20.01.2022 Awoonga this weekend freezing south easterly winds and rain. We found a few fish in the back of the bay. Tommy was anchoring up I caught a ninety six. We put the rear panoptix tx down and bang there was a whole school just sitting behind the boat in about 13 ft of water. The game changer just threw all the old theories out the window again. ... So we continued to fish no bites but we could see our lures coming through around 4 feet. So I put a Samaki Redic deepdiver bang hooked up straight away 85cm. Just cleaned out the boat. Threw out all our lures Starting again. So if your still sitting there on a point or bay looking at your side scan thinking to your self yep there’s fish coming through. 07.01.2022 A great week had by all. We had a great pre fish and we started well in the comp holding 4 th position in the first two night events. We were ready for a top three finish coming into the last night event. On the last day Tommy dropped his first fish a 2.30 and that seemed to be the order of the day after that. Tommy Wood dropped 5 fish and I dropped one. It felt like we flying kites rather than hooking fish. That’s what happens when your gun spot is in the trees Night 1 w...as an average night we sat on a weed island for 6 hours caught nothing and in the next two hours caught 4 fish. Night 2 we caught 6 fish and jumped off another 10 fish. This started our demise into the third night. Still a great event thanks ABT and Steve Morgan. Thanks to our sponsors Garmin Barra Jacks Kawana Samaki Lures. The Garmin panoptix was great the most important tool on the boat. I can’t wait to share some of the knowledge we picked up so we can pass it on to our customers. Samaki what can I say about there gear. We used Samaki rods which were unbelievable. The Samaki Redic lure was the gun lure we threw most of the comp. It was the best hard bodied lure used for Barra fishing by us. We used them at Monduran and Awoonga. This lure will be bigger than Ben Hur with Barra fisherman it suspends perfectly and has hooks that hold Barra out of the box.
