25.01.2022 Latest news and updates from the Dungog Common linked below.

23.01.2022 Harry's last field day was incredible popular, very glad to see him doing another one :)

23.01.2022 Two minute postcard of some of Dungog attractions - including the Dungog Common bike trails.

21.01.2022 Internal Road Closure. We are so thrilled to see so many people enjoying the Dungog Common, however, there are a few areas we need to improve to make your experience more enjoyable. We have plans underway for improved parking, access to the top, etc, but in the meantime, we have made the decision to close the internal road on weekends (accessed at Gate 3 behind Shelton's Bus Shelter) which takes you from Common Road to the top. This road will be closed from Friday nights to Sunday nights to ensure it is safe for all users and will help us retain the natural beauty of the Common. Therefore, please be prepared to walk or ride from the car parking area on Common Road - a wonderful opportunity to get post COVID-19 fit! Thank you so much for your understanding and support with this. If disabled access is required this will be feasible.

21.01.2022 Please stay off the flow track when it is wet, help us to keep it in great condition for everyone to enjoy.

21.01.2022 We are aware of the community concern regarding the current COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation, and are so thankful to live in a community where we are looking ou...t for the health and wellbeing of each other. We also understand the need for exercise, outdoor adventure and time in nature. Therefore, if you are visiting the Dungog Common to ride the mountain bike tracks can you please remember to physically distance (1.5m) and adhere to good personal hygiene. If you are unwell, please do not leave home. We sadly don't have facilities at the Common for hand washing (yet) so please pack your own hand sanitiser. We understand these are confusing and concerning times for many, but we do ask you to be aware that Ride Dungog and the Dungog Common are volunteer led organisations and the well-being of our community is our number one priority. 21.01.2022 A lovely article from Hunter Hunter about the Dungog Common

20.01.2022 Crown Lands has advertised a vacancy for a new member of the Dungog Common Recreation Reserve Land Managers. We encourage anyone who loves the Dungog Common and want to help us manage it for all users to apply for this voluntary position. https://boards.dpc.nsw.gov.au/home/view/642/

19.01.2022 Wise words from Ride Dungog, ... "this is about community, conversation and connection"

18.01.2022 It was a great day today as the earthworks for the construction of the much anticipated Dungog Common amenities block commenced. Funding has been provided through a grant from Crown Lands and local contractors are collaborating to complete the build. Once the pad is complete a temporary security fence will be erected, and we ask everyone to please stay away from the construction area to enable the work to proceed quickly and safely. A bonus of today’s work is that the dam below Shelton’s bus depot is being enlarged to provide materials for the pad, unfortunately the dam work will require the removal of two forest red gums.

16.01.2022 Well the school holidays are here and it is great to see so many young people enjoying the Dungog Common in this beautiful weather. Just a reminder that motor vehicles are excluded from the fire trails and access tracks for the duration of the holidays as an essential safety measure. There was a hitch yesterday when a truck delivering materials to the new amenities construction site damaged the Grid 3 gate and gate posts leaving the grid open for a few hours. Some cars did en...ter the site during that time but it was repaired last night and the grid is locked again so there should now be no motor vehicles within the fenced area of the common (apart from the workers on the construction site). Another new safety measure is a requirement for bike riders returning to the car park from the trails to dismount and walk for the last 50 meters or so - around the bend, through the gate and under the pipeline. There is a sign identifying the dismount point and we ask all riders to cooperate with this direction to reduce 2 way congestion on this section of track and make it safer for everyone. Remember, you may be an amazing rider and have great control over your bike but we have many beginners and young children riding the tracks so please hop off your bike at the dismount sign and show a great example to the newbies. .

16.01.2022 Changing over to the Spring Logo - a little late :)

16.01.2022 The weather has cleared up and the flow tracks are drying quickly. Therefore, all tracks will be open tomorrow. @eastcoastmountaintrails captured by @readyaimmedia #ridedungog

15.01.2022 Some very dramatic images shared by Daniel Cooksey. Thank you Daniel

13.01.2022 More great progress at the amenities block construction site.

12.01.2022 Great day for a late afternoon ride at the Dungog Common. I'm loving the friendliness and consideration everyone - locals and visitors, walkers and bike riders, horse riders, runners and dog walkers - are all showing each other as we enjoy this amazing 650 acre natural area. Many thanks to the lovely bike rider from Newcastle who delayed her run down the Flow track in order to snap these photos of my friends and I on our horses :)

12.01.2022 Thanks to Hunter Landcare at Ash Island we have 2 sturdy picnic tables. The last one was delivered today. A good spot for parents to watch their children on Tony's pump track.

12.01.2022 Money Matters The Dungog Common Recreation Reserve does not receive an ongoing or annual funding allocation from the local, state or federal governments. The Land Managers raise funds through grazing and event fees, donations and we bid for grants when available to develop new facilities on the Common. We have amazing volunteers who donate many hours of their time to help to maintain and improve facilities. We rely on community and visitor support to continue our operations so when you are next at the Common please drop some cash in the new bollards at the gate or scan the QR Code to donate. Thank you for your support dungogcommon.org/donate

12.01.2022 Thankyou to these generous volunteer workers.

12.01.2022 The June Dungog Common update linked below.

07.01.2022 Safety for All on the Dungog Common Important changes to motor vehicle access From Friday 19th September all fire trails and off-road access tracks at the Dungog Common will be closed to all motor vehicles on weekends, public holidays and during school holidays. ... Along the gravel section of Common Road Grids 3, 4 and 5 will be locked during these times. Emergency vehicles only will have access into the fenced area of the Common - including the flow track area. At other times, when the grids are open, we remind you that the speed limit on fire trails and off-road access tracks is 10 kms per hour The Land Managers are taking this action in response to the recent increase in visitor numbers and traffic, to provide a safer experience for all users of the Dungog Common. We are working on a comprehensive Motor Vehicle Management Plan and hope to be able to re-open some areas in the future if this can be done safely. Access for walkers, cyclists and horse-riders is not affected by these changes. We continue to support your enjoyment of our amazing MTB trail system, walking trails and natural areas: please park in the Rifle Range car park off Common Road. We ask all users to cooperate with these essential safety measures.

06.01.2022 You may have noticed work proceeding at the new entrance to the Common "Fig Tree Entrance" and also the amenities block site. We appreciate your cooperation in avoiding these areas while construction is taking place. Please be aware that there are some holes in the ground near the new entrance where posts from the old yards were removed, these will be filled as soon as possible but please continue to stay out of this area until the project is complete.

05.01.2022 Last week the Dungog Common hosted the Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie MP and provided an update on the mountain biking developments taking place across the region.

04.01.2022 Last week Ride Dungog launched an online fundraising campaign to help fund the design, community consultation and sustainable construction of two mountain bike tracks at the Dungog Common.
