24.01.2022 #gravelnotgrass Locals soon learn to roll not slide!

23.01.2022 Our doors may close at 5pm but, this weekend, we’ve still got lots for you to see! Don’t forget to tune into The Unconformity’s UNTV tomorrow (https://fb.me/e/k87trUC33), or if on the West Coast, spend the weekend visiting our exhibitions, studios, galleries and bars.

21.01.2022 The West Coast is being featured on a new TV show, being broadcast around Australia. Tune in to Channel 9 at 12.30pm tomorrow (28 March)!

16.01.2022 Our team of volunteers have been putting in some long hours during our closure so we can finish off some maintenance and update displays. This isn't one of them (we do let them go home). This is George, our resident friendly ghost and caretaker. Discover George's story when we reopen in a few weeks.... #museum #westcoasttas #history #ghost #ghoststories #tasmania #heritage #volunteers

16.01.2022 Today some of our volunteers experienced the wonders of the West Coast Wilderness Railway. Train whistles, steam and stories of days gone by plus some hearty food, short rainforest walks and gold panning can also be a part of your West Coast experience from 22 September. Before (or after) your train journey call in and see us at the Galley - open 7 days.

16.01.2022 Telling stories of survival, endurance and sacrifice and providing a personal record of the people themselves - West Coasters - the Galley Museum is a unique collection of memorabilia and artefacts. This 32-page booklet features several stories told in our museum, and their links to local sites of interest. Enrich your experience of this extraordinary place by touring the Galley and surrounding areas.... The booklet, developed by our team of volunteers and designed locally, is available for purchase for $6.

09.01.2022 Unfortunately we have made the tough decision to close. We are operated thanks to the generosity of volunteers and we need to protect them - and the broader community. This summer has seen us embrace being a white i visitor information centre and further develop our brand and retail offerings.... We'll take this opportunity to rest and prepare for reopening as soon as it is safe. Thank you to all our visitors and locals who support us!

07.01.2022 The Galley is pleased to partner with other West Coast heritage operators to deliver a great package for visitors to the region. See all the details on the West Coast Heritage Experience package (great for adults and families) online at https://westcoasttas.com.au/field-guide/heritageexperience This place, and our history, have shaped us. We're here to tell our stories...

07.01.2022 Our wonderful team are currently updating the Sports Room - where tales of West Coast clubs, tournaments, competitions, champions and endeavors across a range of sports is displayed. We have several football jumpers on display to showcase the number of teams that called the West Coast home. If any West Coasters would have a Lyell jumper or a Queenstown Crows jumper they would like to donate to the Galley to form part of this exhibit, please call us on 6471 1483 or visit us between 9am and 5pm daily.
