25.01.2022 Thanks, everyone, for the lovely birthday wishes!

24.01.2022 On our way to AWPA conference and the girls are wrapping up a fantastic day with Pete & Lisa McCrabb on North Bundy Station. Expect me to rave relentlessly about this new find. Half way between Hay and Deniliquin... not on any maps yet but open for business!!

24.01.2022 Good morning as we head out of Tibooburra along the ultra remote Cut Line Road. Best navigation aid in western NSW!

24.01.2022 https://www.upandawaycast.com/link I love hearing about people throwing lots of effort into a new and potentially challenging project. Big shout out to Chris Frangou and his new aviation podcast, Up and Away Cast. Chris is brand new to aviation with just a few lessons under his belt. Good on him for delving into the world of light aircraft flying .... super familiar to most of us, but a bit of a mystery package to Chris. If anyone else wants to share their story with Chris, (or can suggest a friend?) I know he'd love to hear from you.

23.01.2022 Good morning Hayman!

21.01.2022 Who needs to cross a border, with a back yard like this?

21.01.2022 The pilots arrived at WardAir on Friday pretty intimidated by ATC ... after three days of immersion in all the civil and military controlled airspace we could drum up for them, they had grins from ear to ear.

20.01.2022 There’s just something about a little town on the Darling River ... thanks Pooncarie. And cheers to Bob and Barb at the Old Wharf Cafe. We’ll be back !

20.01.2022 We have a few permanently hungry crew members on our WardAir trip this time ... (what is it about young blokes and their stomachs?) Lunch stops are pretty much mandatory! Packsaddle Roadhouse is on the recently tarred Silver City Highway, about half way between Broken Hill and Tibooburra. Fantastic choice.

20.01.2022 Mungo National Park delivers some speccy vistas as the WardAir crews settle into day one of our NSW Best of the Bush tour.

20.01.2022 Walking across the outback with your previously happy partner and a one-year old? What could possibly go wrong with that idea? I’ve just bought my ticket.

19.01.2022 Finally! Kathy has researched the hell out of this book, and man does she love to tell a yarn. Her first book is going to knock the socks off anyone with a pulse who wants to read about the adventures of the true grit characters of our skies - the ladies!! Engaging, humorous and stylish ... Kathy's trademark writing. Get amongst it.

19.01.2022 Hop onboard and we’ll go check out some aerial views over Hamilton Island. Class D was in operation when we landed the other day, with delightful guys in the tower, but the whole area was a CTAF yesterday for our departure and scenic flight over Hayman and the surrounding islands. Easy, uncomplicated, and so worth the effort.

18.01.2022 Let’s call it The Great Escape! As you may have seen on the 6 o’clock news tonight, outback NSW copped a shocker today, immersed in a drenching, howling, thunderbolt & lightning front. As much as we love the outback, we chose to seek refuge in Cobar last night and hightail it home early today, returning a day early on our Best of the Bush adventure. When you gotta go, you gotta go! What a great decision ... what a great week for the WardAir crews in our wonderful west. The people we fly with always make the difference.

17.01.2022 Boil the billie and have a listen. ABC Podcast will be available after 3.30pm.

15.01.2022 It’s extremely rare to have any landing of mine filmed, thank God, but it’s what we do for each other when we travel in a pack. Particularly easy for Capt Bourke, always there first with his ridiculously fast Falco. It’s red, what do we expect?

15.01.2022 All in a day’s work at WardAir ... day three of our Sydney Basin controlled airspace blitz gave the crews some down time in Victor 1 before their daily Harbour Scenic flight and a highlight visit to Kingsford Smith.

15.01.2022 Half way between Nyngan and Tottenham. Go find it.

14.01.2022 Why we all love to fly ... !

13.01.2022 Who needs a passport?

12.01.2022 RPL pilot George reckons this is heaps more fun than school back at Coonabarabran! He’s on his way to that elusive PPL with WardAir as soon as he turns 17.

11.01.2022 Good morning as we track west out of Lightning Ridge ... and what do you reckon we’ve found here? Alien landing pads???

10.01.2022 Shipping containers turn up in the darndest places ... The brand new Callubri Station came onto our radar recently, so we figured Flying the Outback should be their first fly-in guests. Located half way between Tottenham and Nyngan in central NSW, you can land at either airstrip, or the neighbour’s, and get a pick-up. Hosts Angie and Michael are super keen to share their beautiful slice of Australia. Beware ... Angie’s a GREAT cook!

09.01.2022 I said I wanted a TAF, not a novel! Yesterday’s eye-catching offering from the wild west. We were due to be staying at one of our favourite station stays, Bindara on the Darling, south of Menindee. The good news is they got 30mls of rain on their parched paddocks. Nice for all the Outback Beds operators in the region.

09.01.2022 Washing out the crevasses on the old girl - wonderful images. Just in time for dress circle views overhead in the coming Winter! Anybody else planning Red Centre this year? May as well, overseas is closed for business!

09.01.2022 Plenty of runway options at the delightful Mungo Lodge, in south-west NSW. About 25 steps to your accommodation from the aircraft parking area ... makes it a great choice for an overnight stopover on safari.

07.01.2022 Sometimes, even I need a break from the bush with a little sea breeze. Hello Hamilton Island!

05.01.2022 Bluebird day in the bush. Always great fun for Catherine and I calling in for a weekend of instructing at our second home, the bustling little aero club of Coon...abarabran. Such an enthusiastic and welcoming little community, plus we can whiz them over to Tamworth for some controlled airspace practice. Way to go! #wardairflighttraining #flyingtheoutback #coonarocks #farmersandflyers #bushflying #boseaviation See more

04.01.2022 Yay for school holidays!! Max scores a blue bird day yesterday for his first Harbour Scenic flight with the WardAir team.

03.01.2022 AWPA Nav Trial ... Nothing like a few years up our sleeves to bring the trophy home! Thanks Broken Hill, we had a ball.

02.01.2022 It's a hard-fought contest to make it on to the list of the 8 Best, but I think this lot is a pretty good start. What's YOUR favourite NSW outback pub? (You've gotta back that up with a good reason!)

01.01.2022 Last Sunday morning was foul weather in Sydney - low evil clouds, raining, blowing a gale, massive swell. It’s always worth a look across the Heads to see the drama. It occurred to me how absolutely precarious (and temporary) that small blue hole in the clouds looked ... I’ve never lost my absolute fear of relying on finding a hole to allow me to descend safely below a cloud layer. Thank god for instrument ratings.

01.01.2022 I was spoilt by my amazing crew on the Nav Trial at the AWPA at Broken Hill. A WEALTH of experience with Shelley Ross as Navigator, and Jenny Houghton and Adrianne Fleming as observers .... not that ANY of us are competitive, but surely we won !!!!!

01.01.2022 On the hunt for another Land & Lunch stop on day three of our safari, we thought we’d call in on the tiny town of Pooncarie, north of Mildura on the Darling.
