22.01.2022 September 5 is the feast day of St Teresa of Calcutta, famously known as Mother Teresa. She dedicated her life to the poorest of the poor, working in the slums, and treating those who are sick and has no one to care for them. 21.01.2022 Aug 28 is the feast day of St. Augustine of Hippo. He is the patron saint of brewers. His conversion to Catholicism was attributed to the perseverance in prayer of his mother, St Monica. He used to live a life full of bad habits and worldly desires. His complete turnaround from living life as a sinner to being a Christian convert has been an inspiration to many who are struggling in the same way. St Augustine, pray for us. #staugustine #staugustineofhippo

19.01.2022 Social Justice Sunday will be celebrated on Aug 30 this year. In the Social Justice Statement 2020-21, To Live Life to the Full: Mental health in Australia Today, the Bishops invite us all to reject stigmatisation, to work for the transformation of social determinants of mental ill-health and to call for policies and service provision that meets the needs of the poor and marginalised. The COVID-19 pandemic is affecting the mental health of many members of our parishes, schools and communities. Understanding mental health will help us to be aware of those who need our support. https://socialjustice.catholic.org.au//social-justice-sta/

13.01.2022 Why is Holy Thursday sometimes called 'Maundy Thursday'? The word "Maundy" is derived from the Latin word mandatum, or "mandate." This word is used in the Latin... text for John 13:34: "Mandatum novum do vobis ut diligatis invicem sicut dilexi vos." Or, in English: "A new commandment I give unto you; that you love one another; as I have loved you." Holy Thursday is thus sometimes called Maundy Thursday because it was on this day that Christ gave us the new commandment - the new mandate - to love one another as he loves us.
