18.01.2022 Last week, the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards' committee met via phone link and it was decided to postpone the launch and monthly awards presentations of this year's awards due to the current health and economic crisis. At this stage July is our target date to launch the awards depending on the circumstances at that time. This will still enable us to conduct six awards ceremonies prior to the gala event if this is feasible and appropriate.... We understand it is our responsibility to meet all Government requirements and we will continue to discuss those in the months ahead. For those who have already submitted their entries this year, we thank you for your interest in the awards. We will have your entries on file to forward to the judging panel when we are able to resume the awards. For those who wish to still enter the awards, you are welcome to continue to submit your entries and we will keep them on file. Alternatively you can keep an eye out for our social media posts to see what the plan is for our awards in 2020 when we review our status in early July. The time is unprecedented in our history and we understand all businesses will have many other challenges to address in the months ahead. 15.01.2022 Dairy-Free Down Under, one of our long term entrants and past annual winners in 2018 for Emerging Business, has kindly been donating free cheese and cracker snack packs to our health workers at Gold Coast University Hospital to help out in this time of health crisis. What a fantastic and positive initiative! Their business has also been lucky enough to thrive at this time with independent retailers selling their dairy-free stock at stores such as Costco and IGA. Well done Dairy-Free Down Under! Its great to hear some good news stories about our local businesses during these uncertain times.

15.01.2022 e-CBD, a local digital agency and a past entrant and winner of the IT & Digital Business Award, has been working hard for businesses during this time of uncertainty. A great service they provide is totally refreshing websites for companies so that they can be up to date with how their business is operating. One of the great businesses that e-CBD has helped update their website is Goldsteins. Frank Goldstein, the founder of Goldsteins Bakery, was honoured at the 2019 Gala Awar...ds Dinner with our Business Person Hall of Fame Award. Operating since 1944, this Gold Coast institution provides quality pies, cakes, pastries and more. Whilst you can’t enjoy their instore hospitality at this time due to COVID-19, Goldsteins have pivoted and made online orders available on their website for pick up at their Molendinar bakehouse. Well done to Goldsteins for adjusting their services during this time and to e-CBD for helping them promote this on their website.

07.01.2022 Coastal Asbestos, our Emerging Business winner in September 2019, has been working hard to continue to trade during this time of economic and health crisis. They are also giving back to the local business community by providing their COVID-19 Policies and Procedures at no charge to trade based businesses, so that they all can keep their workers safe at work. In addition, they have given 100s of paper masks to Symcorp Building Services, based at Burleigh Heads. They also gav...e P3 masks and positive air masks to another past winner of the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards, PHJ Services, who were our July 2019 winner for Family Business and are based at Burleigh Heads. On top of all of that, Coastal Asbestos is running a cross promotion with business "I Still Call Australia Home", another business based at Burleigh who sends Australian goods overseas for ex pats. Congratulations Coastal Asbestos for all your hard work and positive initiatives that you have been involved in implementing!
