GGF '21 was the largest, most epic, most successful tournament we have run yet! ... We had: - 50 teams - 163 women who fished - 44 male skippers - 6 teams who skippered themselves... you bloody legends! - Over 600 fish caught over the 3 days - Scorching hot temperatures - 2,000 Jelly Shots - Endless laughs and fun - Custom made Gin Bar! A huge thank you to our sponsors, we could not do it without you! We are so blessed to be aligned with incredible brands and businesses and put all our efforts into ensuring we are running a professional tournament that you can be proud of being aligned with. To all our marshals and volunteers, our bar chicks, everyone who gets in and helps, Kerri, Wally and Russell at Banyan Farm - Daly River, our awesome photographer Lisa, our media legend Mat from PRLX and our newest addition for 2021 Amy Hetherington who upped our social media game and made welcome night hilarious and fun - thank you! To our competitors and skippers, you guys are absolute legends! Thanks for making it what it is, I put in the hard yards to pull the event together, but you are the people who bring the vibe and the energy and have the fun, so thank you! Until next year, Sammie x

20.01.2022 A huge congratulations to team Slippery Gypseas who took out the SWB Barra Challenge aka 2020 Women’s Barratoga Bash held over the weekend at Corroboree! How awesome it must have been to be out on the water with all the legends who fish these tournaments!! Well done to Kris Noble and all the other organisers, it’s been a hell of a year to organise events and I’m sure it was no easy feat.

16.01.2022 Girls Gone Fishin 2020 will be postponed until 2021... I really do not know where to start, or how the actual f*#k we have gotten here. A mere three weeks ago I was sitting here thinking, holy dooly, less than two months to go! Where is the year going? The answer, my friends, is up shit creek without a coronavirus vaccine (or any god damn toilet paper to wipe my ass with). ... I have spent the better part of the past week coming up with strategies about how GGF can continue this year, do we stagger meal times, do we cancel all evening festivities and still just fish, how can we maintain the social distancing and so on and so forth. But I kept coming back to the question - what is it that makes GGF so friggen good? The people, the time we spend together of an evening (in super close, germ filled contact), the camaraderie on the water, the fun and the games and the hugs and the love and friendship that is shared between all of you who come each and every year, and I came to the realization that no amount of strategy or putting into place measures to ensure the health and safety of each and every one of you was going to be worth losing that aspect of the competition (aside from the fact that y'all remained healthy...) The newly imposed limits of 100 people in an indoor space (yes, the Banyan Farm hall is classified as an indoor space) and the requirement to practice social distancing of 1.5m has made it impossible for us to proceed, along with the very real threat of not actually being able to go to the Daly River at all if further restrictions are put into place limiting any non-essential travel to the area. It would be foolish for us to hedge our bets on these two factors which are totally outside of our control, and so we have made the very tough decision to postpone this years tournament to 2021. Thank you for your understanding, this situation is totally outside of our control and we are devastated we cannot bring you the best weekend of your lives for 2020. Tight lines Sammie x

16.01.2022 The most essential message at the moment for our wonderful little town. ‘A little means a lot’ Shot by the wonderful team at PRLX, who will be with us on the water for GGF 2020 + 1!!

15.01.2022 Happy Easter from the GGF family to yours! #girlsgonefishinNT #budjufishingeventsnt #easter

15.01.2022 FINAL RESULTS! What a weekend! The girls fished hard over three days and produced some incredible results. There were over 620 Barramundi landed over the three days of the tournament! Outstanding results by some seriously dedicated fisho's.

15.01.2022 Please, please adhere to these rules. If we all do our part we will slow this beast down and get through it together. Australia is projected to hit 11% unemployment - the worst times our country has seen since the Great Depression. The longer our country has to be shut down under these forced measures, the worse it’s going to be. My family is doing our part, we ask that you do too. ... If you think it’s over the top, let’s all hope it is. But if it’s not, you’ll be glad you did your part.

