08.01.2022 Coronavirus (COVID-19) UP-DATE (Monday 16 March): With the safety of everyone in our scene and in the wider community of our utmost concern, we can advise that: - our 19th century dance and costume Weekend (JAFA 2020) will not go ahead as planned on 18 & 19 April, and we will post a further update and contact ticket holders with more information next week. ... - our Wednesday evening dance classes and their subscriptions will be put on hold till at least till the end of July when we hope to be able to safely resume (plan to be confirmed in 4 months time). We will make a decision in the next day or so as to whether have one final class on March 16 to which will participates bring a dance requests and offers to guest call or whether we make our farewell by email! - the Saturday afternoon ANU class is run by the ANU Sports Union, not myself, and they have told me they will update myself and participants this Friday, so I will update this page with that news as soon as I receive it. Big thanks to everyone who joined this Semester and gave us a wonderful first three weeks. - our 3rd Saturday of the month Kingston hall balls will not run for the next 5 months. We have retained bookings for 3rd Saturday of September, October, November and December so hopefully we can make a grand return to balls in Spring (hopefully in 6 months time on 19 September, but will update plans closer to date). - the state of bookings for myself and the band to perform for other organisations over the next 6 months will be kept under review, and everyone concerned kept updated as best we can. To dancers, dance leaders, musicians and all who make our scene possible, many thanks for your amazing support over so many years of uninterrupted 'earthly delights', and many thanks for your forbearance as we work through all necessary rearrangements this year. Best wishes to all till I write again, John Gardiner-Garden.
07.01.2022 This article has a good recommendation: Please consider asking artists and attendees not to attend your event if they have respiratory symptoms, a travel history in the last 21 days to an area with local transmission, or physical contact history with a suspected/confirmed Coronavirus case. And not in the article but an easy way to remember how long to wash your hands: Wash your hands like you were just chopping chilli and now you need to put your contacts in.... https://www.danceplace.com/gr/dance-in-the-time-of-corona/

06.01.2022 Coronavirus (COVID-19) UP-DATE (Saturday 14 March): We are following developments closely and the safety of everyone in our scene and in the wider community is of utmost concern. We can advise that:... - we will be considering this coming week whether to proceed with our long-looked-forward-to '19th century dance and costume Weekend' (JAFA 2020) in its planned form on 18 & 19 April, and we will post a further update relevant to this on Saturday 21 March, and if at any stage plans look like changing will contact ticket holders. - we are holding off advertising all the wonderful events we have planned for May through to December this year. - we are continuing for the moment with our Saturday afternoon and our Wednesday evening dance classes, but are asking all in attendance to make frequent use of our hand-sanitisers, and asking anyone who has reason to suspect their own health to not attend that week's class. To dancers, dance leaders, musicians, hall-hirers, and all who make our scene possible, many thanks for your forbearance and our apologies for any inconvenience caused by the present uncertainty. Till this time next week, Your sincerely, John Gardiner-Garden
