04.01.2022 One year ago today we lost our beautiful boy Bailey. Bailey was 13 years old and had been battling cancer for a while. His final morning he was following me around a lot more than normal, I felt like he was glued to me, I thought something was wrong. I lay down with him in the middle of the hallway, cuddling him, talking to him, saying sorry he was sick and I couldn't do anything for him. I spent that extra 10 minutes with him and went to work. When I got to work I ...said to my co workers I think it is time I had to make the horrible decision to put Bailey to sleep and end his pain. My day went as normal until I got that dreaded call from Sean to say Bailey had passed during the day. I was so shocked and so upset I ran out of work to be home with him and to be there for when the kids got home from school. The boys got home from school we said our goodbyes and spent a little time taking some paw prints and fur whilst we waited for other family members to arrive to say their goodbyes too. We already knew we wanted to get Bailey cremated and have him at home with us. When we were ready we called the crematorium and asked if we could get him picked up but we were told it wouldn't be till the next day cause it was late in the day and they close at 5pm. I had time to take him to them before 5pm so asked if I could do that. I still got a resounding No! Told to just take him to the vet! I was so upset by this, I wanted a beautiful ending for Bailey, I wanted to say goodbye from home and have him in the care of the crematorium not in a freezer at the vets. I did what I had to do because I had no other option. It wasn't the way I wanted it to happen. This is how Furry Friend Farewells was created. Sean and I vowed to open a pet crematorium that provided a personal compassionate service to everyone and to be available at any time. I found this video on Dane's iPad not long after, just a boy playing with his doggo See more
