25.01.2022 Only the Morrison Government could think up a scheme as inhumane as spending $28 Billion on tax cuts for the wealthy while everyday people fight to stay above the poverty line Instead, the Government should prioritise the more than one million unemployed ahead of the wealthy. To get out of this recession, we need to invest in job-creation, the care economy, nation-building infrastructure, not give tax cuts to those that dont need extra support.

24.01.2022 Theres a powerful push from oil & gas corporations to return to business as usual, but business as usual is what gave us the climate crisis.

24.01.2022 These amazing young people are leading the fight against corporations to protect our future

23.01.2022 This is what a climate emergency looks like. We need a climate change act for WA.

22.01.2022 Have you seen our Escape 2020 An online Escape Room fundraiser yet? You can have a fun night with your friends and help raise money for the Greens as the same time!

22.01.2022 Today more than 1.8 million people receiving JobSeeker and Youth Allowance are now back to living below the poverty line due to the Governments $300 a fortnight cut to the COVID supplement. Four in five people on JobSeeker will now be forced to skip meals and almost half of JobSeeker recipients will be forced to ration their medication. The Government is ignoring the impact that this cut will have on people. Will you share how you or your family and friends will be impacted... by the $300 a fortnight cut to income support? Tell us your story here: https://greens.org.au/campaigns/your-jobseeker-story

21.01.2022 Have you wondered what it would be like to Escape 2020? Well now we can pretend with our Escape 2020 An online Escape Room fundraiser All money raised will go toward powering our state election campaign and ensuring issues like climate change and donations reform are on the agenda this election!

21.01.2022 Yesterday the Liberal government and the Labor party teamed up to vote down an amendment that would have kept the coronavirus supplement at $550 a fortnight The Greens were by themselves voting in support of the people most affected by this Pandemic Join us in calling on the government to raise the rate for good: https://greens.org.au/campaigns/raise-rate

21.01.2022 The latest Government investment into aged care is not enough. The sector needs an urgent injection of at least $3 billion as a matter of urgency to guarantee proper quality of care. This is about protecting the most vulnerable.

20.01.2022 It's time to rasie the rate of Jobseeker for good

19.01.2022 We are in a climate crisis right now! This crisis is being driven by an out of control gas and coal industry and a State and Federal government who take donations instead of action. Now is the time for a WA Climate Change Act. To make this a reality sign here: https://timclifford.com.au/actions/climatechangeact/

19.01.2022 This R U OK Day, the Government can do more to support the mental health of Australians. We need to: 1 Extend Medicare-funded telehealth for mental health care services 2 Introduce a 3-tiered system of access to Medicare-funded psychology sessions under the Better Access program:... Make sure to ask someone if they are ok today but dont forget to check in again tomorrow and to demand better on mental health from this government

19.01.2022 Today is National Threatened Species day Did you know that the Numbat has lost 99% of its range and now it is estimated that under a 1000 are left in the wild Thats because their homes are being systematically destroyed by land clearing and altered fire conditions. ... Our natural environment is in crisis - logging, mining and climate change are polluting our environment and pushing our native animals to extinction. We need to protect our natural wildlife and save this WA icon. Join our fight to put a stop to the Government's plan to take a chainsaw to our environment protections Sign Up Here: https://greens.org.au/campaigns/save-our-environment

18.01.2022 The WA State Government has released a draft of the new Aboriginal Heritage bill for public comment with the intent to introduce it into State Parliament before the end of this year. First Nations peoples in WA have been let down time and time again with the outdated and ineffective Aboriginal Heritage Act of 1972 that allows for the wholesale destruction of heritage sites. In May, Rio Tinto destroyed a 46,000 year old rock shelter at Juukan Gorge - a site deemed to be one of... the highest archaeological significance in Australia - without the consent of Traditional Owners. Now we find out that there are more than 100 sacred First Nations sites throughout Western Australia that mining companies have legal permission to destroy. The era of State and Federal Government allowing the mining industrys access to any land they want has to end. The McGowan Government cannot allow this wanton destruction to continue. They do not have the social licence and the world is watching.

17.01.2022 This is great news for residential renters! The government has extended many of its rent relief measures until March 2021 next year. With a rental market that's becoming more expensive, Jobseeker dropping and high unemployment rates it's important we help those who are struggling as much as possible

17.01.2022 Happy #WearItPurpleDay 2020 from some of our amazing MPs, Volunteers and Candidates By celebrating the spirit of LGBTIQ+ young people, we let them know they are valued, supported and loved! Everyone has the right to be proud of who they are. That's why we must continue to support our LGBTIQ+ community and fight for equality.... Make sure you smile if you see someone wearing purple today!

