22.01.2022 The children (and teachers) are having an amazing day dressed as pirates. We are drawing maps and finding treasure, and even telling some pirate jokes. We have raised $100 so far. Thank you to those who have donated. It's not too late to donate to raise funds to support families affected by childhood cancer. 21.01.2022 This year, our Science week theme is Deep Blue: Innovation for the future and our oceans. The theme lends itself well to the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, which begins next year. It’s an opportunity for children to explore marine science and the associated technology and discover the importance of our oceans and the impact on the climate. Today preschool 1 & 2 begun by discussing the ocean and sea. We then worked together to Investigate ...and learn about the properties of fresh and salt water. Our experiment with fresh and salt water engaged children in scientific thinking, wonder, hypothesis and exploration. We used two tubs of water one fresh and one with salt added, along with one boat in each. We slowly added weight in the form of rocks to the boats to see what happened. Throughout the experience children offered their ideas, experiences and hypothesis through voice. We learned that salt water is more dense than fresh water causing things to float more easily. As the salt dissolves in water it adds mass to the water, so objects float higher in the water. If salt water is added to fresh water it will sink to the bottom as it is more dense. Children were encouraged see, feel and taste the difference in salt and fresh water. Kristen Preschool Educator

18.01.2022 Today in our Nursery 2 room we celebrated Anzac Day by making a wreath. The children enjoyed pushing the flowers into the foam, educators talked about meaning behind Anzac Day and why we celebrate it. We often lay 'Anzac wreaths' at war memorials as a way to remember those who have lost their lives serving Australia in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

17.01.2022 It's photo week at the centre this week!! The children and Educators are very excited indeed

17.01.2022 At Goodstart Cameron Park the Preschool children have been engaging in many projects. Projects involve an in-depth study or investigation of a particular topic. Sometimes a child, or a group of children, are looking for answers to questions they have formed by themselves or, more often, in collaboration with their educator. Often the questions emerge from play episodes. Other times, questions that lead to explorations arise from provocations that an educator has introduced. Projects can involve and integrate a combination of learning experiences. In Preschool 1 the children have been involved in spontaneous drawings and learning about bugs and creepy crawlies. Preschool 2 have been learning about the recent floods and as they have started a weather project.

11.01.2022 Yesterday was ANZAC Day, today we held our own special ANZAC Service. We read the book Lest We Forget which contrasts the present day with time of war and explains why it is important to remember the service that so many have done and continue to do for our country. Then some of friends lay Rosemary in tribute to those have served or are currently serving.

09.01.2022 Yesterday we received a beautiful storybook for the children called "Daisy's First Day", a fictional book featuring Australian animal characters. This story book enables teachers and educators to facilitate conversations about what children might experience in a typical school day. This book is designed to compliment activities from the Transition to School Guide for Early Childhood Education. Robyn and Samantha shared this story with the Pre-school 2 room and the children really enjoyed listening to this story as well as giving the children an opportunity to discuss about going to school next year.

08.01.2022 Self-reliance and self-confidence: these are among the most important qualities we can give to our child. One of the best ways to cultivate these qualities is to give our children responsibilities. When children are required to do various tasks, they learn self-discipline, time management, empathy, and the consequences of actions. The research on this subject is clear: kids who participate in household chores are more likely to succeed in school, careers, and personal relationships. Studies have shown that they are more responsible, have higher self-esteem, and are better able to manage feelings of frustration and delay gratification. Many adults could use more of these qualities. In follow, up to giving the preschool children more responsibilities, we are using our responsibility board every day

04.01.2022 Holi is celebrated on Monday, March 29. It's one of the most significant Hindu festivals. Also known as the festival of colours. Holi signifies the triumph of good over evil. It is the day to forgive and make peace with everyone around us. The children in Toddler room and Preschool rooms thoroughly enjoyed this experience. The children started to involve themselves as they played with dry colours, exchanging the spray of colours, and running around to the Holi folk songs. It uplifted the mood of everyone as we experienced the festivity of the colours; sharing joy and happiness as we engaged it with friends and educators. Written by Shalu.
