09.01.2022 Brisbane artist Michael Phillips' two artist books, Black Soil I and Black Soil II, make up the Black Soil Series, They are a visual narrative about the environment in the region around Mt Mistake south-west of Brisbane, and in particular about the degradation of the land since colonisation. This area has suffered two 100 year floods, the first in 2011 and the second in 2013. In December 2019 and again in January 2020 it was struck also by bushfires.
