18.01.2022 I’m very pleased to announce our raffle winners. Paul Roumeliotis ($2,000) and Michelle Tankard ($1,000). It’s been pretty tough trying to raise funds during lockdown, but we got there in the end. Thankyou for your donation, this fundraising will keep us financially secure. And Thankyou to ASCOT Partners and Mick Catanzariti for sponsoring the prizes. Bring on ‘21, but see you at the Doutta Stars Cricket Club for a beer first.

18.01.2022 Play footy at EDSFC in 2021. Registrations for junior and senior footy are now open. If you don’t want you don’t need to pay any fees just yet, other than the compulsory $10 registration levy applied by the EDFL. Also, all subs payed for 2020 automatically roll over. Regardless, all players and volunteers need to re-register. Go to either www.essendondouttastars.com.au/junior-football/regos OR www.essendondouttastars.com.au/senior-football/regos A great community footy club since 1946!

17.01.2022 Josh Sampson recommits for 2021. Josh is a hard working ressie that is as cuddly as a teddy off field and strong as an ox onfield. Good stuff Joshy!

16.01.2022 Mitch Jensen recommits for 2021. Jeno is certainly one of our champs. Of his 290 games of footy, he’s played 212 at the Stars, numerous rep games and a couple of years with Footscray VFL. He’s also smashed out 350 goals. Jeno loves getting under the skin of the opposition and is the most likely to collect a bag of 50m penalties and Blue Cards during the season. But, a former coach once told me that Mitch adds a special and important spark to the team (both on and off the field). Great to have you back Jeno.

16.01.2022 Aleesha Hobbs - proudly sponsored by the Lewis Family. Hope you and the team have a great season Aleesha. Go Stars!

16.01.2022 Caitlyn Ferrer recommits for 2021. Caitlyn is one of our barnstorming senior women’s team of 2019 and can’t wait to be tested in Premier Division next year. I’m certainly better than my sister said Caitlyn with a throw-away comment today. Great to have you back Caitlyn.

15.01.2022 Olivia Anderson recommits for 2021. Olivia has played U18s for the past couple of years and has shown herself as a gun forward. We wish you all the best with the senior women in 2021 Liv.

13.01.2022 Ray Eid recommits for 2021. Despite having only one arm and a hand growing from his right shoulder, Razor managed to win joint B&F in the 2019 Ressies (*L. Rowley demanded a recount). The playing group also voted Ray the prestigious Softest Hands award, owing (in part) to his job as a physio. Welcome back fella.

13.01.2022 Paul Claytons Bradbury - Legend Don Bradbury was an official with Doutta Stars in its early days so when his son Paul was looking to play footy there was only one option for him. He started as an 8 y/o in 1970 and doesn’t recall having a lot of success in the juniors. One year he would play with Craig Hicks and Darren Cootee and they had some success but he was often playing in the seconds or missing out. Claytons began his senior career among the 3rds but he was not abl...e to play football as often as he would have liked as he had commenced his own business at age 20 and that took first priority. In the late 80s Paul finally played in a winning premiership team and then took on the role as coach. Unfortunately the teams stumbled at the final hurdle and were runners up in both years. Claytons says he still has not got over the disappointment of those losses. Paul returned from his successful business activities to become president of the club in 1998 when it was in B Grade. He gathered good people around him and built a ‘can do’ approach at the club. The result was a successful season winning the flag and being promoted back to A Grade for 1999. Their winning form continued and they became the first and only team to win an A Grade premiership straight after being promoted from B Grade. Paul describes those 2 years as his biggest highlight at Douttas, especially when he recalls the smiles that the success brought to so many faces. After the success of the seniors Paul set about developing the skills of junior players and that resulted in an Under 18 flag as well. The Claytons journey started when he was 8 years old and was a slow build to its peak almost 30 years later when as president of the club he provided the leadership and direction for members and players to give their best and achieve success both on and off the field. Paul is an entrepreneur and legendary leader who continued his family tradition at Douttas and helped to create a winning culture at the club. 11.01.2022 Jackson Howard recommits for 2021. We’re wrapped to have Jacko back at the Stars in 2021. The feisty midfielder came 3rd in the 2019 2s B&F. See you in ‘21 mate.

11.01.2022 Jake Brown recommits for 2021. It was a black and white decision for J. Brown to re-sign with the Stars. When quizzed on his performance compared to brother Karl, Jake quickly retorted, I bagged 13 in our 224 point win over Craigieburn in Rd 4, 2012. I bet Pup hasn’t kicked that many. For the record, we think K. Browns best tally is 6. Nothing like a bit of brotherly love. Both Stars!

07.01.2022 Vale - Grant Thomas Last Wednesday evening Grant Thomas passed away. Grant ran our Auskick Program for the last 4 years with the help of his partner Georgie.
