23.01.2022 Looks like it’s SR20 time!

23.01.2022 Bearings installed. Now to measure the ID’s and grind the crank to suit.

23.01.2022 I’m no cinematic master, but you’ll get the idea. Trying out a simple DBW throttle conversion on the factory RB26 ITB setup.

23.01.2022 Work Emotion CR Kiwami (18x10.5) vs Work Emotion XD9 (18x10). XD9’s don’t even come close to fitting over the 355mm brakes (wedged in hard, even with spacers), while the Kiwami’s could probably accept 380mm.

21.01.2022 Walbro 460’s draw too much current for the factory plug to handle, so moving to larger studs is necessary to prevent puddles of plastic.

21.01.2022 The engine removal has begun

16.01.2022 Hillzy's paint & panel has been making progress on the GTST - unfortunately discovering my donor quarters were rust repaired while in Japan. A bit of welding and a lot of panel beating to get them tidy! As a bonus, it was a good excuse to throw on the 295’s and check for clearance throughout the suspension range. About 10mm extra flaring to accomodate for sidewall flex when it’s being thrown around the circuit. It’s nice working with motorsport enthusiasts like these guys - I can’t imagine many people thinking about tyre deformation and shock travel under load, and modifying to suit the application.

15.01.2022 Freshening up an SR20DET head after a bearing let go. Oil galleries are sealed from factory by pressing in a ball bearing, so to properly clean all the corners, these need to be removed. To make any future work easier, we’re tapping threads and fitting grub screws.

14.01.2022 One of the many little tasks that make up a complete build. EvoX rear calipers onto R32 GTR knuckles. This job will require a similar process to the 350Z Brembos I fitted to the S15 a few years ago, so no need to reinvent the wheel.

11.01.2022 While at #wtac yesterday, I stopped in at the We Are Likewise stand and instantly fell in love with the girthy knob of theirs - #thethiccboi. Half a kilo of stainless steel goodness. It’s destined for the R32 (along with a very short shift mechanism and the Likewise #therodstewart extension), but I was very surprised to find the Likewise knob fits perfectly onto the base of the OEM S15 leather item. It can live there until the R32 is ready (or I might buy another knob)!

11.01.2022 I’ll just throw an engine together > while I’m here I’ll just refurbish this part And this is why timeframes blow out!

11.01.2022 This is why we dummy fit before going through the motions! Although there was plenty of room behind factory R34 GTR wheels, the nice big Work Emotion XD9’s are about 4mm too small in barrel diameter to work with the custom brake setup.

01.01.2022 Know your limits; Bodywork is an artform best left to talented professionals. I've enlisted the help of Hillzy's paint & panel for this project. They have unstitched the GTST rear quarters and fitted/blended GTR items (making it about an inch wider per side).
