25.01.2022 Did you know that Caesar Salad was invented in Mexico in 1924? Italian-American restaurateur Caesar Cardini owned a restaurant in Tijuana, Mexico, where he attracted Americans frustrated by the Prohibition in the US. While the technicalities of the birth of this dish are disputed, the general consensus is that Cardini threw together a bunch of ingredients he had on hand over the 4th of July weekend and served what we now know as Caesar Salad to his friends (with a few minor a...lterations later made by his brother). 14.01.2022 Baked beans have been a breakfast staple for many people throughout history; from the ancient Egyptians stewing them with beer, to indigenous Americans baking them in earthenware pots with maple syrup, and to the French slow cooking them as a stew. The baked bean as we know it (a convenience food) came to be when pilgrims from Europe arrived in America around the 17th century and learned recipes from the indigenous people there. As their religion forbade cooking on the sabba...th, pilgrims cooked their baked beans as a Saturday supper and kept them warm in a wood-fired oven to be eaten for breakfast after church on Sundays.
