25.01.2022 The Toddlers reenacting a much requested story - The Three Billy Goats Gruff.

25.01.2022 Senior toddlers are extending on the children knowledge with plants and the natural environment. They have been busy planting and growing all sorts of things from seeds. One of the Kindy children brought sunflower seeds from her garden earlier in the season and they are flowering! Our educators are asking questions like 'what colours can you see? how big or small are each of the flowers and plant stems? does it smell or not? The children then painted their own sunflowers with some yellow paint, focusing on pencil grip and fine motor control.

25.01.2022 SECOND IN THE STATE! Congratulations Wonderful Wondall!! This past Summer, Goodstart ran a competition between all of the centres (over 600 in QLD) to ensure that our children continued to receive the best possible education and oportunitites leading up to school over the Summer period. This program was to be innovative, exciting and include all of the children in the centre. Wonderfull Wondall received second place in the category of Best Summer Education Program for Won...dall Quest - the search for Bunyip. Our team worked in conjunction with our children to develop a storyline and act on the childrens current interests. Whilst we assumed the children would want to take the story down a traditional storybook path, they surprised us with their concern about the fires and drought that had been affecting our country and made it their business to first track down Bunyip by learning about direction and weather patterns and then help support native animals that had been affected by the fires. We loved this adventure so much that we will be running mini quests during all of this years school holidays. Any ideas for a theme or a project are very welcome! See more

23.01.2022 Welcome to NAIDOC week Wonderful Wondall! We wish to acknowledge the Quandamooka People, the Traditional Custodians of the land upon which we learn and play and pay our respect and gratitude to all Elders, past, present and emerging. Always Was, Always Will Be recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. This NAIDOC Week we’ve been invited to participate in a series of virtual cultural experiences. This program is a j...oint community initiative presented in partnership with Goodstart Early Learning, Inclusion Support Queensland, Logan Together, Salvation Army Communities for Children and We Belong Family Day Care All the children have been gathering together in the kindergarten room each day to listen to Indigenous stories, watch cooking demonstrations and even a magic show. The first story was about how the red bellied black snake got its red belly. The second story was from the Tiwi Islands and explains the coming of the wet season. See more

22.01.2022 Miss Leisa, Ishaani, Kayce and Hemi are members of our Centre Safety Committee. Here they are ensuring our monthly Health and Safety Inspection is done thoroughly. Keep up the great work team!

22.01.2022 We dont charge for Public Holidays! As a not-for-profit we want to make early learning affordable and accessible for all Australias children. We dont think its fair to charge families for days they cant use, so we dont charge for public holidays in any of our centres. www.goodstart.org.au/enrol

21.01.2022 After finding out that we have FAIRIES in our Waratah tree (red silky oak) we drew trees using markers then applying watercolour wash. Children observed and created different tree forms. And, by placing the construction materials on the table we supported independent and small group learning. The children loved this small world opportunity and continued to explore their interest in fairies by making fairy castles and gardens.

21.01.2022 We offer flexibility and strong support. We are Australias largest provider of early learning and care and that sure has its perks. We are able to offer our families 9 hour, 10 hour or all day sessions to better support the demands of daily life and minimise your out-of-pocket expenses. You have the reassurance of a high-quality play-based program in every centre based on the Early Years Learning Framework, international evidence and best practice. Every centre has access to central support teams to further enhance the safety, learning and wellbeing of all children in our Goodstart family.

19.01.2022 Next Wednesday 2 September is Early Childhood Educators Day! This year it coincides with the start of spring and we thought what better way to celebrate than ...to say it with flowers! We are calling on our families to help fill our centres with greenery on this important day! It doesnt matter whether you bring a plant from a shop, something from your garden or even a sneaky snip from the side of the road it will surely put a smile on the faces of our well-deserving teams! 18.01.2022 BUG HUNTING The children went on a bug hunt! They enjoyed investigating some bugs in the sensory bin. It was set up with homemade green dyed spaghetti, plastic bug toys, pictures of bugs, tongs, spoons, scoops and the bug catcher. The children expressed a wonder and curiosity as they researched the activity. They first observed the bug hunt sign which was stuck on the wall. Then, they were invited to find the bugs using a variety of tools. Each child engaged in the activity... differently and very creatively . Jackson said, I found a caterpillar and he matched them with the picture on the wall. Stevie used a scoop and she did a lot of transferring into a bowl. Alfie used the tongs to grab some spaghetti up and he said, this is a spider and he pointed the picture of spider. Isla enjoyed transferring green grass (spaghetti) using tongs. Also she pointed to a spider and said there! when I asked her ‘where is a spider?’ Theo said big spider and he used a spoon to explore the green grass Blake said, mix the spider and he mixed the green grass using the tongs. Olympia grabbed some spaghetti and said There is a worm, sticky worm Poppy I’m making soup Summer I’m making a big coffee Isobel kindly shared the tools with her peers and said, show your manners, please This was a good activity for them to develop sensory exploration, fine motor skills and cooperation skills. 18.01.2022 Whoops, silly Summer! Yourre supposed to point the paint spray bottle at the art work not your face! The sound of toddlers giggling was absolutely lovely .