13.01.2022 Kangaroo Rock is just one of the many challenges fisho’s face on the mighty Daly River!! Who’s ready to face it at GGF 2020+1? Dates to be announced this weekend

11.01.2022 Now that Easter's over and we have no tournament to look forward to later this week (thanks for nothing Rona), what do we do to stop ourselves going crazy in iso (or crazy at work for the essentials out there)!? Lucky for us in the NT, we're still allowed to go fishing with our families. This means now is the perfect time to support our local fishing & boating related businesses who sponsor our wonderful comp! Need to re-spool or service the reel - @fishingandoutdoorworld ... Need an upgrade? - @lowrancefishing @shimano.fish Boat need a service? - @precisionmarine_nt Tank looking empty? - @fuelxpress_pty_ltd Esky looking empty!!? - Make sure you grab a slab of Northerns and a bag of ice from Arctic Ice! #girlsgonefishinNT #budjufishinevents #supportlocal See more

09.01.2022 Today, in an advert posted in the NT News, the Northern Land Council appears to have unexpectedly thrown the NT’s recreational fishing and fishing tourism secto...rs under a bus. Serious doubt must now be cast on the $10M deal the NLC signed with the Northern Territory Government earlier this year. Less than 6 months ago, the NTG and NLC signed a deal granting the NLC a fast-tracked review of the NT Fisheries Act, improvements to the Aboriginal Coastal (Commercial) Licences and $10M in cash for a new Aboriginal Seafood Company. In exchange, the NLC were announced as committing to a 2-year extension of permit free fishing while negotiations over specific areas continue with Traditional Owners. Today however, the NLC announced that vast sections of the NT coastline will be off limits to recreational fishers from January 1 2021, and that to access other areas, recreational fishers and fishing guides will require permits from March 1 2021. To say this is confusing and unexpected is an understatement. Only four days ago, the NLC posted a media release with the headline The NLC Full Council approves permit-free access to Aboriginal intertidal waters until 2022. Immediately, the NLC also placed a new recreational fishing permit page on its website, even claiming that fishers would need special licences, in addition to the permits, in order to take fish in waters overlying Aboriginal land (a matter which is disputed by the NTG). This week, AFANT requested that the need to obtain a permit for recreational fishing be waived. We highlighted that no consultation took place with us or the NTG, that the permit system does not appear to be ready for intertidal access, that the intertidal zone has still not been mapped, and that significantly; after a terrible year for so many people, including fishing guides, it was unfair to lob these changes out of the blue on fishers and fishing Tour Operators right before Christmas holidays. The NLC responded by only waiving the need for a permit in the yellow zones until March 1. Since 2016 AFANT have been engaged continuously and respectfully in negotiations with senior NLC staff and office bearers over intertidal access. We fully recognise that Traditional Owners have the right to decide what happens on their lands and waters. We have attended countless meetings, and always engaged in good faith, believing it is possible to agree on a bright and inclusive fishing future, with real benefits flowing to Traditional Owners. What has been announced today was not up front and does not meet the standard for an act of good faith negotiation. Our first notice of these changes came from our staff reading the (now removed) media release and Recreational Tidal Fishing permit pages on the NLC website. The maps issued today surprisingly show areas in Kakadu as being closed. Areas of the Lower Finniss river that on the best advice and NTG cadastral maps appear not to be Aboriginal Land are also shown as closed waters on the NLC issued map. The NLC told AFANT they have not specifically mapped the intertidal zones, nor have they explained how fishers are supposed to know if they are on public or Aboriginal owned intertidal waters. Significantly, it does not appear that most of the newly closed waters are a result of Traditional Owners deciding they will not allow recreational fishing. A map has been provided to AFANT indicating that most of red zones actually depict areas where Traditional Owners are yet to decide on fishing access one way or another. Regardless of the reason, the result is unexpected, shocking, and will devastate the fishing industry and community from January 1. The NTG’s commitment of $10M must surely now be called into doubt. We urge the NLC and the NTG to get the negotiations back on track, and to work towards a future that better balances the needs and aspirations of all Territorians. 09.01.2022 TOURNAMENT UPDATE We have had a few people contact us to ask if we are going ahead with GGF - and the answer is HELL YEAH! The current recommendations from the Government are that any mass gatherings of over 500 people should be re-assessed to decide whether or not they will go ahead. We fall well under this number with 250 pax. ... We have assessed the situation and feel it is safe to go ahead with the tournament. We will continue to monitor the situation and heed any advice / warnings that are issued. We look forward to continuing to represent our awesome sponsors, and put some much needed money into the local economy and tourism industry in these tough economic times. We ask that any of our competitors who are ill, and have the signs or symptoms associated with COVID-19 to please consider isolating yourself and do not attend GGF, otherwise we look forward to seeing you on the 15th April down the Daly! If anyone has any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. In the meantime, we are off on the hunt for some god damn toilet paper! #wejustwannawipeourhoohahs
