24.01.2022 Today is R U OK? Day. At Story House Early Learning, we continue to work with our services to focus on promoting and supporting kindness, mental health and wellbeing for everyone within our Story House Family and beyond so please take the opportunity to check in with and look after someone. 21.01.2022 Dear Families, We see you. We see you worrying that your child is attending the service while you are working from home. We see you worrying that you have just lost your job, or closed your business, and what that means for your family, and your future. We see you, feeling relief as you walk in the door and see children playing normally and educators continuing learning opportunities and care for your children. We see you, needing time to take care of business, to take c...are of yourself. We see you keeping our team together. And we thank you. We need you. We see you, keeping your child at home, because you have decided that is the right decision for you. We see you, doing your bit to flatten the curve, because you arent working. Because you have a support network who can do your shopping, or watch the children while you go to the chemist, the fruit shop and bank. Because your child has a tiny cold and you want to protect our community. We see you, staying at home, but keeping your days with us. And we thank you. We need you. We want to reassure you all that we respect the decisions you are making, whether it is to bring your child to us at the service to maintain routines and "normality", or to keep them at home - we very much appreciate your loyalty, your kind words and your support. We are in this together and well get through to the other side. Right now, life is different. Our freedom has changed. Our lifestyles have changed. But here, at the service, we remain the same. We play, we learn, we continue to enjoy the childhood moments and laugh together and learn from each other. It is important that we continue to deliver high quality early learning programs and care for you and your children. Rest assured that we are here when you need us, and cant wait for all the children to be able to return to the service so that we can keep doing what we love. Stay strong, support each other, and wash your hands! We are in this together.

21.01.2022 Welcome to our new Service Manager for Forest Hill, Belinda Sileni. We are very excited to have you on board with us and look forward to working with you. "Hi everyone, my name is Belinda Sileni. I am the new service manager at Story House Forest Hill Early Learning Centre. I have over 20 years experience in the childcare industry beginning my career in a small country town crche before moving to Melbourne and working across different Childcare Centres, Kinders and Out of S...chool Care Programs. As Service Manager, I understand the challenges parents and guardians often face when trying to find the perfect centre for their child/ren. Being a mum to three boys I understand the importance of high-quality early learning centres. I have always considered life to be a journey of learning, this begins with play! Play improves childrens language and cognitive skills, increases problem solving abilities and strengthens self-esteem, respect and awareness. Play promotes imagination, creativity and independence. As they say Play is childrens work. The environment must be safe and secure, full of natural and engaging resources with qualified and compassionate educators. It is important to have a strong routine to give the children familiarity, however we must be flexible and able to think outside the box. I understand that each child has their own unique needs and interests, therefore communication is key to success. I look forward to getting to know each and every child and family that makes the Forest Hill Early Learning Centre community." See more

20.01.2022 This week we look to place the spotlight on National Child Protection Week, with the theme. "Putting children first". NAPCAN - Play Your Part invite all Australians to look at how they can prioritise children in their lives and communities and to engage in National Child Protection Week as individuals, and as part of families, organisations, communities and society. Putting children first means prioritising the safety and wellbeing of children. To grow up well children need to feel safe and loved, have a chance to play and explore, have a say in decisions that affect them, and access to essential things like food, shelter and healthcare. #childrights #childprotection

These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively. Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
