25.01.2022 About Awareness Week For decades, the CWA of NSW has been lobbying the state government and industry bodies to ensure the right decisions are made for the state. The annual Awareness Week campaign is about dedicating all the organisations resources in that one week to a cause that is close to the hearts of its members, to advocate for change and/or understanding of a key issue or issues. This years Awareness Week campaign resonates with CWA members, with domestic violence... topping a list of advocacy issues in the most recent member survey, and being the focus of two motions overwhelmingly endorsed by members in a postal vote earlier this year on the future policy direction for the organisation. This year, the CWA of NSW is calling for governments at all levels to recognise domestic violence as a national emergency requiring urgent action. With a woman being killed every nine days in a domesticviolence related crime, and a man every 29 days (1), the CWA of NSW has partnered with White Ribbon and Domestic Violence NSW in advocating for the likes of more support services for victims and their families in country communities, and more behavioural change programs for men both for perpetrators and for those who feel like they are a risk to their partner/families particularly outside metropolitan areas. The CWA of NSW supports Domestic Violence NSWs Safe State recommendations for law and policy change to assist in helping to prevent and address the issues relating to domestic and family violence. 1 Federal Government Australian Institute of Health and Welfare See more

If someone does knock on your door, please do not give them any money without proper identification. If you do wish to donate money to help all those that have been affected by the drought and these disastrous fires, please go the official CWA sight and donate to the Disaster Relief Fund. All money will go to those in need as the CWA does not take any administration costs out.
