25.01.2022 Morning members. Last night saw the first meeting of the committee in several months due to Covid 19 restrictions. Because of this only the core committee attended in order to meet social distancing measures. The main focus was on how and when we could resume competitions in the current climate. It has been decided that we will try and run a comp on September 26th (this is a saturday, not our usual sunday) and this will be our FSCDA 5 club challenge competition. As we progre...ss towards this event we will continue to keep members informed on how this competition will run under the new Covid 19 regulations. As a club, we are guided by strict guidelines handed down to us by our governing body, and as such if anything escalates we will reconsider if it is safe both for our members and our local community to proceed. Though we are all eager to get back to life as it was, we need to remain safe. Thank you for your patience at this trying time. See more

23.01.2022 2020 Bega Show Community Event CANCELLED Advice received this afternoon from the Local Emergency Control Centre indicates the Showground will be likely to b...e used as an emergency centre as long as the fire situation remains unpredictable. It is likely we will not have access to the ground for any event in the near future. The ongoing fires also mean large numbers of the community are either busily engaged in support roles or unable to safely leave their properties to enjoy an event like the previously planned community event 15th & 16th February. It is hoped that funds promised to the Bega Show committee to help us provide a whole of community event will also become available and a better time will emerge for us as a community to gather, reflect, give thanks and relax and celebrate the good things that have come out of our losses. The Show committee have deep regret that we will not be able to offer an opportunity for our valley to gather, to represent some normality, a sense that life goes on. Although we had cancelled the 3 day show we were determined to carry on. Now we have to concede defeat. It is with some relief we see that the NRL trial game end of February is being followed by a concert. Although no replacement for our beloved show it will be a great start. Keep watching this space, and we look forward to seeing you at the show in better times. David Grainger- President Bega AP&H (show committee) See more

23.01.2022 You've probably heard us tell you before: Never ride your horse on an empty stomach! Riding your horse on an empty stomach will put him at risk of stomach ulce...rs. Stomach ulcers hurt! So in an attempt to avoid the pain your horse may misbehave to stop you riding him. Or he may grudgingly work for you, but will be sour and unhappy. Neither is fun for both of you. But there is an easy solution! Keep your horses stomach full. Here's a guide to how much hay you should feed your horse before work. Want to learn more? 22.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE - TUESDAY 31 MAR 20 This information is current as of today, but may be overridden by any changes announced by government. It's a guide only, s...o please refer to the relevant government web sites for more details. CURRENT NSW RESTRICTIONS The current NSW Government Restrictions only allow for gatherings of up to two people, but the very strong message is If you can stay at home, you should stay at home. The NSW Government Health Orders, effective 30 March 2020 state: A person must not, without reasonable excuse, leave the persons place of residence. Examples of a reasonable excuse include leaving for reasons involving: obtaining food or other goods and services; or travelling for the purposes of work or education if the person cannot do it at home; or exercise; or medical or caring reasons. Failure to comply by individuals may result in maximum penalty of imprisonment for 6 months or a fine of up to $11,000 (or both) plus a further $5,500 fine each day the offence continues The following guidance is provided by Equestrian NSW to our members. Horse Welfare and Care If you're caring for your horse at home, take necessary precautions to ensure your health and safety. Don't transport your horse to ride somewhere else, as its considered non-essential travel. If you agist a horse at a property you may continue to treat and care for your horse, including feeding and exercising, ensuring you maintain good physical distancing and hygiene practices. Only use your own grooming kit, tack and do not share equipment with other people. Where feed or equipment may be stored centrally, take care to use good hygiene practices around door handles and other points which other owners may touch. Please note, you should contact your agistment facility who may have enacted specific rules related to their facility. If you own or operate an agistment centre, you may continue to operate your facility and treat and care for the animals on your agistment and maintain the facility. Vets and other professional services (e.g. farriers) are permitted to attend where required, whilst adhering to social distancing and hygiene requirements. Coaching The NSW Government has stated that people may travel for their work, but that the floating of horses to coaching facilities is considered non-essential travel. This means that coaches may travel to you, and that coaching can only take place at private facilities and must only be conducted outdoors on a 1 on 1 basis, consistent with social distancing and personal hygiene regulations. Government Assistance The Federal Government has a range of assistance packages that are available to equestrians, including: JobKeeper: which provides $1,500 a fortnight to small businesses, to keep people employed. This is also available for sole traders. Boosting Cash Flow: Small and medium sized businesses with aggregated annual turnover under $50 million and that employ workers will be eligible. Eligibility will generally be based on prior year turnover. The payment will be delivered by the ATO as an automatic credit in the activity statement system from 28 April 2020 upon employers lodging eligible upcoming activity statements. Eligible employers that withhold tax to the ATO on their employees salary and wages will receive a payment equal to 100 per cent of the amount withheld, up to a maximum payment of $50,000. Eligible employers that pay salary and wages will receive a minimum payment of $10,000, even if they are not required to withhold tax. Please click on the following link for more details https://aus01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/ At all times we encourage you to stay safe, practice good hygiene and respect your community and fellow equestrians. For further information, please email the Equestrian NSW office at [email protected] or call 9620 2660. BRUCE FARRAR Chief Executive Officer Equestrian NSW Email: [email protected] Mobile: 0417 244 593 FAQs Q. Can I go to my agistment centre and feed my horse(s)? A. You must confirm with the owners, whether you are able to attend your agistment facility, to care for and maintain your horse. Agistment facilities are required to ensure social distancing requirements are maintained and proper hygiene is practiced. Q. What if there are several people at my agistment centre? A. Agistment facilities are required to ensure social distancing requirements are maintained. In the event there are other persons at your agistment centre in contravention of the distancing requirements, please notify the owners immediately. At all times practice social distancing and other transmission reduction measures consistent with the NSW Governments guidelines. Q. Can I exercise or ride where I agist my horse(s)? A. Exercising is considered essential to the care and welfare of horses. Agistment facilities are required to act in accordance with NSW Government regulations. Before proceeding, please contact your agistment facility as rules within private facilities may vary. Note: The NSW Government has advised that all Indoor sporting and recreation facilities are closed. Equestrian NSW interprets this to include covered arenas. Q Am I able to hire out my privately owned facility to horses not agisted at my property for the purpose to ride or exercises horse(s)? A. No. Q. Can a professional trainer of horses still operate? A. As long as the trainer is training a horse(s) already located at their property or the trainer is travelling to a private premises for the purpose of their work then professional trainers may continue to operate so long as it is in accordance with the NSW Governments current restrictions. Q. If I have an accident riding/exercising or attending my horse, am I still covered by insurance? A. Gow-Gates has reaffirmed its advice that in order to ensure ongoing coverage under the insurance program, all parties covered by the Equestrian Australia insurance, including members, coaches and affiliates must adhere to the relevant governing body and governmental guidelines and demonstrate reasonable care. Q. Should I wear gloves when using facilities at my agistment. A. Members should always practise good personal hygiene consistent with NSW Government guidelines. Your agistment centre may require that gloves are worn. Please contact your agistment centre for advice specific to your facility. Q. If I am leasing a horse or share a horse with another rider, can we still share responsibilities and attend the horse facility? A. So long as lessees act in accordance the NSW Government Restrictions. Q. I am a rider - can I have lessons or be coached on my own property or where I agist? A. Coaches, as part of their work, may travel (as essential travel) to conduct their business. In this instance coaches must comply with all NSW Government Regulations including but not limited to social distancing and personal hygiene. Q. I am a coach - can I continue to coach/train my clients? A. Coaches may continue to conduct their business. However as floating horses between properties is considered non-essential travel, Coaches should not teach travelling clients. Q. Can I move my horse from one property to another? A. Horses may be travelled only on specific advice e.g. veterinary requirement. All other travel is considered non-essential.