16.01.2022 Its time to get the dodgy donations out of our democracy We are trying to close a loophole that makes it so political parties in WA don't have to report donations under $14,300. This loophole has resulted in heaps of untraceable money and doing away with it is progress towards holding the Government accountable. The Greens have been calling for this reform for years and we're thrilled it's finally happening. ... But this is just a tiny part of what enables Governments and Ministers to make dodgy decisions, especially as of late. Here's what we need to clean up politics in WA

15.01.2022 Are you a renter? Share your story Tim Clifford MLC have created a survey to gather stories about peoples experiences renting during COVID-19. The survey will help us fight for stronger protections and convince the Government to extend the rental assistance measures beyond September. The moratorium on evictions and other rental assistance measures are about to run out, jobseeker will drop soon, WA has the worst unemployment figures in the country and our rental market is bec...oming MORE expensive. If we dont act now, hundreds or thousands of Western Australians will likely be facing massive rent-deferral bills, and possibly eviction. If youre a renter, please complete the survey and help us make renting fair for all Western Australians. Fill out the survey and share your story here: bit.ly/RentalSurveyWA

15.01.2022 Um What? Leave it to WA Labor to blame crime on young people being supported during a pandemic

14.01.2022 This weekend marked 180 days until the election! This year hasnt been the one many of us imagined. But in just 180 days we have the opportunity to ensure real change in WA. This election is our chance to build our grassroots movement and hold the WA Labor Government to account. Well ensure a Green economy, creating thousands of jobs in the renewable energy industry that will power our economy into the future and tackle the climate crisis head on. Our movement isnt run on ...donations from big corporations like WA Labor and the Liberals. Our campaign is powered by people like you taking action to create a better community. Our teams are already out in the community talking to voters about the issues that matter to them. This weekend alone we knocked on thousands of doors across WA. If you are interested in being part of a movement that holds climate action, caring for others and create a better future at its core, click the volunteer page in the comments and sign up!

12.01.2022 Let's be clear: the Greens are in total support of a hard border and compulsory quarantine as the health advice tells us it's what is needed to keep us safe from COVID-19. That being said, the process that Western Australians trying to return home are being forced to endure is inhumane and lacks any transparency or fairness. There are thousands of Western Australians trying to get home who are being denied entry for arbitrary reasons. Once they finally are able to get home, ...people are facing extraordinary mental and financial stress due to appalling price gouging by hotels and airlines and basic needs not being met during mandatory hotel quarantine. People with disabilities aren't receiving accommodations for their needs, kids aren't able to access their education and the food is entirely unsuitable for people with any kind of dietary needs. The State Government MUST do better. Given the reality of COVID-19, it's likely we will be living with this quarantine regime for a long time. WA needs to implement a humane case management system where Western Australians returning home are allocated a case worker to guide them through the process of getting back. A hard border doesn't mean compassion and due process go out the window.

09.01.2022 Here's everything wrong with the Libs' uni plan in 1 minute.

08.01.2022 The sun will probably die before the Liberals start caring about people

07.01.2022 This government's priority is helping the rich. Not the millions who are struggling because of COVID. Not the people who are barely making it by week to week.... Tell Josh Frydenberg that we need to raise the rate of jobseeker for good: https://thegreens.good.do/raisetherate/email-treasurer/

07.01.2022 This horrible bill has not passed for now! Working with the crossbench, the Greens have sent it to a Senate inquiry An inquiry will help take this rotten bill apart so we can block it once and for all in October. Bring it on.

07.01.2022 After September 25, a single JobSeeker will only have $255 a fortnight to pay for food, bills and transport after paying rent. That's a budget of just $18 a day. Send off a pre-filled email to the Treasurer to tell him not to cut JobSeeker: https://thegreens.good.do/raisetherate/email-treasurer/

07.01.2022 It's time for the Liberal party to start getting some better policies

05.01.2022 A gas fired recovery is just another way for corporations to continue putting profit above people

05.01.2022 It's clearer than ever who Scott Morrison cares about

05.01.2022 We can think of quite a lot of people who are opposed to new gas

02.01.2022 Thank you Senator Rachel Siewert for your tireless work and leadership campaigning for a fairer community Rachel has very often been the only member in Parliament to speak out against punitive measures that successive Governments have implemented against some of the most vulnerable in our community including cuts to single parenting payments, the Northern Territory Intervention, income management and the cashless debit card, work for the dole, the community development prog...ram and ParentsNext. She campaigned for a royal commission into the abuse of disabled people since 2015. Rachels time in Parliament has been shaped by her belief that when the people in Parliament work for their community, we can do powerful things together. We know that you still have much more work to do and we will be cheering you on as always.

02.01.2022 Today is the international day of peace and this years theme is shaping peace, together. Clearly the Morrison government doesnt get the message The Morrison government has locked in more than $270 billion worth of new defence spending during a global health pandemic and against the backdrop of the climate crisis... What would you rather this money was spent on?

02.01.2022 We have one of the highest rates of unemployment in Australia, our rental market is being squeezed and many social support measures will run out soon. Our state is staring down a massive housing crisis.

02.01.2022 Happy bisexuality visibility day!

01.01.2022 The Labor Party has sold out on climate action They would rather take hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations from companies like Woodside and Santos than help stop the climate crisis.

01.01.2022 Disabled people and carers were entirely left out of the Government's COVID stimulus package. These two payments exist in recognition that disabled people and carers have higher everyday costs and face significant barriers to entering the workforce. They've also experienced significant increased costs during this crisis. After rent, Mark is left with just $21 a day to pay for food, bills, transport, medical appointments and medication.... sign the petition: https://greens.org.au/campaigns/disability-and-carers