17.01.2022 Every afternoon just about every child in our centre picks up one of the flags in the foyer, waves it around and tells me why the Aboriginal, Torres Strait Island and Australian flags are special to our country and to themselves. An impromptue rendition of I am Australian accompanied the usual conversation last Friday and was too lovely not to share. Freya yelling AUSTRALIAN at the end of each chorus is so funny.

14.01.2022 Some interesting topics are being covered by the Senior Toddlers lately. They have focused on shadows and then colours, leading into different shades of colours. They have also started a new learning topic looking at their bodies, opposites and the size of themselves.

14.01.2022 Jack and the Beanstalk led to renewed interest in the garden and how plants grow. We then extended the learning to include life cycles and photosynthesis. Its always so interesting to see where the children will take their learning journey.

13.01.2022 Whilst the children in this video were intent on launching a matchbox car out of the end of pipping, the educators in the yard were focused entirely on the social dynamics and the fact that the children were learning about cause and effect through their play. These littles ones who are two and three, worked together, took turns, ecouraged and celebrated with each other all whilst trialing different methods to achieve their desired outcome. The educators supplied the open ended resources and were nearby to support if needed. But, as you can see, no support was needed. Play is the highest form of research, Albert Einstien.

13.01.2022 Even on a Saturday the girls are hard at work! We all keep our First Aid and CPR certificates up to date because your child's safety means everything to us.

10.01.2022 Miss Cha reading to our early morning group in our Welcome Space. Dont just teach children to read. Teach them to question what they read. Teach them to question EVERYTHING.- George Carlin.

09.01.2022 'Curiosity is the very basis of education.' Arnold Edinborough

08.01.2022 The children love listening to Miss Cha Cha sing songs from different cultural backgrounds. The children even left their messy play opportunity to join her when she was singing the indigenous song Inanay by Tiddas.

07.01.2022 A few weeks ago, during our Wondall Quest Winter holiday program, the Kindy children got really involved in the traditional tale of The Lion and the Mouse. As always with a story in that room the children create props, do retells and mini plays to reenact the events of the story. This time they insisted on changing the end of the story slightly so that not only is it a tale of bravery and respect but also one of friendship between two unlikely characters.

07.01.2022 Our Wondall Quest Winter holiday program is back in full swing! This Winter, Wondall Quest will incorporate fables and well-known childrens stories that incorporate a moral and focus on positive qualities such as resilience, confidence, cooperation and kindness. These stories generally feature animal characters who demonstrate and explore these attributes. Our team have picked a few of their favourites such as Lion and the Mouse and the Hare and the Tortoise to get us starte...d. Families, your first task is to send your child in with a favourite tale that is told in your family! The children in the photos below are from the nursery, toddler and Kindy rooms. During these moments the children can decide if they want to play or join in with the story telling. You can tell how connected they are to thier educators and how much they love participating in the storytelling.

03.01.2022 Kindy have turned their castle into a farm complete with a scarecrow and a milking station! They love working together to bring each others ideas to life.

02.01.2022 This month the Kindy children have been busy creating a castle theme in their dramatic play area. One of their group suggested the interest in a discussion and, because the children were so excited by the concept, they got to work straight away. To begin with they planned and built models and eventually worked together to create the castle walls, their crowns and their very own shields. They even have Scottish flag flying above the parapets and are learning about one of their numbers Scottish heritage. Where will the children take the learning to next?

02.01.2022 Anzac day Commemoration Anzac day is a national remembrance in Australia and New Zealand that broadly commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders who served and died in all wars and conflicts and peace making operations. Wonderful Wondall Children acknowledged Anzac Day and paid their respect to all the brave men and women that have fought and lost their lives, defending our country. During the Anzac Ceremony, Children sat still and quietly whilst we listened to the last post and showed respect as the wreath was placed in front of the memorial. They also took turns at laying down some sprigs of rosemary.

01.01.2022 A lovely sensory and fine motor experience that lets the babies explore themselves and their creativity.

01.01.2022 Kindy started working on their floor book a few weeks ago. Floor books are used to help children review and reflect on their learning. The children were invited to add their drawings and thoughts about the daily learning activities. In early childhood, floor books are a way of involving children in the planning and documentation of their learning. Their questions or thoughts is then used to guide future learning.
