25.01.2022 What a season. Thanks to all the members keeping our communities safe both near and far.
24.01.2022 Hazard Reduction (EARL STATION) Lower Western RFS crews are undertaking a Hazard Reduction Operation today (17/05/2020), 15kms west of the Euston township. The burn is north of the Sturt Highway, spanning north/south along the Condon Fire Trail (Wentworth/Balranald Shire Boundary). Please be aware, at times there may be fire crews/vehicles working in close proximity to the Sturt Highway. Smoke may be visible in the area for the next 24>48 hours while the burn is undertaken and site patrolled by firefighters. 23.01.2022 As with all of our brigades, we are here for the community. We wish all our fellow brigades a very merry Christmas and a quiet new year.
22.01.2022 Dareton Rural Fire Brigade is looking forward to getting this one in our shed ahead of the fire season. Now is the time to come along and join your local fire service, just so you can play with the new toys Seriously though, we are always on the look out for new members.....
22.01.2022 We hope there is also some photos of the amazing staff that support the Volunteers. Without both staff and volunteers the Service would not be what it is today. Thanks for all your efforts Lower Western District staff.
19.01.2022 No shortage of Community Spirit within the Wentworth Shire. Even with the challenges facing us all, Lower Western Brigades are still out and about within their ...communities. It was an early start for the Gol Gol Fire Brigade this ANZAC day who paid tribute to our past and present servicemen and women. While this morning, the Dareton Rural Fire Brigade joined the Coomealla Memorial Sporting Club and led a covid-19 style procession to celebrate a 1st and 90th birthday for two community members and their families. Looking for something to do with all your new spare time? Why not join your local fire brigade! Although many things have come to a halt, we haven’t. Our brigades are still recruiting and training new members. Feel free to send us a message and we'll be in touch. 18.01.2022 "It’s Time to Think About Firebreaks" Thursday the 1st of October 2020 will mark the official start of the state-wide statutory Bush Fire Danger Period and we a...re urging property owners to prepare for the 2020 / 2021 fire season now. Firebreaks can help stop fires from spreading to valuable assets such as crops, livestock or buildings. The NSW RFS recommends you mow, graze or plough around crops, valuable assets and fence lines to prevent fire escaping from your property and to reduce the likelihood of fires entering. A handy tip is to work with your neighbour(s) to construct the most effective firebreaks. Are you prepared this Bush Fire Danger Season?
16.01.2022 Sad day for the NSW RFS, but very good day for state of NSW. Congratulations Shane Fitzsimmons on your appointment as Commissioner of Resilience NSW and congratulations to Rob Rogers on your appointment to succeed Shane as the NSW Rural Fire Service Commissioner. Some very big boots to fill.
16.01.2022 Today is an important day for those in the firefighting family - St Florian's Day, named after the Patron Saint of firefighters. It's the day when we usually co...me together to present our bravery and service awards. This year we're unable to meet but still want to recognise those being named as award recipients today. We'll be providing them with their awards at a later date. 15.01.2022 Triple Zero Calls: New government technology is allowing emergency service authorities to pinpoint exact locations of where people need assistance. Previously ...emergency service towers had to use pinging mobile phone towers to triangulate the position of an emergency. Minister for Communications Paul Fletcher was in Alexandria for the launch of 'Advanced Mobile Locations' (AML). "When you call 000 your location within metres will automatically be sent to fire, police or ambulance. Advanced mobile location (AML) is now enabled on iPhones & Android phones; if you call 000 your location within metres is automatically sent to fire, police or ambulance." www.7NEWS.com.au #TripleZero #7NEWS

09.01.2022 Please be safe and stay home this weekend.
08.01.2022 You know the alert levels of Advice, Watch and Act, and Emergency Warning. The way these are displayed on our website and Fires Near Me NSW smartphone app is c...hanging. Soon you’ll see these new icons. It’s part of the new Australian Warning System, to help you receive consistent information in emergencies no matter where you live, work or travel. While the icons may look different, what they mean doesn't change - you should check for information about what to do to protect you and your family. Keep an eye out for the new icons later this week. Check https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au//gen/australian-warnings-system for info.
07.01.2022 The new Dareton 1 Alpha has been delivered and is fully operational. Last night it was even baptised with its first turn out to a motor vehicle accident (MVA). Very nice vehicle and will be a welcome addition to the family. Thanks goes out the the staff at the Lower Western Zone Fire Control Centre staff for the smooth transition to the new appliance. Ellerslie Brigade will now take ownership of our old vehicle which was a very reliable truck that served our brigade for a number of years.
04.01.2022 Last night Dareton Rural fire Brigade was joined by Buronga Rural Fire Brigade to watch this spectacular River Red Gum burn down to a height where it was safe to leave with a good clearing around it. It will be monitored over the next couple of days to ensure it does not spread to nearby bush land. Thanks to Buronga Rural Fire Brigade for your assistance and video of the event when the top of the tree burns through. Spectacular site don't you think?
03.01.2022 A very kind gesture from local people.
03.01.2022 It is the end of an era at the NSW Rural Fire Service today. After more than 30 years in the Service, and after more than 12 years as Commissioner, Shane Fitzsi...mmons leaves the organisation today. He's taking up a new role within NSW Government as the Commissioner of Resilience NSW and as Deputy Secretary of Emergency Management. Shane has seen us, and the community, through some of the toughest of conditions and experiences during this time. We say farewell and 'thank you'.
02.01.2022 It’s National Volunteer Week and we’d like to say thank to all of our volunteers across the state for the valuable contribution they make to the NSW RFS, and to their communities. Without their dedication and commitment, the devastation and losses across the past fire season could have been far greater. Thank you for changing communities and changing lives.
02.01.2022 It's hard to believe that almost 12 months ago, the bush fire season known as Black Summer hit NSW. With the next season not too far away, now is the time to consider joining your local fire brigade and give back to the community. If you would like to investigate what role you can play in the protection of your community, hit us up with a message, or simply fill in the details at https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au//volunteering-/Join-the-NSW-RFS and we will be in touch. Dareton Fire Brigade is always looking for new members.
