23.01.2022 Deadlifting with my gorgeous boy @mr_wilkie ! 100 kg felt every bit as hard as it looked today but I persevered and got it done, I even managed to add another set. 4 warmup sets at 40, 40, 60 and 80kg followed by 4 working sets at 100kg. Jack is lifting a nice comfortable 120kg! Consistency is the key to results. Plan your workouts, put them in your diary or calendar and just do it. It doesn’t matter if it didn’t feel as great as last week because you are there doing it, which means you are miles ahead of where you’d be if you chose to sit on the couch. 22.01.2022 This is one of my favourite sayings. Your health and fitness can’t be an all or nothing approach. Everyone has setbacks, everyone makes mistakes, everyone has bad days. It’s the people that can acknowledge these temporary setbacks and continue on their original path that will achieve their goals. So you opened up the packet of biscuits and ate more than you intended. So you missed a couple of days of exercise. So you drank a few extra alcoholic drinks. As long as these events are occasional rather than regular you’ll still be able to stay on track. But DON’T just give up because you messed up once! 21.01.2022 Renegade Rows! These are an awesome exercise that targets so many muscles! As a rowing exercise the focus is your back muscles, however there is also a huge core component to stabilise you, to prevent you from swinging and to prevent unnecessary movement. The glutes and quads also become involved as stabilisers as they need to remain contracted through the movement. If you’re stuck at home with no equipment, fill up a 3 litre milk or juice container with water to use as weights (rest your hand on the floor after each row) or simply turn this into a plank with a shoulder tap to get the benefits of the core work. #cwhealthfitness #renegaderows #backworkout #coreworkout #strong #health #fitnessmotivation #fit #personaltrainer #langwarrinpt

Turning to fatty and/or sugary foods for comfort might feel good right now, but when you can’t fit back into your work clothes it won’t feel so good. Set yourself a food plan with wholesome nutritious food, allow yourself one small treat/indulgence and stick to it! The recommended amount is 10,000 (minimum) Movement is one of the keys to long term weight maintenance but this doesn’t just have to be structured exercise. Just move your body. Take the stairs, park further away, do a few laps of your desk instead of just sitting all day, get up to change the tv channel! There are lots of ways to move more every day.