17.01.2022 Just received this via email EQUITANA MELBOURNE TO BE POSTPONED Now that Melbourne has entered a new phase of Stage Three Restrictions due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, our hopes of a sufficient recovery by November 2020 have been scuttled. It is with a very heavy heart that the EQUITANA Melbourne Organising Team have decided to postpone EQUITANA Melbourne to 2021. ... The "final straw" for us though was the safety of our EQUITANA Community including our exhibitors, competitors, educators, volunteers and of course loyal attendees who travel to Melbourne to enjoy everything the city has to offer as well as a world class EQUITANA experience. With the second wave that has hit Melbourne, resulting in the Metropolitan area going back into lockdown until at least 6 weeks from now, this means that it is impossible to proceed with confidence, that we can conduct a safe and successful event in November. The new dates we have been able to secure for the Melbourne Showgrounds are Thursday 8th July to Sunday 11thJuly 2021. The fact is, the decision to postpone has been made for us, such is the compelling evidence of the fallout of this crises. With restrictions in place and hospitality closed at the moment we just cannot expect people to commit to coming to Melbourne while these measures are in place. Your safety, health and welfare as well as our own team (including our superb volunteers) must be our number one priority. As a small business ourselves, we understand the economic and personal effect this horrible Coronavirus is having on the equine and broader community. Our heart goes out to everyone that on top of fires and drought, have now had to endure this third blow. But it is not the time to risk people's welfare by trying to proceed, as painful as this decision is for us. We will focus on a strong recovery and delivering you all a viable and safe EQUITANA Melbourne next July In the meantime, our hearts are with the Australian Equine Community and we hope you are all safe and well. We are in this with you and wish you all the best for the months ahead and look forward to celebrating good health, good times and great people at EQUITANA Melbourne from Thursday 8th July to Sunday 11th July 2021. Thank you for your support and understanding at this difficult time.

14.01.2022 ENSW ANNOUNCEMENT RE COVID-19 VIRUS In response to directions and advice from government, the Board of Equestrian NSW has taken the very difficult decision to s...trongly recommend that all events be cancelled with immediate effect. The government advice has been to minimise social contact and non-essential travel. The pressure on emergency services means that ambulances may not be available to attend events to treat serious injuries. In this situation, the responsible decision is to take all action necessary not to further burden the emergency services or risk members' safety at events. Equestrian NSW will also ask the NSW Office of Sport to underwrite all losses that our clubs and organising committees suffer as a result of cancelling events due to the Covid-19 virus. We thank all our members, organising committees, officials and volunteers for their understanding and support during these unprecedented times. We will continue to monitor the situation and update you all as soon as we have any further information. PETER DINGWALL Board President

06.01.2022 POSTED BY NSW POLICE DONT PANIC, IT JUST RELATES TO INTERSTATE TRANSPORT OF HORSES NOT ORDINARY MOVEMENT OF HORSES Horse Movement in NSW.... Just a reminder for anyone who owns horses in New South Wales. There are regulations governing the movement of horses within NSW. A reminder to everyone that if you are transporting horses you require a Traveling Stock Statement (TSS). These documents are available from your Local Land Services office and you are required by law to have one in your possession when transporting horses. Transported Stock Statements (TSS) are required for horses travelling within NSW by vehicle (including those travelling into NSW), except where they are: travelling interstate and their journey deviates less than 30 km into NSW; travelling across a public road from one part of a property to another; being transported for veterinary treatment; being transported to or from a show, exhibition, gymkhana or other event; or horses being transported for work. Remember, transportation of stock is monitored to ensure biosecurity. Should you require any further information about this, please consult with your LLS or the Department of Primary Industries (DPI).
