16.01.2022 Every minute of every day, a person with diabetes will face decisions, thoughts, worries and fears about their diabetes management, and the future impact diabet...es may have on their health. The daily burden of living with diabetes can be significant. Its estimated that people with diabetes face up to 180 diabetes-related decisions every day. Thats more than 65,000 extra decisions a year. Diabetes is relentless. Diabetes distress, anxiety and burnout are real complications of diabetes. This National Diabetes Week, Diabetes Australia is launching Heads Up on Diabetes - a new campaign focusing on the mental and emotional health impact of living with diabetes. National Diabetes Week provides us with an opportunity to have an important community conversation about the real impact diabetes can have on a persons mental and emotional wellbeing. This is a conversation we need to have. #NDW2020

14.01.2022 Know the 4 Ts! If your child has one or more of these symptoms, they may have type 1 diabetes. Please help raise diabetes awareness amongst parents and share ...this with your community. Why is it important to diagnose type 1 diabetes as early as possible? A delay in diagnosing can lead to a severe and potentially fatal complication called diabetes ketoacidosis, or DKA. An easy, fast and free blood glucose check from your GP is all that it takes to diagnose type 1 diabetes. Thank you, Diabetes Queensland!

06.01.2022 New research released last week found almost a third of all children diagnosed worldwide with type 1 diabetes were in diabetes ketoacidosis (DKA) at the time of... diagnosis. This happens in Australia as well. Each year, hundreds of people are hospitalised because the early signs of type 1 diabetes are missed. DKA can be fatal if not diagnosed in time. We can stop this by learning the 4Ts the early warning signs of type 1 diabetes. What are the 4Ts? Toilet, Tired, Thirsty, Thinner. If not diagnosed in time, type 1 diabetes can be fatal. Knowing the warning signs could save your life, or the life of someone you love. If you see the signs, dont waste time and talk to a health professional immediately. It is still safe to visit hospitals and doctors surgeries during COVID-19.
