23.01.2022 I actually wanted to introduce to everyone our other business we have been quietly working on. This was an accidental Business that took some convincing for Theo to jump on board. All l can say that it has been life transforming and as crazy as it sound it has enable our hearts (Eat Real crew and my own family) capacity to just grow and give more than we can imagine. But before l do that (will post later) l really need to express my graditute and my thankfulness to one amaz...ing lady who has been by myself through it all. We are also excited to announce that after a long hard battle she is now on Permanent Residence. While l was supporting our young people with disability l was also fighting to keep Irene here. Even when it seems impossible l never gave up even working 2-3 other jobs 80hr weeks just to keep everyone employed and keep the shop just above waters. After 7 years, sleepless night, daily tears and weeks on even months l didn’t get a break or day off l can say it has been worth it. This amazing person is Irene who was even told that she was not not good enough/ smart enough or that she didn’t have the ability to run a business properly has proved that it’s doesn’t matter what experience you have or talent what matters the most is that your WILLING and not afraid to jump to any challenges because this is where the growth and character building begins. I have known her personally for 20 yrs working with me in a Chinese restaurant to now helping run an amazing business. I consider her like a sister an Aunty to my girls and a great boss to all our staff and to our Eat Real family. Thank you Irene for loving my business as your own, for standing by me when l wanted to throw it in and if it wasn’t for your willingness, dedication and believing in my crazy out of the world vision of Eat Real l wouldn’t be able to do what l do and that is to ‘Create opportunity for change. 22.01.2022 For those who are always wanting to know what drives me to do what l do and the whys. This pix shows you a little insight of me. This truly represents my role and what lm called for. This picture brings soo many emotion when l see this because at times l know that been a mum isnt that natural for me which as a family unit we are all OK with this and what l lack l have strength elses where. My business has been a great reflection of all this. We at Eat Real believed that w...e are more than a food company that our role in this community is to guide/ teach / nurture those who comes into our business and also be the example of what they can be. All l want to to do is give time and people the opportunity to see their potential but also be the one who will be honest/ compassion and not afraid to jump with them with both feet. The struggle they feel when they cant fit in, or accepted and when they are conditioned and limited to their environment this is what l felt l growing up. Born in a third world county, been a female, living and experiencing 2 countries where my mother tongue language was foreign to now residing in this amazing country. Been Filo and growing up here l was stuck in the betweens trying to fit in both culture because even though l look Filo, had the great hospitality culture and been family focus where work is a priority to provide, l no longer spoke the lingo therefore to most l wasnt really Filo. But at the same time l struggle with the Australian Culture growing up, where it was normal to voice your opinion and that it was ok in school yard to boast the latest toy/ play dates/ and clicky group. This was so new to me. I love and worked tirelessly for my business to where it is and that l can finally say without feeling shame & that despite the ups and down of everyday business and life itself that I AM PROUD of may Filo heritage and also to be Australian where there is no limit to what we can do. Where both world no longer crashes but have given me the best to two worlds and this is where we fit. Eat Real culture is about creating a new kind of family in our community whether its through nutrition/ mentoring/ work experience / employment/ or feeding and supporting those who are needing to get back on their feet. 05.01.2022 Happy happy Saturday... Another busy week we welcome Ehrin to our team at Eat Real. He is doing his work placement hours with us and when l asked him how do you describe working with us. This is what he said... ‘The fast and the furious’ but lots of fun and ‘lm learning so many things. I love that you guys are all hands on and l can’t believe how you can work with such a diversity of people in one room with different needs and still be able to get everyone working together.... I heard what you did but didn’t see how your business works but all l can say is that it really works!!! Ehrin is doing such a great job and it seems like he has been with us for a while and that he has worked well with everyone. Loved this week menu most challenging would be the vegan burritos making the gfree burrito wrap after an hour we finally got it and was worth it. Thank you to those who loves our meals and continued support we are growing in our capacity to keep our mentoring session and also our ability to give to those in needs with nutrition meals and support other organisation. We will announce shorty our special pack for catering and also after many request for our Christmas Day Catering Pack to be available again this year. 02.01.2022 When your ready to come in just come in Last week we had a full house on Wednesday mentoring session. Online/ catering and 4 young people beside our usual staff all in space. One thing they all had in common was how anxious and nervous they were. I told each one of them that is was good thing because they really care and want to be here and when they are ready to come in and work they just need to enter the door. ... Everyone did such a great job and they realise it wasn’t as bad they thought and enjoyed them self. They asked if they can come and help out when they can and l said My door and space is always open for all of you. They all left feeling like they were part of a team and that they were been productive and was able to help us. Which they all did. As parents /carers we tend to (physically) push or nudge our kids forward to doing something new. I wanted them to come in when they were ready and this usually set them up to owning it. This is already a success in my eyes they all made the choice to go through the door and the prep/ washing/ packaging food is just them learning new skills. Sometime we look at success at the doing part and final result but success with Eat Real starts with making the choice to step forward and to go through it.
