25.01.2022 CHINA: UPDATE: STEEL TRAP DOG RESCUED! Chinese rescuers saved the dog with the steel trap clamped on it's face! Expat foreigners just went to the location an hour ago, to save the dog, but were told the dog was already in hospital. So they went to the vet clinic to visit him. His injury is on the 'other side' of his face. His jaws are damaged so he'll stay in hospital for a while. You can see its the same dog by how deathly skinny he is! Poor little guy couldn't eat with the steel trap clamped on the side of his face. "Thank You" to everyone involved in helping this dog. Very happy he's now safe. 19.01.2022 VIETNAM: PRAYERS NEEDED FOR POOR 'LINUS' We've just received word that our mouth bound rescue dog 'Linus' is now fighting for his life. He was electrocuted by dog thieves who bound his mouth shut, then dragged him behind their motorbike. His face rotted off and his 4 paws and legs badly injured. Linus is battling severe sepsis infection and advanced E.cannis blood parasites. We're told the infection has set off the blood parasites; which can be fatal. Please say a prayer for ...dear Linus. He's in central Vietnam which is over 1,000+ miles from our main vet Dr. Nghia in Saigon. Linus is too ill to move to Saigon. 19.01.2022 VIETNAM: PUBLIC BUSES SHIPPING DOG MEAT PUPS Dog traders in Hanoi use public buses to send live dog meat puppies to buyers, for the pups to be slaughtered for meat. The woman dog trader behind these puppies was selling 35 puppies for meat. Pups are paid for over the phone then put in milk crates and put in the sun on the edge of the road. As the bus pulls up the puppies are loaded into the luggage compartment under the bus - WITH NO AIRCONDITIONING. The woman boasts she'll sh...ip the pups anywhere. With the heat and engine fumes many pups must arrive dead, or near death from heat stroke and fumes. The frustrating thing is that this is 'not' illegal because there's no animal protection laws! Its outrageous and unethical in every way; but not illegal in Vietnam. 13.01.2022 Good morning. This is our DMT SURVIVOR 'SAMMY', IN REHAB IN VIETNAM. This is one of Sammy's favorite toys, in rehab at Ali's. Sammy loves a good tug of war! Sammy's one of our little miracle boys - because his transformation emotionally and physically is astounding, thanks to Ali's excellence in understanding dogs. Ali taught Sammy to laugh again and gave him his confidence back. Sammy's blossomed into the most beautiful little man. // SAMMY'S BACKSTORY: This is Sammy's perma...nent face. He was electrocuted by dog thieves, who bound his mouth shut and sold him to a butcher. Sammy escaped and ran all the way home, with his mouth still bound shut. His family instantly rejected him because his face was rotting off under the bindings. They kicked him to the street and SAMMY LAY OUTSIDE HIS FAMILY GATE FOR ONE ENTIRE WEEK - WITH HIS MOUTH STILL BOUND SHUT AND ROTTING OFF! UNABLE TO EAT OR DRINK. Sammy's own family betrayed him!!! Eventually a rescuer arrived and found Sammy still laying outside the family gate. The family wanted money for the rescuer to remove him. A big fight broke out and eventually the family said Sammy could be removed. (FFS!) Fight Dog Meat had Sammy at our vet in Hoi An, central Vietnam, Dr. Trinh. Then we flew Sammy (and Tony) to Saigon, to our main vet surgeon Dr. Nghia P.h.D. After months in hospital we transferred Sammy to our rehab expert Ali. This is when Sammy really started to blossom. 13.01.2022 VIETNAM: OUR DMT SURVIVOR 'STAN' DOING GREAT! Stan looks amazing now. We adopted him to a wonderful foreigner family living permanently in Saigon. When we rescued Stan he was close to death. He was 1 year old and couldn't walk. He could barely stand and he'd shuffle then lay down. Stan was dying as a bag of bones with fur. We had him in hospital for several months! Then we adopted him to his great family and look at him now. Because he was only young but huge in size, when he... was first adopted he accidentally broke lots of things inside the family home. Woops! Fortunately he's learned that galloping inside the house when you're the size of a pony is not always good. Stan finally worked out that fast running is done outside in his huge (very safe) gated yard. He also has a big sister because the same family also adopted Kira, another of our DMT survivors. Kira is faster than Stan and she keeps him in line. Stan's the little brother (even though he's 3 times Kira's size. :) Always love happy updates. 12.01.2022 VIETNAM: POLICE ARREST ANOTHER DOG THIEF. "THANK YOU" to police in Bien Hoa City security who caught the dog thief with dozens of electrocuted dead dogs. At 4am 3 men were seen acting suspiciously. As security officials approached the thieves, they produced weapons and sprayed the security officials with chili spray to try and blind them. 2 thieves got away but this 1 was caught. He was arrested and handed over to police for prosecution. Police are calling for dog owners in t...he area to identify their pet dog; this will aid the prosecution of the thieves when the case goes to court. 