23.01.2022 So cute my favourite of all the pics.
22.01.2022 Recently, going through early works to select a new group of paintings for greeting cards, I found this painting of Montpellier Opera House. There to hear Piers Lane play the Moszkowski and Paderewski piano concertos, I just couldn’t resist painting the sunshine through the rain.
20.01.2022 This `rhythms of light’ is 1.4 x 3 meters, a joy to work with so much colour interacting around. A couple of details are included so you can have a clearer idea... of being in the presence of a large painting. I have deliberately given it a veiled effect. I am keen to know if this work prompts any suggestions for you. Working with Sennelier French soft pastels this week. Wonderful. See more
19.01.2022 Going through my archives and this one popped out at me. 'Pink Improvisation' now resides with the Horsham gallery. The colours are so bright and a different pallet to my current works. It’s fun to remember this painting and to think back to the time when it was created. Every work, with time, holds a story and a memory.
19.01.2022 Dear Friends, There has been an attempt to hack my Facebook account. If you receive a request to be my friend please dismiss. Many thanks Di x
18.01.2022 When Siena’s Party’ was still hanging in the studio, I found that visitors were strongly drawn to the colours in the joyful energetic piece. My granddaughter S...iena was seven that day and her generous friends arrived with gifts. There was a colourful piñata, wrappings, ribbons, streamers and all manner of sweets and cakes a jumble of happy excess, of colours, noise, children, bits and pieces and life in the making. The lovely thick paint, partly layered in colourful strokes, is all a shade over the top. See more
18.01.2022 I have large canvases waiting for me to bring to life the beautiful frosty scenes of Bright from our recent winter visit. I was taken with how different the scene is in the winter months.
18.01.2022 Excited to be commissioned to paint a coastal scene on a large fine linen base 180 x 330 cm waiting to be prepared and painted in my studio. It will be fascinating to visit the location and cover numbers of preliminary studies in French pastel. This photo is intriguing because the negative reflections of the light occupy the upper space. For me, exploring negative reflections has been a life long venture in drawing and paint.
17.01.2022 THE GARDEN IS IN FULL BLOOM AND WE ARE PREPARING THE CHRISTMAS TREE. The hydrangeas are in full bloom here and they are providing the best show we have ever had. The house is scattered with vases of cuttings. Kirsten Bresciani (daughter in law and professional photographer) couldn't resist a fun photo shoot of Lorenzo and their boys (Lino Jnr and Luca) with the blossoms. Lino Bresciani has been lovingly growing our Christmas tree for two years running. We had a lovely eveni...ng with our two grandsons, who eagerly helped to decorate the small, (but a little bit taller than last year’s), tree. Do let me know if you would like an invitation to my Open Studio on the 3rd March. I hope you can attend and I look forward to welcoming you. Of course, you can always make an appointment for a private viewing (open March 3rd to 17th). In the meantime, warmest wishes for a wonderful Festive Season with family and friends and all the best for the New Year. See more
15.01.2022 The Eternal Choir painting, dating back to 1995, has finally been placed in an excellent position with fine lighting. A day light globe has been fitted and the painting looks now as I always thought it had been. It looked dull in a dark unlit spot at my Studio Opening and went almost unnoticed. I wanted to share with you how it is today. The original title was Tausend kleine engel singen.
13.01.2022 I have always appreciated my association with the Australian Music Examinations Board so it was a pleasure to select a few paintings to grace the walls of their new offices. It was a welcome surprise to realize their enjoyment of the works as shown in this article from their latest newsletter. If you have a moment to look at the pieces do let me know thoughts. https://www.ameb.edu.au/di-bresciani
12.01.2022 BOTANICAL GARDENS INSPIRATION Gardens always promise new blooms and hope, especially at this time of the year. I am still finding lots of inspiration in Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens. I thought you might enjoy this work which took on a life of its own and ended up with a certain interest I think. The colours are certainly a change for me. As always any comments are welcome. 09.01.2022 I hope you have all enjoyed a lovely Easter break. I used the time to go through some family photos. How the years have flown... and how all the grand children have grown! It is so rewarding to look back and cherish memories of family. Please share some of your memories if you have time.
06.01.2022 Emily Sun violinist and Clemens Leske pianist will present a recital Wednesday October 30th at 6 pm in the Primrose Potter Salon MRC. An intriguing artist Emily won the renowned ROSL Competition Solo Performance 2017 and received the YMF Prize in the Australian Young Performers’ Awards in 2018. (Emily plays as soloist with the Melbourne Symphony in the Myer Music Bowl in February 2020). This will be a special opportunity to hear her in intimate surrounds. Hoping to see you ...there Best wishes Di x See more
05.01.2022 There were a series of paintings and pastels of this scene looking out on Mount Buffalo in my studio. All have now found a home. So the thought occurred to visit the scene again and investigate the changing light with the Winter Season upon us. The first time I was totally surprised to find myself painting fences and trees who knows what will be revealed this time. Feeling very grateful to the folk who originally invited me to visit and paint there.
04.01.2022 All the excitement of Open Studio was fun but it is good to be returning to a quiet time working in the studio. This painting of the Botanic Gardens Melbourne, more than four metres wide is shown here on its way to a new home. Just around the corner so the owners walked it there.
01.01.2022 Have to share with you photographs of the fabulous recital on Sunday with Adrian Tamburini (basso cantabile) Lorina Gore (soprano) and Thomas Johnson (pianist). The program entranced with a range of Italian and French song, Italian and French arias and superb duos. These artists are reaching even higher musical zeniths, thank you Adrian Tamburini, Lorina Gore and Thomas for an unforgettable experience.
