07.01.2022 Today marks 10 Years since the devastating 2011 Fitzroy River floods. Water from the west flowed down the Fitzroy River, flooding Rockhampton. The airport was closed and the Bruce and Capricorn Highways were shut, with water over the road in many locations. Rocky was isolated, and supplies ran low, with transport unable to reach it. Although the water peaked at 9.2 metres on January 4, the Fitzroy remained above 8.5 metres for well over a week.