11.01.2022 VIETNAM: TERRIBLE FLOODS IN CENTRAL VIETNAM One of our rescue team took this video a couple of days ago in central Vietnam; the dog is rescued. Flood waters have continued to rise as cyclone Nangka wreaks havoc across Vietnam and Cambodia. Dozens of people have lost their life; dozens more are missing. Loss of animal life must be extremely high. Not only dogs and cats, but livestock pigs, goats, buffalo, chickens, etc. Its a catastrophic situation for so many people (including our rescue friends and animals.) 10.01.2022 VIETNAM: LITTLE BOY MAKING GOOD PROGRESS. We're helping a local rescuer who lives a long way from Saigon. She has 12 rescue dogs and one needed urgent help. FDM stepped in and we're helping this dear little dog. The dog had severe bleeding skin disease and severe blood parasites (which are often fatal.) He was in hospital for a week and now the rescuer's giving him the vet's medicines each day at home. She's doing a good job nursing him. He's already looking a lot better. We...'ll keep you updated. 08.01.2022 VIETNAM: OWNERS NEED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. Its dangerous to let any dog or cat wander around in Vietnam. Pets WILL be stolen and either sold or butchered. There's a misconception among some pet owners in Vietnam that having a pet dog behind a locked gate or walking it on a leash is viewed as punishing a dog. Its the ONLY way to keep a dog safe! Its irresponsible to let your dog walk around free with dog thieves driving past. The owner of the dogs in the video posted the str...eeet security footage to try and get her 'stolen' dogs back. Dogs and cats are NOT TOYS - they depend on their owner to keep them safe. In a country with no animal protection laws and millions of dogs in the dog meat trade - people must start to take responsibility for their pet dogs. 08.01.2022 VIETNAM: DOG TRUCK HURTLING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. A local animal lover was heartbroken to see this loaded dog truck hurtling down the road while she was driving home from work. Vietnam's dog meat trade is the most dangerous of all. It's impossible for animal lovers to halt these speeding trucks. Vietnam is a country where dog thieves shoot electric 'steel arrow head prong' guns into people who get in their way; leaving people maimed or killed. Trucks will just go over the top of ...you! // Vietnam is a communist country where all forms of protest are strictly prohibited. The law is enforced with serious consequences against anyone who dares to go against the State. // Vietnam is NOT China - they are two different countries which are NOT related in any way. China is much more relaxed. Many things 'can' be done in China which can NOT be done in Vietnam. Fight Dog Meat is trying to help our FDM supporters learn factual differences between the countries. 08.01.2022 CHINA: 7 SAVED DOGS ARRIVING AT BOHE'S SHELTER. Bohe has given me several videos of the 7 saved dogs arriving at her shelter. The videos show all 7 dogs were successfully unloaded at her shelter. She said "thank you" to everyone who helped by donating or sharing. Normally Bohe's volunteers are handed the rescued dogs as they go though her shelter gate. But not this time. NOTE: the bald man is the dog vendor - he was was in a hurry and refused to let Bohe's volunteers help. Hi...s ultimatum was he unloads the dogs or they don't get unloaded at all; they go to slaughter. It was a tense situation. Bohe wanted the dogs saved so she had to ask her volunteers to step back. Mom was ill so we transferred mom amd baby straight to Dr. Nghia's vet hospital. Miki was only 1 day old! Mom and baby were in hospital for months and Dr. Nghia fell in love with Miki. 07.01.2022 VIETNAM: 1,000 DOG MEAT TRUCK HEADED NORTH. THIS IS WHAT HELL LOOKS LIKE! Welcome to Vietnam. Many of these dogs are stolen pets wearing house collars and name tags. They've been stomach tubed with liters of putrid drain water, then force fed kilos of rice pumped into their stomach. 06.01.2022 VIETNAM: DOG THIEVES SHOOT POLICE OFFICER. Police officers were investigating criminal drug crimes when they interrupted dog thieves stealing dogs. Dog thieves tried to speed away on their motorbike but police chased in their police car. As police forced the motorbike to stop one dog thief aimed his gun and shot a police officer with a rubber bullet in his thigh. Both dog thieves took off running on foot. More police arrived on scene and the officers - including the officer w...ho was shot - captured the dog thieves. Both thieves are in police custody. 05.01.2022 CHINA: STEEL TRAP CLAMPED ONTO DOG'S FACE. Local rescuers are searching to locate and save this dog. Expat foreigners and local Chinese are involved in the rescue efforts. Reports say the dog's had the steel trap on his face for 30 days! He's slowly starving. This is another reason steel traps need to be smashed and done away with in every country! 03.01.2022 CHINA: OVERTURNED DOG TRUCK ON HIGHWAY. An urgent call went out this morning for local animal lovers to help at the scene of an overturned dog truck. Poor dogs are truly on a journey of hell. Iron cages of terrified and injured dogs were scattered over the highway in Ziyang County in Shaanxi Province. Its unknown if any dogs were saved, or even allowed to be saved. We hope to have further details but at this stage information is scarce.
