22.01.2022 Well this is a happy moment. We've just been awarded a TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Award for 2020. Thank you so much to everyone who has written lovely reviews over the years. You can't imagine how much they are appreciated.

19.01.2022 Some guests checked in early this morning. And they were up before the heat set in. Meet Brad and his babies as he gets his chicks to enjoy the wonders of the Gariwerd Motel here in Halls Gap. Brad and his family enjoyed the communal kitchette for breakfast and then took a walk around the grounds. He plans to check out before 10am, but anyone who is a parent knows that getting your kids out and ready for the day takes more time than you think! We are happy to grant him a late check out though!!!

18.01.2022 The following is a message from Parks Victoria for Friday 4 January 2019. Good Afternoon everyone, ... Tomorrow Friday 4th January 2019 has been declared an Extreme Fire Danger Day for the Wimmera Fire District and Severe Fire Danger Day for the South West Fire District. It has also been declared a Total Fire Ban for the entire state of Victoria. Conditions will be extremely hot and windy. If a bushfire was to ignite it will be fast moving, erratic and very difficult to bring under control. Parks Victoria recommends that visitors avoid exposure to extreme heat and fire danger by planning not to visit or camp in remote and forested areas including Grampians National Park, Black Range State Park, Little Desert National Park and Mt Arapiles State Park and other Parks and Reserves across the Wimmera. If you must travel, take only sealed roads, stay close to your vehicle and monitor the radio for conditions. If camping, it is safer to leave the park for the day and if conditions permit, it may be safe to return late in the evening. Otherwise you may need to consider alternative accommodation options. It is also recommended that visitors: Have a personal bushfire plan in place Monitor the weather via the BOM website or App Download the Emergency Vic App and tune in to local radio stations for emergency updates Visitors can go to an accredited Visitor Information Centre for a list of safer activities to do in the region or to Brambuk the National Park and Cultural Centre in Halls Gap for park based information. We also remind visitors that there is no swimming permitted at Mackenzie Falls, there are a range of other lakes within the region where swimming is permitted. Phone reception limited throughout the Grampians National Park.

08.01.2022 Hi old friends, how have you been? I really hope you are well, and you have managed to get through all of this relatively unscathed. It's been awfully quiet around here lately, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's been a good chance to paint a few rooms, and fix a few things up (and to be honest another month would have been quite handy, because there's plenty more to do.) We're open for business again as of June 1st. We've made a few changes around here to ensure a s...afe and hygenic environment for everyone. Limited reception hours and pre-arrival-check-in are the most important. The kitchenette is closed but cooking facilities are being added to some rooms. We've also updated our cleaning procedures in line with the best advice available. If you are in Victoria, and you are itching to get out of home for a night or two, and most importantly, if it is safe for you to do so; it would be lovely if you'd consider a stay at the Gariwerd Motel, in beautiful Halls Gap. See you soon? Tony Owner Gariwerd Motel
