23.01.2022 A few more Buick Nailhead intake manifolds for plenum modifications. These engines have really taken off in this country. I’ve gone from doing 7-10 engines a year to this year, completed 4 currently have 8 in the shop and have 5-7 more coming in. Not to mention the 5 or 6 sets of heads if done and sent off all over the country! Here are some shots of me mocking up the bottom end, measuring deck heights and then setting blocks up in the mill to machine the decks down to give desired deck height. 14.01.2022 The owner of this beautiful Flathead Ford V8 stroker came in today to drop off some more goodies for his build. This one has been a long term project but another no corners cut build. It certainly has all paid off, it certainly looks the goods. It still needs a few tweaks here and there and a few more decisions need to be made. 13.01.2022 A 1956 322ci Buick Nailhead 4 barrel manifold that I’ve machined to be dual plane. I’ve also machined up an adapter plate to be able to fit a larger modern Edelbrock carb. This modification carried out on a healthy engine is good for up to 50 horsepower over the standard setup! 12.01.2022 And I’m done! Both Buick blocks line bored to bottom size. All sharp edges hand filed, bearings fitted out to both blocks, crush and contact checked and confirmed. Sizes for the crank have been obtained and both cranks have been dropped off to my grinder for re-grinding. 10.01.2022 I’ve finally found some time to get this 1920’s Rover 16 apart and through the cleaning tanks. It certainly is very complicated for the era. Single over head solid roller cam on the intake and a solid roller cam follower with a horizontal pushrod operating a rocker arm for the exhaust. Tubular connecting rods, I didn’t believe it when I saw it but the beam of the rod is hollow!! For the 20’s!! 07.01.2022 Another little Alfa Romeo for the guys @hvraustralia This one is a 2ltr version and apparently has some suspicious timing chain related noises. Otherwise it is strong and healthy. I will carry out the minimum tear down to inspect and diagnose and hopefully it will go back together with nothing more than some fresh gaskets and a new chain set. 01.01.2022 Another awesome Buick nailhead project I’m proud to be a part of. This one is a blown 401. Originally built in Australia in the 60’s with 6-71 equipped 425 (purchased brand new from Buick USA), it has traded hands a few times over and has managed to find its way into the hands of the son of the original builder. The blown 425 is longer with it, however it will be replaced with a 6-71 equipped 401. This is an awesome story and I’m glad to be a part of it.
