17.01.2022 Great post from QLD Govt. In our work we often hear people say: "I don't do gyms..." "Walking is boring..." ... "Cycling doesn't do it for me..." Let's think out side the box and get involved in more outdoors activities! Bush walking, kayaking, snorkeling, mountain biking, orienteering, rock climbing, dancing, surfing, skiing... The list goes on!

15.01.2022 A little humour is always welcomed after months of no gym. Be safe and we hope your return doesn't feature in the next installment of this video!

11.01.2022 How are you going with your health and fitness goals during this time? Now that restrictions in QLD are easing, are you getting your daily dose of exercise? Are you getting out for a morning swim? ... Are you kicking the ball around with your kids? Are you back on the greens slicing a few into the woods? For some people these seem to be the questions that are being ignored... Maybe more importantly, if you're someone who's been working closely with your GP or Allied Health Professional (AHP) for any particular reason in the lead up to the COVID19 lock down, have you kept up to date with your important appointments? The "Quarantine Fifteen" (although an American term referencing imperial pounds) has become something that people have just come to expect during their time in isolation. Weight gain... rises in lethargy... rises in stress and mental health concerns... disruptions to peoples medication regimes... all these have profound impacts on someones quality of life. It's been well publicised that roughly 1 in 3 Aussies have packed on a few "Corona kilos" during this time - including yours truly. But it's time now for you to ask yourself the million dollar question: So, what now? The simple answer is: pick up where you left off, or thereabouts. Remember, your service providers have been hit hard by the pandemic as well - speaking generally on behalf of all AHP's - we couldn't think of anything better than to be providing our services and helping our clients once again. Who were you working with before your routine was upended over the last couple of months? Get in touch with them and schedule either a TeleHealth appointment or visit in person again. Struggling to return to your healthy eating patterns? Give your Dietitian a call. Lower back pain hampering you since you've stopped exercising? Get onto your Physiotherapist. Struggling for ideas on home based exercises to keep you going before your gym re-opens? Give your favorite Exercise Physiologists a call (Kyle and Mary) and get your routine going again. All of these services are open for business here in Cairns so get in touch and get back to hitting your goals for 6!

09.01.2022 HOW INCREDIBLE!

09.01.2022 Did you know: Approximately every 15 hours, an Australian child is born with cerebral palsy. Statistically, 1 in 3 people with cerebral palsy cannot walk unassisted. Facts from @cpalliance Pictured one of my youngest clients absolutely smashing his previous goals on the rower! He has consistently beat his own 2 minute sprints- super impressive!! Kyle ... #concept2 #concept2rower #cerebralpalsy #exerciseismedicine #exercisephysiology

08.01.2022 Who's up for this challenging workout, and who can beat my time of 46 minutes?!? Remember to always work within your capabilities! (This one is for our followers who are conditioned to high intensity training already) Good luck!... Kyle See more

06.01.2022 SMASHING GOALS This morning, one of my longer term clients walked her dog for the first time in 3 years! I'm very grateful to be a part of her journey - Kyle

06.01.2022 Good morning everyone, We are very excited to hear that some of the restrictions are being gradually eased as QLD, and in particular FNQ, has done a wonderful job in limiting the spread of SARS-CoV-2. Marlin Coast Pool in Smithfield are arranging bookings for people and their carers / physios / exercise physiologists, if necessary to commence exercise sessions as of Saturday the 16th May.... You can book hourly slots (45mins pool time and 15mins to get out, dry off and leave the premises ready for the next person to arrive) in the lap pool with 1 person per lane allowed. The same hourly slots can be booked for the HEATED pool, which will be divided into four quarters, allowing up to four individuals to use a corner each and will allow the swimmer plus their carer / physio / exercise physiologist to enjoy getting back into it again! We invite all of our clients and anyone new to contact us if you have further questions and we look forward to supporting local businesses again and returning to our exercise sessions! 05.01.2022 Great news! The online booking platform is up and active! Download the Genesis app and book your time now. Contact us directly if you are having any dramas and we'll happily help you ...

01.01.2022 The world of diabetes management can be stressful, fatiguing and generally depressing. This is usually due to the unknown variances and fluctuations over time in people who are struggling to maintain a healthy range of blood glucose levels (BGL's) through the day. The most common complaints I hear from my patients are to do with the side effects, which usually include an upset stomach and weight gain as they try to successfully implement new medications into their managem...ent regime. This article highlights the ever growing list of options patients have access to as we gain a greater understanding of diabetes management - options with less adverse side effects. If you ever have any questions regarding your diabetes management feel free to drop us a message and see how we can help. Cheers, Damien

01.01.2022 From our friends at Full Circle Wellness on the Sunshine Coast. Use it or lose it! Keep fit and keep healthy!

01.01.2022 This is a great piece from our friends at Genesis! Incidental exercise can make a big difference to you total energy expenditure throughout the day. Taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Walking/cycling to work a couple days a week.... It all adds up. If you're finding it difficult to fit in set periods of time to dedicate to exercise, why not ask yourself what changes you can implement into your week to help increase your incidental activity??
