25.01.2022 Time to talk tackle fellow Fishos! This one has been in our arsenal for a while now, the best knot for tying braid to leader in our opinion is the mighty FG knot. Anyone who knows how to tie it will quickly tell you it's the best (better than double-double uni, improved albright or 'slim beauty' knots). There's a few ways to tie it, for smaller applications (40lb leader or less) there's: The longer way, but easier to tie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oohOoOOmbNk... Or the quicker but more complicated way https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjzUb5QRKuk If you can work it out, the Rizutto finish is a better way to finish the knot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rnZiyRUG9c For 50lb or above it's much easier to get a Bobbin Winder. 19.01.2022 Time to talk tackle fellow Fishos! This is how we deploy the Twisted Dropper Loop from our previous post in the Paternoster rig. Starting from the top - Uni's to connect the top swivel (See previous post). - Twisted Dropper Loop in the middle (See previous post).... - Uni's to a second bottom swivel (The second swivel, to attach the sinker works a treat in lots of current, it stops the rig 'twirling'). - Lastly, tie the sinker on using a weak knot. This can be just about any knot (I use http://www.lovetheoutdoors.com//Fly-Fishing-Knots/Dave-Haw). That way, If you snag the bottom with your sinker, it'll drop the sinker and you'll keep the rig! 18.01.2022 Time to talk tackle fellow Fishos! This little known knot the Twisted Dropper Loop, for Paternoster rigs only, is best for deeper dropping (50m+) with strong currents but can work in most offshore applications. Twisted Dropper Loops can be tied comfortably in leader up to 100lb or so. Pros: - quite strong if tied correctly (there's a weaker version called 'the dropper loop' - the twisted part of the knot helps with both strength and bait presenation) - stops hooks tangling ...around your mainline - interchangeable hooks - quick to tie - with dry hands! Cons: - Quite stiff/rigid, so bait presentation isn't the best it possibly could be, so if you're fishing in places that are really frequently fished (a problem we don't have) with really clear water it may not be the best choice. - Not suitable for big live baits (best for smaller live baits and dead bait). 15.01.2022 This is a unique place in Australia and the fishing cannot be equaled. Swains is where the Norval goes when it is bad weather at Marion Reef. The fishing at Swains is as good as Marion but better cover from the weather. If you visit this remote area you are in a very unique group of islands as close to nature as you can get.

08.01.2022 Time to talk weather fellow Fisho's! Temps looking good for Marion Reef ! When it comes to weather we're starting to get spoilt for choice. There's a plethora of different tools we can use to improve our catch. Today I'd just like to show you some cool new tools you may of missed: A Global Wind map - very cool, great for an overall perspective of where winds originate https://earth.nullschool.net/... BOM's new Meteye is just fantastic - it's a more visual look at the current weather and forecast. You can push play at the top and cycle through the current forecast and muck with the tools on the left to get different overlays (Wind, Radar, Sea Surface Temp, Chance of Rain etc). http://www.bom.gov.au/australia/meteye/ Predict Wind Only just picked up on this one, gives you 3 different forecasts in one spot. Not sure if it should be relied on, just checking it out myself at the moment. https://www.predictwind.com/ BOM's new HI-DEF Satellite images. 07.01.2022 Hy guys tomorrow is a verey big day in my life with the main boat and the game boat plus the tenders makes 5 boats how ever you add it up it comes to a big amount of money you can not replace prpperty on insurance money the norval is one of a kind they dont build timber boats any more she has given so many , fishing fun for over 40 years so many old people mail me just to say they were on the old lady and never forgot the time groups come back year in year out if debbie spoils her i know she will come back stronger than ever like her owner we never take a backwards step

03.01.2022 Time to talk tackle fellow Fishos! This is the go-to knot appropriate to almost any situation - from big to small fish. It's really easy to tie and it's super strong. You name it, we've caught it with a Uni knot somewhere in the rig - from Marlin down to bait. Best for tying leader to hooks or leader to swivels. Not appropriate for tying braid to leader - see the FG knot in our previous post. Thicker lines require less loops in step 2. Pro tip: wet the knot with a bit of spit for best results.
