20.01.2022 WE PROTECT THE IRREPLACABLE | PERSON RESCUED FROM SYDNEY UNIT FIRE Yesterday, Friday 18/09/2020, at approximately 7:48pm, Fire and Rescue NSW was notified of an Automatic Fire Alarm activation at an address in Woolloomooloo. 'C' Platoon crews from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 004 Darlinghurst and 001 City of Sydney responded. Crews arrived within 4 minutes and numerous 000 calls were starting to be taken by our Sydney Communications Centre, reporting a top floor unit was on fi...re with multiple people reportedly trapped. This incident was subsequently upgraded to a Structure Fire 3rd Alarm due to the size of the fire and resources needed to combat this. One person was rescued by Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters and was treated and transported by NSW Ambulance. The unit involved in the fire was severly damaged by fire, however other units, which shared a common roofspace, were saved due to the fast response and hard work of firefighters. The following footage, is depicted by two of 001 City of Sydney firefighters, both wearing GoPro's, to give you a different Point-Of-View (POV) look on what roles Firefighters and Station Officers play at a large scale incident. As you will see, firefighting is an inherently dangerous and dirty occupation, however throughout the whole incident, our crews remained safe and perform their individual roles to a high standard. Our mission at Fire and Rescue NSW is to protect the irreplacable, and last night our 'C' Platoon crews did exactly that. Yet another great save.

09.01.2022 purrrfect-CAT RESCUE | C PLATOON Today, 1/12/2020, Rescue Pumper 1 was sent to standby to cover Fire and Rescue NSW Station 062 Bankstown whilst they were training. Our crews were called out to a variety of incidents including a grass fire, Automatic Fire Alarm and numerous Animal Rescue Incidents. ... We were called to an Animal Rescue (Cat stuck in a drain) on Rowe Drive, Potts Hill. Although this seems straight forward, drains pose a serious health hazard, often containing dangerous levels of hydrogen sulfide (H2S). Our crews utilised the gas detector to ensure the area was safe. Where possible, we try to avoid sending our crews in to these confined spaces to minimise risk to our firefighters. We utilised a pocket line to secure the cat, and lift it to safety. No injury was caused to the cat. A successful rescue by C Platoon crews.

01.01.2022 3 YEAR OLD GIRL SAVED: Shortly after 9pm tonight (12/10/2020), City of Sydney 'C' Platoon were in attendance at an Automatic Fire Alarm in Bathurst St, Sydney. Our 'Runner' crew were standing by in their appliance when the father of the child informed the crew that a 3 year old female was unconscious and not breathing due to a fall on a bollard. Upon our arrival, we were presented with a 3 year old female, unconscious, not breathing, and convulsing. Our crew immediately sp...rung into action, rendering initial first aid before paramedics arrived, through the use of oxygen therapy, recovery position and fluid drainage, our crews were able to sucessfully save this childs life. Intensive Care Paramedics from NSW Ambulance arrived a short time later and took over from Fire and Rescue NSW crews, and she was transported to Sydney Childrens Hospital. The crews actions tonight proved that our constant training ensures that we are prepared for anything, to truly protect the irreplacable. An incredibly amazing result from all involved. Our thoughts and prayers are sent to the girl and her family.
