25.01.2022 We are proud to be supporting our members Tasmanian Air Tours with media today. Great to see family businesses like this collaborating with others. Today they flew to Bangor Vineyard Shed with 7 Tasmania on a perfect day.

22.01.2022 Destination Southern Tasmania has been running Paint the Town red since the very first Dark Mofo This year looks a little different and while we aren't running this fantastic activation in 2020, we wanted to share a throwback to what was and will be again one day. We can't thank our industry and corporate partners enough for supporting this event year on year, helping make it what it is now. ... Thank you Hype tv, The Mercury Newspaper, Triple M Hobart and of course Dark Mofo for all you do! Thank you to our industry for your incredible creativity in lighting up, creating red themed food and beverages, and decorating in a true red style. We look forward to collectively turning the skyline red once more, but for now, enjoy

21.01.2022 We are committed to supporting our members as they focus on reopening, initially to the Tasmanian market and later to the interstate market. Today our media arm, M&M Communications, worked with Hadley's Orient Hotel to spread their message across ABC, WIN, 7 Tasmania and the Mercury. The team at Hadley's have been doing it as tough as other tourism businesses, but the staff are positive and can't wait to welcome the locals in after they open on 1 July. Hadley's have adjusted their offering, so get on down and check it out.

21.01.2022 Almost 12 months ago, we launched our Regional Destination Marketing Strategy and Plan. Since the launch we have navigated a difficult social media climate (with world events over the last 12 months) and come out the other side yielding high results for our industry and members. We will continue to grow and work on this foundation, being highly strategic, agile and consumer centric, to support the industry in southern Tasmania.

20.01.2022 Did you catch our CEO, Alex Heroys, talking to Leon Compton ABC yesterday about Cruise Ships? A great conversation. Check it out below.

16.01.2022 Who else is excited for the upcoming Tasmanian Artists and Makers of the Huon Art and Wine Trail from 4 - 6 December 2020? Over three days, the cellar doors of Home Hill and Kate Hill Wines, and eight participating art studios will be open to the public. This will be a rare opportunity to visit some of the secret studios hidden away in the valley and visit the artists in their creative environments! How cool is that? Mark it in your diary! ... 15.01.2022 We were out in the Derwent Valley today supporting the launch of the Derwent Valley Tasmania tourism map. The map was supported by a grant through the Department of State Growth’s regional tourism grant fund. A great collaborative effort to highlight the growing number of quality tourism businesses in the valley and will be used to move visitors around, increasing regional dispersal and yield.

15.01.2022 This has been a big week for our industry development and advocacy! Earlier this week we partnered with the Tourism Industry Council Tasmania to introduce the T21 Visitor Economy Action Plan as well as listening to operators issues on the Tasman Peninsula, Derwent Valley and in Hobart. Thank you for hosting us Port Arthur Historic Site, Tasmania, Junction Motel and St. Albi. We were also out providing media support to our regional members Glen Derwent with the launch of thei...r new product. Congratulations Towards the end of the week we supported the very first industry function with the Coal River Valley Working Group, supporting regional operators to come together and work towards raising the profile of their area. Thank you to all who attended and thank you Frogmore Creek for hosting us all

11.01.2022 We are proud today to stand with the Tasmanian Leaders Program as they graduate out of the I-LEAD course. Congratulations to all 47 successful participants and good luck for the future The four Regional Tourism Organisations (Visit Northern Tasmania, East Coast Tasmania,West by North West and Destination Southern Tasmania) collaborated to support professional leadership development for regional tourism and hospitality businesses. The RTOs invested, along with the Building Better Regions Fund, to heavily reduce the cost of participation.

10.01.2022 We held our first Tips and Tipples (in person) event last night since February this year. We were excited to support over 120 industry members to reconnect with one another after four months of virtual catch ups. Thank you to Crowne Plaza Hobart for hosting us, and to our industry attendees for supporting this event and showing how large events can exist in a covid-safe environment. The event strictly adhered to covid-safe practices, including social distancing, individually plated canapes and seated drinks.

08.01.2022 We are proud to partner with the Tasmanian Government and Tourism Industry Council Tasmania, and be out on the road today, to talk about the T21 Recovery Plan with our industry operators in Franklin and Richmond. This has been valuable to hear their views, concerns and issues, so we can focus our support to where it is needed as we move forward. Thank you to Frank's Cider House and Cafe and Wattlebanks for their hospitality in hosting us today.

08.01.2022 AS COVID-19 restrictions in Tasmania continue to be lifted, I believe people will relish the opportunity to get out and about in their own state again. For as long as the road map to recovery is driven by public health (which Destination Southern Tasmania fully supports), the priority for Premier Peter Gutwein and his government will be to protect Tasmanians from this hideous virus. As a result, interstate visitors may not be able to travel to Tasmania until at least after Ju...Continue reading

07.01.2022 We’re urging Tasmanians to explore their own backyards on World Tourism Day tomorrow. Tourism is the lifeblood for many of Tasmania’s regional towns so why not get out and about and support the state’s world-class tourism and hospitality businesses. Destination Southern Tasmania

03.01.2022 Last night DST held its AGM at the Theatre Royal (Hobart) in front of nearly a hundred of our members and industry partners. We celebrated Vin Barron's extensive tenure on the board as previous chair and current elected member. Vin did not stand for reelection this year. We welcomed Rachael Trueman to the board, and re-elected board members, Dan Aitken and Jennifer Fitzpatrick. Afterwards, our industry were taken on a tour of the beautiful Theatre Royal. Today the board met with Premier Peter Gutwein to discuss regional priorities moving forward.

02.01.2022 We held our first physical board meeting, in person, and with virtual attendees, yesterday. The meeting presented a great opportunity to help our members (in this case ibis Styles Hobart) to test their Covid-safe business plans and procedures. The board focused on recovery initiatives and appointed Jennifer Fitzpatrick to the DST board in a vacant position. Welcome Jennifer!... The meeting was a great success and we’re excited that we’re starting to be able to meet with people face-to-face again, with social distancing and good hygiene practices. Thank you to the ibis Styles Hobart and Mr. Good Guy restaurant for having us.

01.01.2022 It's with enormous joy, pride and thanks that we share this gift to our industry from Dave Flower and the team at Hype. A masterpiece! Enjoy...
