23.01.2022 Feeling dizzy is a horrible sensation. Unfortunately, it is relatively common with up to 15% of the population experiencing dizziness at some stage of their life. There are many reasons why dizziness occurs, and the ‘vestibular system’ is one of the major causes. Check out our latest video with Ross De Valle. https://fchealth.com.au/blog/dizziness-and-vertigo/

20.01.2022 To our valued clients: As you’re aware, Melbourne has been cast into another mini lockdown. Unlike previous lockdowns, we are prohibited from conducting any face-to-face appointments, even for patients needing urgent care. Unfortunately, this means that we are temporarily closed and will reopen on Thursday 18/2/2021. If you had an appointment with us during the lockdown period, we will contact you and organise the earliest convenient time to reschedule. These are unsettling a...nd challenging times for all of us but we know that the same courage and commitment that got us out of the last lockdown will serve us well again now. We've got this Melbourne! We look forward to seeing you all after our little "holiday" First Choice Health

18.01.2022 Hi All, We wanted to communicate to everyone the measures we are taking to ensure the safety of our patients and staff in the current climate. What we are doing:... 1. Extra hand hygiene measures are being employed in the clinic after every patient. 2. All equipment is being cleaned before and after every patient. 3. Extra precautions are being taken in regards to pillowcases and bedsheets. 4. We are encouraging contactless pay and a 1.5m distance from our reception staff. 5. If you have been in contact with anyone who has been overseas OR if you are experiencing flu like symptoms please call us immediately to cancel your appointment and we will reschedule it for you. In addition to the strict hygiene and cleanliness practices we normally follow and additional practices listed above, we are asking all of our patients to help us by following the guidelines in the flowchart below and we are actively screening all patients attending the practice. Kind Regards, First Choice Health

13.01.2022 Neck pain and tightness has become a common theme in patient presentations at First Choice Health over the last year. We have seen an increase in the amount of people working from home (thank you lockdown) and developing neck tension and often head aches due to either poor home office set up or just spending too much time at the desk. The neck is particularly susceptible to increased stiffness and tightness when doing tasks that are in sustained positions for long periods of ...time (particularly head bent to look down at a computer / laptop screen). This is because the neck needs to support the head and if the ergonomics and posture are not optimal, the muscles and joints of the neck and upper shoulders begin to tighten and become inflamed. This can lead to the nerves in the top of the neck becoming irritated resulting in pain in the neck which can also radiate into the head (a condition known as cervicogenic headache). Physiotherapy aims at correcting the postural dysfunction with educational strategies and exercises to help relieve the cause of the problem. Your physiotherapist will often also use manual soft tissue and joint mobilisation techniques to reduce stiffness in the neck and shoulders to give symptomatic relief and reduce tension and pain. This can result in feeling "looser" and reduced and relieved headache symptoms. Your physiotherapist may also talk with you about building up some core strength in the neck and upper back. This involves simple exercises that can be incorporated into your work day, to increase the strength and endurance of these muscles and optimise your postural position in front of the computer. It is important to address these issues as soon as possible to prevent long term issues. If you are experiencing neck tension or pain, or headache type symptoms, give First Choice Health a call and one of our experienced physiotherapists will be able to help you. You don’t need to put up with neck pain and headaches anymore! See more
