckily I was on the opposite side of the road. I have informed the police via... crimestoppers. Makes me so mad!!" We hope this idiot is caught and given a long stretch of self isolation in one of our prisons. Stay safe everyone.

07.01.2022 Leap Year parkrun Did you know that the last time the 29th Feb was on a Saturday was way back in 1996. Therefore with parkrun not starting until 2004 no one has ever had the chance to completed a parkrun 5K on the 29th Feb!... Until now that is - this year the 29th Feb 2020 is on a Saturday. So this is your chance to make history! More amazingly if you miss out this year, your next chance won't be until 2048! So make sure you get down to Curlie on Saturday 29th Feb at 7am! And why not bring a friend.

Please always STAY to the LEFT and ALWAYS be RESPECTFUL to other park users. UNDER 11s: parkrun's global policy is that all children under the age of 11 must be within arms reach of their parent(s)/guardian(s) at all times whilst running. Our event team and marshals do their best to see that this policy is adhered to by all of our junior parkrunners for their own safety. We appreciate your co-operation in helping keep our children safe. SEEDING AT START LINE: To ensure everyone’s safety and to avoid congestion please ensure seeding at the start line based upon your likely speed/overall time. So, our front of the pack should be sub 20 minute runners, next group sub 25 minutes, then sub 30 minutes and finally our runners with prams and walkers. We would really appreciate your help in following these guidelines. See you all in the morning. Glenn, Curl Curl parkrun

05.01.2022 Did anyone see our new Start / Finish and KM markers today? We once again thank Northern Beaches Council and the Councillors for their ongoing support of Curl Curl parkrun. We hope to reveal a few more course improvements in the not too distant future. ... Glenn Run Director

04.01.2022 With the recent COVID-19 cases on the Northern Beaches sadly we have made the decision to cancel our event for this weekend, Saturday 19th December. We are disappointed to delay the re-start of Curl Curl parkrun but do not want to risk the safety of our community. We encourage everyone on the Northern Beaches to follow NSW Health advice and stay home.

03.01.2022 Thanks to the event team at Mount Baker for these tips.

01.01.2022 Hello Curlie parkrunners, Our plan is to run tomorrow unless we hear otherwise from parkrun Australia. We would ask that you all consider the following: ... 1. If you’re not feeling well, take the week off. Follow health authority directions and we’ll see you again soon! 2. If you're scheduled to volunteer tomorrow and wish not to please just send us a email or message and we'll accommodate your wishes without question. 3. Stay tuned. As always, check our facebook page or the parkrun Australia website cancellations for any developments. We believe that during challenging times it is more important than ever that communities are able to come together socially and support each other if appropriate and safe. Take care parkrunners, and we look forward to parkrunning with you tomorrow!

01.01.2022 We are hoping to be back this Saturday 9th January, but before we confirm we need 14 volunteers for the event. With the COVID framework we require a lot more scanners than perviously. If you can volunteer this week or in future email us at [email protected] and see the roster at parkrun.com.au/curlcurl/futureroster
