23.01.2022 May my life never be so busy for me to not appreciate the little things - like my ducks enjoying a semi-dried mud puddle as I move them into the house yard for better grazing. . This year my life has become busy though! With community meetings & my involvement in our community, working casually, raising kids, organising Mother’s Group and general chores of animals / garden. My life is hectic! But my Mother & Father always told me if you want something you have to work for it.... . . So these little moments I do get, Oh they seem to be the most blissful . . #firsttimegardener #gardeners #smallholding #gardenersofig #instagardeners #gardenerslife #gardenersworld #gardening #mygarden #growyourown #gyo #homegrown #myfarm #farmher #organicgardening #permaculture #familygardener #farmtotable #familyfarming #tinygarden #instagardener #instagardeners #australianhobbyfarm #hobbyfarmaustralia #myplot #gardenblogger #hobbyfarm #gardenblog #gardenersofinstagram #facebookblogger #ducksofinstagram

22.01.2022 How interesting is this! Just look where their lungs are located! They have no chest cavity so everything is so exposed

22.01.2022 Today I took a trip with my worms I travelled to Ganmain Preschool to teach some very energetic kids about worms & how to set their own farm up. I enjoyed every second of it! Just seeing them holding them and getting all excited about worms was fantastic!... Thank you for having me Ganmain, I loved your hospitality

21.01.2022 We love seeing happy sunflower faces I’m excited for them!!

21.01.2022 Every year in the Spring, our neighbouring town Griffith holds a Show - like most towns throughout the year. But this year is different as Covid has taken away most of our big events for the year. So... Here's the exciting news! I've been contacted by the Griffith Show Society Inc.! They would like to Sponsor us! that means adding another prize and another way to win in our Sunflower Competition.... Griffith Show have some interesting things coming up in place of a actual show this year so please have a squiz at what they're up to! Good luck to our 35 entrants! May this give you a bit MORE incentive.

21.01.2022 My job today - moving the fence! With my little helpers The layers seem to find any hole in the fences they can find, so I’ve had to fix & move the fence.

20.01.2022 This year has been a great year for us. Covid definitely threw a curve ball with how we operate but honestly, This year has been one of our most bountiful Our geese had been waiting for babies ever since the frosts stopped from winter - so finally the waiting paid off ... I am so thankful this year My hard work has paid off this year and I’m reaping the rewards #firsttimegardener #gardeners #smallholding #gardenersofig #gardenerslife #gardenersworld #gardening #mygarden #growyourown #gyo #homegrown #myfarm #farmher #organicgardening #permaculture #familygardener #farmtotable #familyfarming #tinygarden #instagardener #australianhobbyfarm #hobbyfarmaustralia #myplot #gardenblogger #hobbyfarm #gardenblog #gardenersofinstagram #facebookblogger #geeseofinstagram

20.01.2022 ROLL AWAY NEST BOX This is a great DIY project for anyone! We did it in a big scale but you could definitely make it smaller The eggs roll down into a little compartment away from the chickens reach. It’s great for chickens that have a bad habit for cracking eggs and eating them It’s also good for clean eggs ... Click the pictures for step by step

18.01.2022 I had a little sneaky sneaky look at the Sunflowers I planted and it’s looking great! Next couple of days I should see them emerging from the soil! How are your seeds going? Still have your waiting face on?

17.01.2022 Roll away nest box in action!

06.01.2022 My Brooder set up. A brooder is a area where you keep your baby chickens / ducks. It has food, heat lamp and water - everything a baby would need.

04.01.2022 A LOT of people have messaged me recently saying how I’ve given them inspiration to start their own Hobby Farm - and I honestly think it’s amazing! I thought I could share 5 Tips for starters! A list of wisdom when first starting your patch of awesomeness ...Continue reading

03.01.2022 This week at Gatty Hobby Farm.. I’ve been planting, planting & more planting! Flowers, bulbs and of course vegetables ... The days are getting warmer and the garden will be at it’s peak for the season very soon! We’ve had such great rainfall this season my wallet has had a sigh of relief Water has to be the most challenging thing on our block. With no irritation or Dams - we are solely reliable on one garden tap This year our breeding season is going so well! With help from a keen friend we’ll be well and truly full of chickens to sell at Auctions (when they come back from covid break) Selling chickens / selling eggs is one of our main sources of income for the farm. Without them we would definitely be at a loss! The week ahead has forecast rain So I hope you all enjoy it Bec

03.01.2022 Look at that sunflower progress! Cant wait to see how big the heads are! How are everyone’s going? Great job Kathyrn from Hillston !!

02.01.2022 Sunflower comp starts today and new layers get settled in their new home (I know im not the best speaker with heaps of ums and ahhs but with practice I might get better )

02.01.2022 ‘My plot - where the weeds thrive better then the vegetable plants’ Anyone in the same boat? It seems like everything I plant this season just hates life and dies Maybe my garden thinks I need to spend more time in it ... Or maybe its just the 2020 curse? #firsttimegardener #gardeners #smallholding #gardenersofig #gardenerslife #gardenersworld #gardening #mygarden #growyourown #gyo #homegrown #myfarm #farmher #organicgardening #permaculture #familygardener #farmtotable #familyfarming #tinygarden #instagardener #australianhobbyfarm #hobbyfarmaustralia #myplot #gardenblogger #hobbyfarm #gardenblog #gardenersofinstagram #facebookblogger

01.01.2022 I’ve just spent my golden hours (when kids go to bed) watching the movie The Biggest Little Farm - Things like these inspire me even further into making my little (in comparison to them) farm into something so great It would take us a much longer time to get where they are though but it definitely is doable. We only have the 5 acres and don’t have such easy access to water as they did - but it’s definitely things to think about when moving forward!
