07.01.2022 Showcasing the inimitable talents of Orchestra Victorias viola section, with illuminating introduction by section member Jason Bunn, this video introduces one ...of the highlights of Copplia: the Pas de deux from Act III, where Swanhilda, plucky heroine of Delibes beloved ballet, finally marries Franz. Musically, their wedding pas de deux is notable for its elegant viola solo, beautifully represented here by OV Section Principal Paul McMillan, and Orchestra Victoria on this ABC Classic recording, conducted by ballet legend Maestro Barry Wordsworth. The pas de deux is also to be found around the 1hr 30m mark in both productions now showing on The Australian Ballets #AtHomeWithBalletTV.
