23.01.2022 Do I need insurance against Bushfires? Like all insurance decisions, that's entirely up to you. BUT don’t come wanting insurance to be put in place if the bushfire is already burning down your back fence! Have your Insurance Policy in place For Insurance, you are trying to insure against the unknown, not the known. Home and Contents insurance and Farm Insurance will cover you for bushfires, though different insurers have different definitions of what they will cover, so nee...d to check the fine print. Are your fences covered? Is your Livestock covered? Is your plants, shrubs, trees covered? What about your pets? Farm Machinery and Farm Contents are they covered? These can all be included on your policy and we can tailor a package to suit your needs. Cars need separate cover and compulsory third party will not cover damage from bushfires. You will need fire coverage for that. We are seeing bushfires in more area than ever before, and given the dry weather conditions, it’s entirely possible that the home you may have previously thought was not at risk could now be in a bushfire zone. One thing to bear in mind is that if your home is totally destroyed you may need to rebuild it to a higher standard taking into account regulations around bushfire risks so insuring it for it’s current worth may not be enough. Plan for a bushfire, every fire plan will be different though, some tips are as follows:- Which Fire Danger Rating is your trigger to leave? Will you leave early that morning or the night before? Where will you go? What route will you take and what is your alternative? What will you take with you? What do you need to organise for your pets and livestock? Who do you need to keep informed of your movements? Is there anyone outside your household who you need to help or check up on? How will you stay informed about warnings and updates? REMEMBER TO DECIDE WHO WILL DO WHAT AS PART OF YOUR PLAN Should you wish to discuss Insurance Options for your property please contact Gerard Faulkner on 0418 573 763 or email [email protected] See more

08.01.2022 Who is responsible for a cancelled flight the airline or your travel insurance? It’s not always clear cut, but the ACCC Consumer Rights recently found that ‘no matter how cheap the fares are, airlines cannot make blanket statements to consumers that flights are non-refundable.’ If a flight is cancelled or significantly delayed, passengers may be entitled to a refund under the consumer guarantees, which give consumers a right to a remedy if services are not supplied within a... reasonable time. The ACCC has prepared a helpful page with information about your rights when it comes to flight delays and cancellations (below). But there are situations where the airline isn’t obligated to refund you or cover costs (often where it’s out of the airline’s control such as bad weather), and typically that’s where travel insurance comes in. Talk to us about your travel plans to make sure you’ve got the right protection in place. #TravelInsurance #CancelledFlight #DelayedFlight https://www.accc.gov.au//healt/flight-delays-cancellations
