23.01.2022 October is Mental Health Awareness month. While this message is always important, it's essential during particularly challenging times like we've all experienced this year. Here's five tips to help keep you healthy inside and out. If you'd like to book an appointment to speak with a GP, please call our Elizabeth, Golden Grove, Greenwith, or Paralowie clinics, or visit www.familyhealthgroup.com.au

21.01.2022 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. It's an opportunity for us all to be breast aware and support those affected by the disease in our community. Early detection is essential, and a quick and simple self-check can help you to identify any changes, including: A new lump or lumpiness, especially if it's only in one breast.... A change in the size or shape of your breast. A change to the nipple, such as crusting, ulcer, redness, or inversion. A nipple discharge that occurs without squeezing. A change in the skin of your breast such as redness or dimpling. An unusual pain that doesn't go away. Remember, most changes aren’t due to breast cancer, but it’s essential to see your GP without delay if you notice any of these changes. To book an appointment, please call our Elizabeth, Golden Grove, Greenwith, or Paralowie clinics, or visit www.familyhealthgroup.com.au

18.01.2022 Today is R U OK? Day. It's a day to remind us to check in with family and friends because a conversation could save a life. If you or someone you know is struggling with life's ups and downs, there is help available. The R U OK? website is a great place to start and has lots of useful resources. You can also speak with our GPs. To book an appointment, please call our Elizabeth, Golden Grove, Greenwith, or Paralowie clinics, or visit www.familyhealthgroup.com.au

18.01.2022 ePrescriptions are coming! We’re starting to roll out secure electronic prescriptions (or ePrescriptions) at our clinics. An ePrescription is a prescription that is electronically generated and sent to your mobile phone or computer. It provides convenient access to medicines, supports telehealth consults, enhances a contactless experience, and means fewer lost prescriptions.... You can use an ePrescription in the same way as a paper prescription to get medicines from your pharmacy. Paper prescriptions will still be available to use if you choose. To prepare for using ePrescriptions, please make sure your address, email address, and mobile number are up to date when you visit our clinic next. It’s also useful to check with your local pharmacy to see if they’re able to manage ePrescriptions at this time. Please speak to your doctor or our reception staff for more information.

18.01.2022 Well done SA! Keep up the great work!

15.01.2022 Bowel Cancer Awareness Month is a timely reminder for us all to be aware of any changes and especially for those aged 50 to 75 to screen for bowel cancer using a free, simple test at home. Around one in 23 Australians will develop bowel cancer during their lifetime one of the world’s highest rates. The good news is that if found early, 9 out of 10 cases of bowel cancer can be successfully treated. If you’re aged between 50 and 75, use your free, simple test at home. If you have any concerns talk to your GP, or call the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program Infoline on 1800 118 868. Together, let’s keep ourselves healthy.

12.01.2022 With the staged re-opening of SA, our clinic has again made some temporary changes. For your safety: We offer a telehealth consult first (Medicare access restrictions to telehealth has now been reinstated). If a face-to-face consult is required, it will be safe for you and arranged by your doctor. We have screening triage at the clinic entrance.... All staff and patients are requested to wear a face mask while in the clinic. Consults are time-limited to 15 minutes or less. If you have symptoms of fever, sore throat, cough, shortness of breath or a loss of sense of smell or taste, please get a COVID-19 test. Please refer to the SA Health website (https://bit.ly/32OluXK) for a list of COVID-19 clinics and testing centres. Together, we can help protect each other from COVID-19.

11.01.2022 We’re open and are COVID safe. Currently, we encourage a telehealth consult with your GP first, but if you need to attend our clinic for a face-to-face appointment, it’s safe to do so. We have a COVID Safe Plan in place and a COVID-SAfe QR code check-in when you arrive. If you don’t have a mobile device, our reception team can record your details on our COVID contact tracing form. ... SA Health requires all patients and staff to wear a face mask inside our clinic. At this time, we can provide a mask if you don’t have one. Together, we can protect each other.

10.01.2022 A big, big thank you to our wonderful nurses for everything you do to help keep us safe. Wishing you all a happy Nursing in the Community Week!

10.01.2022 During the current COVID-19 outbreak in Adelaide, we have reintroduced a number of measures at our clinic for the safety of our patients, doctors, and staff. These safety measures include: Encouraging telephone appointments (where possible). Limiting the time of face-to-face appointments. Requesting that all patients wear a face mask while in the clinic.... We are also continuing to observe social distancing >1.5m and are limiting the number of patients in our waiting room. If you have symptoms of the flu, a cold, or a loss of sense of smell or taste, then a COVID-19 test is necessary. Please refer to the SA Health website (https://bit.ly/32OluXK) for a list of COVID-19 clinics and testing centres. If you are unwell and have respiratory symptoms, please ask for a telephone appointment with a GP, and a safe review will be arranged. Please be assured that our clinic is COVID-19 safe. The Government has restricted Medicare GP telehealth items to circumstances where a patient has an existing relationship with a general practice (i.e., the patient has visited a GP in the practice face-to-face in the last 12 months), other than for children aged under 12 months or patients who are homeless. A private or gap fee may be incurred for telephone or video consults.

01.01.2022 During the SA lockdown, the safety of our patients, doctors, and staff is our priority, so we’ve introduced some temporary changes. For your safety: SA Health has requested that we delay non-essential healthcare services, including immunisations, minor surgery, health checks, and Allied Health visits. We offer a telehealth consult first. If a face-to-face consult is required, it will be safe for you and arranged by your doctor. ... Medicare access restrictions to telehealth have been waived during the lockdown. We have screening triage at the clinic entrance. All staff and patients are requested to wear a facemask while in the clinic. Consults are time-limited to 15 minutes or less. Remember, hand hygiene, cough and sneeze catching, and social distancing of at least 1.5m is our best protection. Stay home and stay safe, but please get a COVID-19 test if you have symptoms. We’re all in this together.

01.01.2022 This year, Diabetes Australia has launched a campaign to raise awareness of the real impact diabetes can have on a person’s mental and emotional wellbeing. They estimate that people with diabetes face up to 180 diabetes-related decisions every day. That’s more than 65,000 extra decisions a year! If you have diabetes and feel frustrated, sad, worried, down, or depressed, you're not alone. Professional support is available, so please reach out. The early detection and treatment of diabetes is important to reduce the risk of serious complications. If you haven't been previously diagnosed with diabetes and are showing possible symptoms such as increased thirst, urination, and tiredness, or have slow-healing wounds or persistent infections, it's a good idea to book an appointment with your GP to arrange a simple blood test.
