23.01.2022 A couple of photos that were taken at yesterday's ANZAC DAY Dawn Service. Photo credits go to David Diehm. Thank you for sharing your incredible photos with us David.
16.01.2022 Having a clean up from my Uni days I forgot I used this document for references from time to time. The reason I am sharing this with you as being part of the museum team here at Fort Scratchley Historical Society , Pacificly in the area of our on going nominal roll and looking for men who worked in the Newcastle Industries during WW2. Many of the men employed at our heavy industries were also part of our Volunteer Defence Corps whilst working in the industries here in Newcas...tle. Our industries in the Newcastle area swung into action during the war supplying our allies with razor wire , giggle hats,(steel helmets), shells, props for plane etc. VDC batt's in the area were 5, 8, 31,32. Most of these VDC people did their basic training at the Fort. The last page here there is a little ditty about Hugh Holt who was part of Fort Scratchley in it's early days and his antics as the Waratah Station master after he left the military. See more
