25.01.2022 Good hand hygiene is the most effective way to stop infections spreading. Many infections such as the common cold and flu are caused by germs spreading from person to person. Help stop the spread of germs with this handy diagram from the World Health Organization (WHO).

25.01.2022 During lockdown we can only see you if you have a dental emergency, but that doesnt mean that we dont want to hear from you. If we are not picking up the phone at the surgery, call Richard on 0417 320 376

24.01.2022 An interesting study thats taking place about bread.

23.01.2022 Covid 19 Announcement The Government, following the recommendation of the National Cabinet have mandated that dental practices move to Level 3 Restrictions effective immediately. What Level 3 Restrictions Mean... Level 3 restrictions means routine dental treatment including examinations and scale and cleans must be deferred. Until further notice only limited emergency dental treatment on patients who are not infected with Covid-19 or are under self-isolation can be carried out in the practice. Such emergency treatment will be by special arrangement by me. If you are a patient of my practice and have a dental emergency, please call me on 0417 320 376 and I will advise what can be done to help you. Thank you for your understanding in these trying times and we will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so. Stay safe and best wishes, Dr Richard Skinner & The Team

21.01.2022 Seasons Greetings to Everyone. A safe and happy summer to you all! We are now closed for the holidays! We will be back on the 6th of January 2020!

21.01.2022 Dental Implants are now a method of choice in many cases to replace a lost tooth or teeth. A good place to start when considering implants is to know all your options before you make a decision. 19.01.2022 The realities of imposing non-well formulated vegan diets on those just starting out in life ... It can be child abuse, literally, like this one. This is a sad ...story actually, and I appreciate there are mental health issues. But it appears the mother was "obsessed" with veganism. The parents are not young or uneducated! While I respect humanitarian ideas, and appreciate that there are many healthy vegan families, please think very, very carefully about the consequences of removing foods that provide critical nutrients for human development and survival. Sadly cases like this are not as rare as we might think. The vegan trend is growing, largely out of an emotional play for animal rights and the fraught belief that this is what needs to happen to save the planet. My advice: 1. If youre going to choose veganism, do so for yourself along with appropriate supplementation. Wait until your children are old enough to make their own decisions, and then supplement them appropriately if you want to see them thrive. Or if you must, supplement properly! 2. If youre passionate about animal rights, find another way to be an advocate for improving poor conditions for animals. 3. If you want to save the planet, there are a million and one things you can do without putting your health at risk- just google it! 4. If you think veganism is healthier than eating animal products (in an equally unprocessed real food diet), youre wrong- end of story! https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/news/article.cfm

11.01.2022 Going vegan? Think about the food you are eating.

10.01.2022 Restrictions for dental work will be eased from the 28th of September.

09.01.2022 Why are we always giving out toothbrushes and asking what type of toothbrush you use? Because time and time you tell us that you are using a medium or hard toothbrush! How many times have you heard us saying that THE HARDEST TOOTHBRUSH YOU SHOULD USE IS AN ULTRASOFT!... And why do we say that? Using a soft toothbrush decreases the likelihood of abrasion to teeth and gingival recession (receding gums) from occurring. Toothbrush abrasion is the mechanical wearing down of teeth that comes from OVERZEALOUS brushing either for too long or with a hard brush, usually both. Apart from the cosmetic changes that occur, toothbrush abrasion can also make your teeth VERY SENSITIVE if left untreated. It can also become EXPENSIVE to treat.

09.01.2022 Please stay safe. Wash your hands as often as necessary, and when that is not possible use hand gel.
