20.01.2022 Did you know that Vincent Lingiari AM was an Australian Aboriginal rights activist and member of the Gurindji people? In his early life he became a stockman at Wave Hill Station, where the Aboriginal workers were paid only in rations, tobacco and clothing. #Elders #fromlittlethingsbigthingsgrow

19.01.2022 Can you see what I see? This was taken near Nebo in Central QLD on Sunday.. so happy to get this rare shot Some interesting facts about this beautiful bird: The Australian bustard (Ardeotis australis) is a large ground dwelling bird which is common at grassland, woodland and open agricultural country across northern Australia and southern New Guinea. This bustard stands at about one metre (several feet) high, the wingspan is around twice this length. The species is nomadic..., flying to areas when food becomes plentiful, and capable of travelling long distances. They were once widespread and common to open plains of Australia, becoming rare in regions that became populated during the colonisation of Australia. The diet of Ardeotis australis is omnivorous, they mostly consume the fruit or seed of plants, but include invertebrates such crickets or grasshoppers and smaller mammals, birds or reptiles. The species is also commonly referred to as the plains turkey, and in Central Australia as bush turkey, particularly by Aboriginal people who hunt it, although this name may also be used for the Australian brushturkey as well as the orange-footed scrubfowl. 08.01.2022 Something to remember as we go into our day

08.01.2022 I was going through old photos on the weekend and came across this oneThis photo was taken over 30 years ago, at Carnarvon Gorge in QLD. This is my Daughter Kara as a toddler, its not until now that I realise our ancestors guided us to this place so long ago. I can remember this day and the overwhelming feeling of being in awe of this beautiful artwork and being so happy to capture this beautiful photo of our little girl being surrounded by Spirit and of her being so happy ...to in this amazing space with her beautiful Ancestors Some information about the Carnarvon Gorge the lands of the Bidjara, Ghungalu, and Garingbal people: Carnarvon Gorge lies within the spectacular and rugged ranges of Queenslands central highlands. Lined with vegetation and fed by the waters of numerous side gorges, Carnarvon Creek winds between towering sandstone cliffs. The gorge is a cool and moist oasis within the dry environment of central Queensland. The fragile aboriginal art on the gorges sandstone walls reflects a rich culture. Ochre stencils of tools, weapons, ornaments and ceremonial objects, as well as engravings and grooves where tools were sharpened provide an insight into the lives of the gorges first people. Text above adapted from http://www.epa.qld.gov.au/parks_and_forests/.

08.01.2022 This doesnt happen everyday I was thrilled to see this deadly site on Friday when driving with my Grandchildren near Middlemount in Central Qld. A beautiful learning moment when we came across Daddy Emu and his baby Chick. Some interesting FACTS-Did you know that: The male incubates eggs for 55 days. He doesnt eat, drink or defecate, and rarely leaves the nest during this time, losing up to 8kg in the process. He stays with the young for two years, defending them and teaching them how to find food. While they walk and forage they softly whistle to each other. The chicks can reproduce at 18 months. Emus live for 5 to 10 years in the wild.

07.01.2022 Look no further if you are looking for books on Bush Tucker...

05.01.2022 I will be hosting a Zoom session as part of the Stories from Cherbourg course tonight from 7pm-9pm. This work has came about from my Global Leader project in 2016-2018 and is something that I am very passionate about. There are limited spaces left so grab your ticket from the link below and join me for a professional conversation about our Australian History and the effects that is has had and is still having on families today..

02.01.2022 Further to my post yesterday morning re: the Carnarvon Gorges beautiful artwork. As I was researching to find information about the Gorge to add to my post I found this article. I was devastated to see that the artwork that was in my photo has been destroyed due to the recycled plastic walkway exploding into flames Apparently this happened in 2018, the article that I found was written in January 2020. Why was this not in the news? Another Aboriginal landmark unavailable for our Future Elders in its original form #whatarewedoing #ancestors #spirit #futureelders #caringformotherearth #caringforcountry #aboriginal #artwork

01.01.2022 Meeanjin Markets not to be missed..
