15.01.2022 Three excellent biographies for #NAIDOCWeek What are you reading at the moment? Have you read one of these before? Let us know below

13.01.2022 If you’re not sure which First Nations book to read this #NAIDOCWeek, why not select one of these great nonfiction titles? There will hopefully be something here for everyone! . Talkin’ Up to the White Woman is an academic critique of white feminism and the exclusion of Blak voices and experiences in feminism. Dark Emu is a pretty accessible look at Aboriginal agriculture and land management, using the journals from Europeans as primary sources to disprove the ‘hunter gatherer’ myth and its negative connotations. Songspirals is a sweeping, incredibly emotive exploration of song lines. . If you’ve read one of these, leave your thoughts below! And if you haven’t, which one will you be reading next?

03.01.2022 Poetry is one of the most emotive and effective storytelling methods. It is also often defined by western/white ideas. What makes a poem a poem is not rules or line breaks or how many syllables a word has. One of the most important aspects of these poetry collections is their explicit and intentional rejection of traditional western notions of poetry. Some are messy, others are refined. Some are flowing, others are stilted and pained. Some are written in First Nations languages, others in English. They are all valid and will add life and dimension to your poetry collections at home. Please come chat to me (Jesse ) if you feel like gushing about Alison Whittaker’s poetry in particular. She’s one of my favourite poets

02.01.2022 11 days to go... RSVP below!

01.01.2022 Can anyone guess which new release we’re reading? We’re not very subtle
